I only caught the last ten minutes but from what I heard we certainly didn't deserve to lose the game, although I'm aware Andy Townsend's backing of English sides is ridiculous so I'll take that with a pinch of salt. Gutted to lose, but sometimes in football you don't get what you deserve and the key is how you respond to disappointing results. We've still good a good chance of qualifying and if we get our shit together we are capable of getting a result in Dortmund or Napoli.

Yeah, ITV really need to tone down their bias and support of the British sides. I don't want commentators to sound like fanboys.

I mean, a really sizeable proportion will want the British side to lose anyway.

I didn't think so. He didn't really 'swing' his elbow, he just had it up and backed into whoever it was. Tyldesley screaming: "HE SHOULD BE OFF!!!!" as soon as the replay shows is a bit over the top

Of course he did. There was never a reason to raise his arms like he did. It should have been a straight red

Agreed.

Nothing spectacular but a good win nonetheless.

Good to see Torres net a brace also.

The ball was in the air and he was going for a header. That's reason enough

Anyone got a gif or vid of Lewa's elbow?

I saw it in the pub and didn't think there was really anything to it. Surprised there has been more discussion of that than Arsenal's disallowed goal but I was only have watching both incidents.

All I can find is this picture of it, which is useless at determining anything

It was a good game tbf, could have gone either way. Arsenal really dominated the end of each half though, should have scored in the last 10 minutes but Dortmund stuck it out and it was a perfect counter attack

You seem to forget that he didn't jump much at all and his arms weren't even in a jumping movement. The lack of GIF or video though is annoying

Holding the defender off. He was up against Mertesacker all night in fairness, hence why his arms might have been too high on Koscielny

You may be right on the last point but why then throw his elbows back and not a straight arm

I didn't see it so won't comment but at the end of the day, Sagna shouldn't have been tearing up the right wing in the last ten minutes of a game against a side famous for their counter-attacking prowess. The result puts a lot of pressure on us in the return fixture but I'm confident that if we pull our fingers out and learn from our mistakes that we can get a result in Dortmund.

Didn't Nastasic injure himself during pre-season on a dodgy pitch?
