At least Everton fans can't carry on with the excuse of how little they spend, despite their net spend/income not being a great deal different from ours over the last 15 years or so before the Ozil deal.

Be funny if he scores a hat-trick at Stamford Bridge and Jose still refuses to entertain the notion it was worth keeping him there instead of Torres.

There have been rumours of an Arsenal move for Colombian attacking midfielder Juan Quintero over recent days, but not from any reliable sources.

Perhaps they were dismissed because no one can beleive that Arsenal could possibly need another attacking midfielder.

In the last hour or so, this transfer has taken a serious turn with widespread reports in Colombia that Quintero is on his way to London to sign for Arsenal.

It began with Quintero’s agent Tweeting that the move was done (see above). A translation of Maria E. Chavarro’s Tweet is: “Today @juanferquinte10 traveled to England to sign a contract with Arsenal who are paying 20M Euros (around £15.8m) to FCPorto, congratulations!”



Subsequently, Mauricio Osorio Muño, a journalist for RCN Radio has confirmed Juan Quintero is signing for Arsenal and even gone so far as to Tweet his flight details! (See both Tweets below).

Juan Quintero is a 21-year-old attacking midfielder who has been at Porto for around a season.

He was part of Colombia’s World Cup squad but predominantly came off the bench to try and make a difference with fine set pieces and prompting from midfield.

There are suggestions on Arsenal forums that if Quintero arrives, perhaps Santi Cazorla is heading to Atletico Madrid.

Lets wait and see if these Colombia reports are true, but this could be yet another coup for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger this summer…

We play Porto at Goodison on Saturday, so he will be in the country...
