Both are correct. The database version and the game version are not the same thing

when you start a new career the DB shows in bottom of opening screen-

That's actually the game version mate. The database version shows only in the top right corner in the drop down menu whose name I can't recall.

yep thats correct and at this stage the DB will just be default until the Winter update comes out
think the OP has confused me
as to start a new career the DB now will always be the default one until Winter update and then it will be 20.3.0
