I don't really wanna say much but presumably Sunderland will be receiving a few awkward questions about recalling him.
And weirdly twitter's reaction of blaming the girl.

Sadly, that seems to be normal on Twitter. As is the casual rape threats.

Even if he gets cleared in court it looks really bad for Sunderland having lifted his playing suspension.

Apparently Sunderland are starting Johnson tomorrow

I fail to see where it says he will play for them, just that he's legally allowed play

He will play.

They'd have suspended him again if they weren't going to.

I suppose the fact the club have said he can still play rather than suspending him pending the outcome of his trial may point to the fact they'll probably play him. Especially considering they're in a relegation battle potentially worth £100mil

Can't believe Sunderland are going to play him.

Evening Chronicle suspiciously quiet on this - Local media spend all their fucking time writing about how Sunderland are a community club who have such a link with their fans.

Obviously playing a guy who has just been charged with grooming isn't as morally reprehensible as not approaching Rafa Benitez.

Fair enough.

I'm more talking about the decision to play him. - When they seem to not want to say that Sunderland have made the wrong decision. And are sticking strictly to facts and club statements.

Could well be for legal reasons tbf.

Aye, I think it is - same reason MOTD etc. haven't made a big deal out of it.

Court says he's innocent and he could sue shitloads of people for slander etc.

I doubt fear of contempt is gonna suffice for the inevitable mocking he's going to be receiving from terraces, although the only thing that non-suspension changes is that he gets to hear it.

Adam Johnson not included in Sunderland squad.

Seems weird to welcome the backlash of not suspending him but then not playing him.

Wonder if playing the corpse of Jackie Milburn at CB would be less risky than playing Mike Williamson there.

Was that the seventh Premier League defeat in a row today?

Looking at the table Newcastle could actually go down if they don't pick up a few points soon.

It was. First time NUFC have managed it since 1977.

We sound desperately shit, especially in defence.
