My first look around the club and we were missing some significant positions. We had no scouts, no director of football or a chief scout. We were also short of a left midfielder which translates to not having a single player at the club who can even partially play there. Also with a lack of money, I was going to struggle bringing in players for left midfield as well as all the other positions in need of improvements. I always assign my assistant manager to take charge of the friendlies:
Dayle Grubb - He is going to be playing right midfield but can also play right wing and centre midfield and attacking midfield.
Tristan Plummer - The advanced forward. Particularly excited about this guy because of his pace. The partnership with him and the DLF role could be lethal at this level in particular
Tsvetan Filipov - The Bulgarian is the best player at the club stats and star ratings wise. He is going to be playing centre midfield on automatic he is also on cheap wages for the quality he is.

I signed two new players during the first half of the season. Neither are starters however one has the potential to stay with us for a while..
Neil Marshall - Our player/coach centre-back Clayton Fortune damaged his cruciate ligaments in a friendly and was out for 10-12 months, and at 32, he would only decline and probably won't end up being good enough next year. So I brought in a cover player, who can play left back as well as centre back. Other than defensive stats he isn't very good and will probably end up leaving this year.
Jack Gwilliams - Released by Shrewsbury 3 years ago, but still has some really good potential but will currently act as a rotation option because Jordan Clarke is in really good form. However if he impresses or Clarkes form drops, I know I have a solid replacement for him at only 20.
Key Performers:
Jordan Clarke - Has been a stand out player since joining at the start of the season, being very consistent and getting 10 goals and 7 assists in 27 starts in all competitions. I think he has the potential to stay with us for another couple of years, however failing that, there is Jack Gwilliams.
Tristan Plummer - The obvious choice but well deserved. I picked him out at the start of the season as the one to watch and he has lived up to that tag. Has scored 24 goals in 21 starts in all competitions and also has 7 assists. However with him being out for 7-8 months, I can only hope he will be able to recapture his form.
Jake Llewellyn - Finally a player who probably goes under the radar, but at 18 years old he is really doing his bit for the team. Since the change in tactic he has really shone, and has got himself 7 assists from left back. Is currently my starting left back, and will be at the club for many years if I can afford his contracts.

Thanks, I used to live there so its going to be nice to manage them

Joshua Williams - An emergency loan signing as Tristan Plummer was out for the rest of the season, 3rd choice striker Scott Wilson also got a short term injury and 2nd choice, Bradley Ash also got a short term injury. Played 4 times managing to score once. Towards the end of the season, he requested to have his loan terminated which I rejected but a couple of days later, he injured his hip and was out for 6-7 months so he returned to Fulham that day.
Steven Seddon - A backup left back signed on loan from Birmingham City. Our 2nd choice left back was Ollie Barnes, who isn't a natural left back and has stats more suited to the centre back role, so he became 4th choice centre back, and Seddon became 2nd choice left back. Would definitely start if he was our player but because he isn't I want to give our own player more gametime
John Phillips - The signing I was most excited about. A 14 year old regen, signed from Biggleswade Town on a free. 14 finishing, 17 flair and 12 strength and acceleration at only 14 is really promising. Is also 6'0". Will start in years to come.
Our end of season review was a pretty positive one. Our best moment was a 7-0 win against Matlock, and our worst moment was the 5-2 defeat to Truro. However the best thing on this screen is the 29 players used, which is the joint highest in the league. This was particularly pleasing because it would point to meaning that the morale is high.
Key Performers:
Alex Byrne - The loanee from Exeter had an indifferent start to his season, however found his feet in the second half. He managed a 7.38 average rating in all competitions and also got 4 goals. He signed a loan extension and will be with us next year
Bradley Ash - When our top scorer, Tristan Plummer, got injured I feared we would lack a goalscorer. But Bradley Ash stepped up and scored 20 goals in 33 appearances in the league. He also managed to get 8 assists and 5 PoM awards. At only 19, he has a bright future.
Tsevetan Filipov - The Bulgarian central midfielder is by far the best player at the club, and he proved it by scoring 7 goals and getting 8 assists also getting a league high 7.82 average rating.

Transfers In:
Connor Cowan-Thompson - Signed on a pre-contract in January last year, because Clayton Fortune got a 10-12 month injury, and significantly decline over the year, so I signed him as a backup. Is only 20, but is only 5'9"
Kasjusz Piowawarczyk - The 23 year old Polish centre back came in on a free from FC Romania, in England, unsurprisingly, and comes in as one of our best players and therefore our best centre back. Pat Keary, our starting centre back, stays, but he was the only centre back. Can play DM and MC as well as DC.
Harry Donovan - Jake Mawford and Danny Wring were both released, because they weren't good enough and were quite old in comparison to their ability. So Harry Donovan came in on a free after being released by Arsenal. And at only 18, he is a first team regular, and can probably stay for many years.
Rob Smart - Another 14 year old coming in on a free, this time from Bridgwater. Is now our fourth choice striker, and at only 14, is another one who can stay for many years.
David Massey - A 14 year old central midfielder, who was meant to be in the reserves, however due to injuries, has made the step up and played a string of first team football, and has a very bright future, if not with us, a bigger side.
James Fry - Brought in on a free from Leamington, and is the 3rd choice centre back. Can also provide cover at right back, if the other two get injured. Has had spells at Birmingham and Kidderminster.
Rhys Browne - Jordan Clarke broke his ankle and was out for 5-6 months, and the second choice, Jack Gwilliams was struggling for form, and didn't score as much as Clarke did. I brought in Rhys Browne as a rotational option, who can take his place if need be. Can play anywhere across the midfield and attacking midfield spots as well as striker.
Rohdell Gordon - The injuries which meant David Massey kept his place in the side were becoming more prominent, so I needed to sign a central midfielder with the quality to play at this level, which Gordon is. Can play anywhere in the midfield and attacking midfield like Browne, as well as DM and if need be DR.
Ross Doohan - Luke Purnell got a 7-8 week injury (Tore ankle ligaments), and backup keeper, Mensah Moss, isn't good enough to play 8 weeks straight. 18 year old Ryan Doohan is a backup when Luke Purnell comes back, but is good enough to play at this level.
Craig Proctor - Been watching this kid since he joined Newton Aycliffe last April, but I couldn't afford him. But this season I got the funds and signed him. Is only 14 and is really promising. He is 6'2" at 14 and has 11 marking.
Transfers Out:
Tom Jordan - The only significant departure. He was a player/coach and played 45 times last season. He didn't want to sign a new contract because apparently we didn't 'match his ambitions' but ironically dropped down a division to join Cirencester Town, but at 35 it wasn't the end of the world.
The friendlies were a relative success. We beat Newport County 2-1 who were relegated from League 2 last season. The next game, we beat Premier League side Crystal Palace's reserves, 2-1 again. However we did lose to Plymouth Argyle 2-1, but to score is a positive considering we're 3 divisions below.
We didn't get very far in the FA Cup, but we were knocked out by higher division opposition. However we begun our short stint in the FA Cup with a 6-2 aggregate victory over Durham, in the division below. Joe McClennan scored 3 in the two games. We got given Burton Albion in the next round and we lost 5-2 on aggregate, but we performed valiantly in both legs. Tristan Plummer and Bradley Ash were the goalscorers.
The Key Peformers:
Liam Dempsey - Doesn't get much praise, as, stats-wise, he is the worst player in the first eleven. However he has got 7 assists and 1 goal in 22 appearances
Harry Donovan - Was originally meant to be a rotational player but has played really well and kept his place. He has made 66 tackles, which is higher than all 4 centre backs. He has also got 3 assists and is averaging a 7.25 match rating
Tristan Plummer - He was our star player last season until his season ending injury. I was slightly concerned that he wouldn't be able to carry his form over. He started slowly, and I had to put him on either wing, but he managed to start scoring, so much so, I put him back up front, and he continued his goal scoring. He has scored 19 goals in 29 games, and is averaging 7.22 match rating.

Transfers In:
Jamar Lawrence - Liam Dempsey got a 7-8 week injury and I wasn't prepared to give second choice right back, Ben Withey, an extended run in the team. So I loaned in 15 year old Jamar Lawrence from Brentford. At 15 years old, he will start and will obviously have a bright future for Brentford.
DeVante Jacobs - Another emergency loan signing as we really struggled with injuries. The other 3 left wingers: Jack Gwilliams, Rhys Browne and Jacob Clarke were all out with injuries. DeVante Jacobs can in on loan from Welling Town, and was one of the best players at the club for the 2 months he was with us.
Transfer Out:
Tsvetan Filipov - His contract was up at the year, and he didn't want to sign a new contract. But because of the lack of interest, he was open to a new contract, but because of the financial difficulties the club finds itself in, I was unable to renew his contract. He is going to join Vereya Stara Zagora, to return to Bulgaria. Its a shame, as he has been a great servant to the club, making 71 appearances and scoring 8 goals in his Weston-Super-Mare career.
In a relatively dull game, where our key players weren't performing, it took a not-so-impressive, Dayle Grubb, to come off the bench and secure the title for the Seagulls, at last.
Something I need to address for next season is the lack of goalscorers in the squad. Other than Tristan Plummer, who managed 29 goals, and maybe Dayle Grubb, who got 11, we lack goalscorers. Bradley Ash got 10 goals in 13 starts which is impressive for a backup. Jordan Clarke missed the first half of the season with a broken ankle, and he came back and after two sub appearances was out again for another month, and failed to recapture his form from last season. he only made 6 starts and scored once, and as a result, may have to sell him next year due to the rapid decline in ability, which is a shame given how influential he was last year.
The Key Performers:
Rohdell Gordon - Came in, in January, and has been the star player this season. Has played central midfielder and on both wings, and performed each time. I needed a right winger due to injuries, and he scored a brace. He played 22 games and got a 7.78 average rating with 9 PoM awards. Wanted more money than what we had at the time, but luckily, due to him recently joining, was unable to be snapped up by anyone else. But by winning the league, we gained the funds to give him a new contract. He is now the highest earner at the club.
Jamar Lawrence - At only 15, he is an incredible player. He has scored once and got 3 assists, and is the youngest goalscorer in the clubs history. Might try to get him back on loan next year, as I think he is good enough.
