- In February 2025, Football Manager 25 was officially canceled due to repeated delays and quality concerns. instead, Sports Interactive shifted focus to the next installment: FM26
- On August 13, 2025, the first teaser trailer for Football Manager 26 dropped. It promised a “Match Day First Look” and signaled the franchise’s return
- On September 10th, 2025, the release date was leaked on Steam and later announced officially

Release Outlook
- In June 2025, a Sega Report confirms FM26 to be scheduled to be released on Fall 2025 with the promise of a “significant improvement of the quality” over previous titles
- Speculation from gaming outlets and historical patterns point toward a November 2025 launch window—possibly late October to early November—with early access potentially in late October
Past FM25 Information (Canceled Edition)
Although Football Manager 25 was officially canceled in February 2025, several features and changes had already been revealed or leaked. Many of these are still expected to influence FM26.
Confirmed & Announced Features
- Unity Engine: FM25 was set to run on Unity, bringing smoother animations, a redesigned UI, and more immersive match visuals. FM26 is confirmed to continue with Unity.
- Premier League Licence: a landmark 4-year deal signed in June 2024 ensured official Premier League logos, kits, and player photos for the first time. This carries into FM26.
- Women’s Football: originally announced back in 2021, women’s football was due for full integration in FM25. It’s now confirmed as part of FM26.
- Save Game Transfers: managers would have been able to import their FM24 saves into FM25. It’s unclear if FM26 will still allow backward save compatibility.
- New Branding: FM25 introduced a new logo (football icon with a pink theme) and a shortened name format: “Football Manager 25” instead of “Football Manager 2025.” FM26 appears to continue this updated branding style.

- Expanded Data Hub with deeper statistical insights.
- New Tactical Insights to fine-tune strategies.
- Improved Scouting & Transfers including advanced analysis tools and more personalized reports.

Removed / Deferred Features
Some features were cut from FM25 but were expected to return in FM26, but with a leap year we dont know if it's now or beyond:
- Create-A-Club – scheduled to return in FM26 with major changes.
- Challenge Mode – planned for a full revamp in FM26/27.
- Versus Mode – removed from FM25, uncertain future.
- Touchline Shouts, Social Media Screen, and Data Chalkboard – scrapped permanently.
- International Management – removed from desktop FM25 but kept on FM25 Mobile.
Other Notes
- Arabic Language was to be added for the first time.
- Spanish - Latin America was added
- On October 6th, 2025, Arabic was removed from Steam


- Newgen Faces were teased in early screenshots, showing more realistic player models.

New UI Revealed
On September 10th, 2025, Sports Interactive unveiled Football Manager 2026’s new user interface, marking the biggest visual overhaul in the series’ history.
- Built on a “clarity without compromise” design philosophy, FM26 introduces a modern tile-based layout, a streamlined top navigation bar, and The Portal a unified hub connecting messages, fixtures, scouting, and news.
- It’s faster, cleaner, and fully customizable, with smart bookmarks, dynamic player profiles, and a new in-game search system powered by FMPedia. Compared to earlier previews, the FM26 interface looks noticeably sharper and more cohesive, a clear step up from previous versions.



Introducing Women’s Football
First revealed as a long-term goal in 2021, women’s football is now officially part of Football Manager 26, fully integrated, not a standalone mode, built from the ground up by a 40-person research team, maintaining FM’s signature realism with a shared 20-point attribute scale calibrated for the women’s game.

Tactical Overhaul
On October 2nd, 2025, SI revealed more about the the most significant tactical upgrade in series history:
- Dual Formations: you now have an In and out of Possession formations
- Redesigned Tactics Menu
- The Visualiser: a new tool within Team Instructions that breaks down tactical movements by thirds of the pitch and how roles adapt dinamically

Also on October 6th, 2025, SI confirmed Arabic language will not be available on FM26 launch. Remaining part of their long-term plans, with a post-release update planned once it meets internal quality standards.
