Defending him every step of the way?

He's not immune to criticism and some of it is well and truly deserved.

Some of it is regarding team selection mainly, but Brady's points were perfectly valid; We qualified for a major tournament, recently we've only lost to Russia, Germany, Spain, Italy and Croatia, not exactly footballing minnows like ourselves. Trap has started to play decent football and he's started introducing new players (Brady, Wilson, Coleman to an extent, McCarthy, Fahey) so it's not like he's doing nothing.

Coleman, Wilson, McCarthy and Fahey aren't new players really, they've been around, he just wouldn't select them. I'm perfectly fine with us losing to Germany, Spain, Italy or Croatia, if we put up a fight, which we didn't. I won't include Russia in that sentence because at home we could have got something because we fought. In Moscow however we somehow didn't get beat and we struggled like fuck to beat Armenia at home.

Generally speaking his tactics have been extremely defensive and certain players like Shane Long and Darron Gibson have been constantly overlooked for the likes of Keith Andrews and Simon Cox. We're not as bad a team as he or the media makes us out to be. We're not Brazil or Spain, we never have been or will be, but we've never rolled over and taken it up the arse like we did against the Germans the other night.

Also qualifying for a major tournament was fantastic, but how long can you keep saying that like it's a get out of jail card? We were absolutely horrendous against Kazakhstan and absolutely dreadful against Germany.

Except you're forgetting that we are in the exact position anyone would have expected when Qualifying started. Win vs Kazakhstan, loss to Germany and win against the fairies. The performances haven't been great, but he's managed to introduce new players and a new style of play to the squad (you know what I mean by 'new' without really affecting our qualifying chances. Richard Dunne being out affected our fight against Germany, that I'm sure of

Surely you must understand where I am coming from with my viewpoint?

Also it's no secret that I want Long in the team ahead of Robbie Keane.

I understand where you're coming from, definitely.

Fair enough we've got the win against Kazakhstan and Faroe Islands, but the manner of beating the former was disgraceful. As for the Germany game we both know it wasn't acceptable. I think Dunne may have helped, but that brings us to another issue, why is Ciaran Clark sitting on the bench whilst Darren O'Dea starts??

It's all pointless now anyway, the FAI will either get rid or they'll stick with him until March when we've got a double header against Sweden (away) and Austria (home). Those two games will make or break our qualifying campaign, we must not lose against Sweden and we must beat Austria.

He played really well when he came on at half time. The sooner Dunner is back the better. It will mean O'Shea can go RB and Coleman LB and Ward can go back to his cave

He won't drop Coleman though. He got MOTM last night and was ridiculously good going forward.

Might be an idea to put him on the wing with McClean dropping to the bench.

Because they don't have separation of church and state.

How can a country be religious?

Apparently that was the best explanation an Irish hospital could come up with when a woman died after they refused to abort the dying foetus inside her.

Read and prepare to facepalm.

Kevin Kilbane has retired from football with immediate effect.

He wasn't the greatest player but he always gave it a crack, bit disappointed he actually missed out on Euro 2012 (pretty sure due to injury) because he was a great servant for Ireland.

Norwich winger Anthony Pilkington is hopeful of gaining international clearance to represent the Republic of Ireland next year.

The 24-year-old played for the under-21s in October 2008, and was watched last weekend by current assistant manager Marco Tardelli.

Pilkington continued his good goalscoring form to set Norwich on their way against the Latics.

He said: "I have had a call off them [FAI] and I am just sorting out the papers at the moment.

"It depends what happens with the next game, which I think is February. I've just got to sort the papers out and take it from there.

"My grandma originates from Ireland - she's from Dublin - so I am more than happy to play for them if selected."
