LA Galaxy wouldn't let him play in the friendlies coming up (1 against England) and everyone was delighted. Then he got afraid that he would lose his place in the squad so he's 'negotiated' with the club to let him go. Prick couldn't let us have these 2 games

Starting lineup to face the Faroe Islands has been announced and I'm happy with it apart from the inclusion of Simon Cox over James McClean, have no idea what Trapattoni is thinking doing that. Delighted to finally see Wes Hoolahan given a chance in a competitive fixture, hopefully he and Keane will combine well and we'll win comfortably.

Simon Cox has been preferred on the wing to James McClean, and although this may raise a few eyebrows, Trap insists it is down to options.

"I have done this because we can change the system, we can play also Walters on the right wing and Cox central with Robbie if we need to In this game it is important to try everything possible to win. We could also switch positions, with McGeady on the right and Cox or Walters on the left. and McClean cannot play on the right, so it limits our options to change."

Miles better? The stats suggest otherwise really.

McClean can't play on the right? Why is that? This is the same man who said James McCarthy isn't creative enough (wouldn't have started against Sweden if Glenn Whelan hadn't been injured) and called Shane Long idiotic.

He's a striker and scored 7 goals in 41 games, that's a shit return and he even admitted it.

He also went 20+ games without a goal. Great for him that he put in 6 more assists in a lower league and not really surprising McClean's assists are low considering what he was supplying at Sunderland. Simon Cox isn't a winger, simple as that and he shouldn't be used as a winger.

McClean is a poor player. Traditional winger, knock past opponent, whip a ball in - every single time. He has nothing else to his game.

He has a good cross on him but stop him doing that and he's fucking useless.

Aiden McGeady and Sean St Ledger have withdrawn from the squad for the games against Sweden and Austria next month.

Bit of a blow losing two experienced players and especially losing McGeady considering he can create chances.
