I bought a few books a couple of weeks ago but am planning on starting Cosmos by Carl Sagan tonight.

Just finished Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes and Bram Stoker's Dracula, loved all of them when I really thought I wouldn't. Sadly term time is approaching so my non-subject related reading will take a massive hit, but I have started Don Quixote in the mean time.

Last book I read (well, on my kindle) was Blood Guilt by Ben Cheetham. Easily the best thing I've ever read.

Just started reading the Society of Dirty Hearts, same author, he's seriously good.

Why is the Kindle not the same? The four books I listed above are all on Kindle. No copyright ftw.

It's the name of a creature in Final Fantasy XI. They're a group of little flying things that have elemental attacks. They aggro magic so some of the stronger ones can really fuck you up if you don't see them and you're alone.

The last two books I read were football related ones - "Up Pohnpei", which is by an Englishman who, with his mate, moved to Micronesia and took control of their football team. The other one was "Soccernomics", which is a football-nerd's heaven. So many facts and figures, it's really interesting.

I don't know about Kindle but I have a touchscreen Kobo which is good, and slightly cheaper.

I've got a kindle. I love it.

Read classics on it mostly that have ran out of copyright. I just have the 79 quid model, fantastic bit of kit.

fantastic horror/thriller/weird done in really original ways

Possibly mine too. Check out some of Ian Banks' other books too, The Crow Road is very good, as is Espidar Street. His sci-fi stuff is pretty crazy too, although they can be quite daunting.

yeah ive always meant to check out some others of his. Only other one ive read is The Steep Approach to Garbadale, which was also pretty good.

But yeah Wasp Factory is fantastic, read it for the first time when i was 14 and it just blew me away, i'd never read anything like it.

I read 'Up Pohnpei' upon the recomendation of Nexus earlier in this thread, I got it for a train journey down to London for my wife's neurology appointment and loved it, I couldn't put it down all day and had finished before we got home.

My friend dropped in a few books yesterday. Anyone read 'Hidden Soldier'? Loving it so far, soooo brilliant. About this Irish guy who joined the French Foreign Legion and then became a mercenary.
