The fact that Defoe didn't receive any sort of ban when he bit Mascherano should work in Suarez's favour, funny no one ever mentions Defoe having bitten someone in the past though

Defoe is clearly more hungry for goals

How is spitting worse than biting?

I meant in terms of overreaction. Spitting always has a massive overreaction.

Ref was right infront of them so he probably saw it.

Still shouldn't be treated any differently though

And the ref booked both Defoe and Mascherano, so he punished Defoe for the bite meaning he dealt with the incident, therefore the FA couldn't punish him further due to FIFA regulations.

Doesn't excuse what he did though.

Yes, but you like him because he's a cunt.

That's not the defence I want.

He's the most fascinating man n the Premier League today. I really hope he gets divorced and then starts going out in Liverpool.

Yeah i get that, just find it odd that people would always bring up the bite incident regarding Suarez even before the Evra stuff but the Defoe bite was just forgotten about

On a side note, why was Welbeck at the game?

Doesn't matter, I hate when people bring up past incidents of wrongdoing to try and justify a current issue.

Suarez is a cunt plain and simple.

I love him however.

Hope he's banned next week though or he'll eat us alive \o/

Whilst not trying to defend Luis Suarez and his biting incident, let’s try and keep things in perspective. During almost every game of football, every weekend, week in, week out, we see potentially career-ending tackles where players go in high, over the ball, sometimes two-footed. In a lot of cases, the horror tackles go either un-noticed by the ref, or, and in a lot of cases, un-punished. If you look closely at the replay from this afternoon, Suarez is being held as he challenges for the ball, as he very often is when he’s in the penalty area. Maybe, after being constantly held, pulled, and dragged by opposing players, he’d had enough. Still doesn’t justify what he did, but bearing in mind the other multiple horror tackles that happened in other games, this weekend alone, let’s keep all of this in some sort of perspective. No doubt, the Suarez-hating FA and media will be calling for a lengthy ban, for what is actually, a very minor incident, in comparison to almost breaking someone’s ankle or leg.

I really don't see how a 10/12 match ban is going to teach him a lesson. Like some of you said, he got a 7 match ban in Holland for biting, yet he's done it again today.

I've always said, crime for crime. If you kill someone, you should be killed. You blind someone, you should be blinded, etc. (obviously wouldn't work but they're just my views) Let Ivanovic take a chunk out of Suarez and let see if he likes it. Ban/fine him as much as you want, he'll always be a cunt and will always cause trouble. But what a player he is.

And at least he's restored a bit of life here with everyone commenting ha!

Spitting at an opponent is one of the lowest things you can do on a football pitch.

It's disgusting.

Biting someone is very dangerous and potentially worse than a high tackle. Something needs to be done about him as he is clearly not mentally fit to play

True. Rather be spat at than have a serious injury and potentially lose millions of pounds and the risk of not recovering/not fully recovering though.

I find it hilarious the lengths some will go to defend a footballer who plays for their side. It's really odd; yeah you don't need to like the players personally, but you don't need to defend them against everything they do wrong.

If you bite their throat out, then yeah, but not a nip on the arm which didn't even leave a mark.

I heard that - almost as bizarre as Suarez actually biting an opponent.

How can you blame the guy, Ivanovic clearly walks into his closing mouth ffs.

Really not sure what goes through his head to do that on a pitch, I could maybe understand stuff like tripping someone to gain advantage but really do not see what he gains from this and surely he doesn't think he'd get away. Wonder what the ban will be.

Saying that he's a fantastic player so despite all the shite I'd keep him at the club.

Im not saying it to justify it just interesting how people choose to forget an incident for one player and not another

Yeah of course, but most bad tackles aren't malicious even if they are dangerous they're just the unfortunate by product of other factors.

Deliberately going out to hurt or injure is worse, obviously, but spitting is still bad.

Defoe isn't as consistently a cunt.

Next question.

Also, 'other people do bad stuff too' is a terrible, terrible defence.
