If CAS rejects Besiktas' appeal (which they most likely will, I reckon), Tromsø will be playing in the group stages this year.

...and they already lead 2-1 before the meet in Istanbul tonight. Wouldn't be Tromsø's first trip to Istanbul causing mayhem either. In 2005 they knocked out Galatasaray and qualified for the UEFA cup.

HJK Rijeka have just beaten VFB Stuttgart with the 4th minute of added time to reach the group phase. This is a club who I watched beat Prestatyn Town in the 2nd Qualifying round in July

Pleased to hear Holtby and Carroll had good games, a bit disappointed for Siggy.

In case anyone has missed it, one of the losing teams from tonight will be drawn to replace Fenerbahce in the group stage.

Would be pretty funny if it turns out to be one of the really small and obscure sides. Personally I am hoping for FH, I bet everyone are just dying to go to Hafnarfjörður in November.

Did they knock anyone out before Arsenal? Surely it should be them if so.

They knocked out Salzburg, who have already qualified for the Europa League on their own.

Surely Salzburg should be promoted to the CL then?

Tromsø lost the game last night 2-0 but as expected CAS rejected Besiktas' appeal today and Tromsø take their place.

The group stage last year definitely featured bigger clubs than this year.

Good for Swedish football that Elfsborg ended up with a group they could at least theoretically qualify from.

It's pretty much the opposite of who Celtic got - the away fans get to go to Barcelona, Milan and Amsterdam. Not too bad.

In fairness we beat Anzhi earlier this year when they had Hiddink, Willian and Eto'o. Even if we did need a goal in the 91st minute of the 2nd leg. Anzhi is probably not as tough a game now but the travelling in Spurs' group is likely to be a killer.

Koppinen to score for Tromsø at WHL like he did for us at Stamford Bridge six years ago.

10 man Valencia 2-0 down to Swansea at Mestalla now...

edit: de Guzman with a cracker! 3-0.

Fair play Swansea. Wigan drew 0-0 too, not a bad result away from home.
