Dembele was utterly useless as the number ten. Ideally you'd want to have Lamela operating in that hole, but Townsend, Lennon and Chadli are so awful at crossing you'd much rather have Lamela, who has a pretty good cross on him, out wide and then have Eriksen linking up with Soldado. That was the biggest problem they had, getting him into the game.

Lamela will play on the wing, Eriksen is the advanced playmaker.

I thought Lamela was a LW?

And I didn't mean Dembele as a number ten, just maybe the most forward orientated of a Dembele/Capoue/Paulinho midfield, in a 4-3-3. And Eriksen as the 'proper' AMC if Villas-Boas wants to play one.

Lloris - Walker, Dawson, Vertongen - Rose - Paulinho, Capoue - Townsend, Eriksen, Lamela - Soldado

That would probably work.

Holtby, I see him as more of a CM so it'd be down to him/sandro/capoue/paulinho for starting. Sigurdsson, as much as I love the guy, I think he's either going out on loan or will be sold by tomorrow or end of Jan

His natural position is a central player, but he was player out wide at Roma and given license to cut inside. He was being groomed as Totti's successor and I can see him over time transitioning back into the central role, much in the same way Bale moved from out wide into a free central role. His skill set is much more suited to that area of the pitch.

Well last season he played on the right for Roma and he cut inside so I guess it's Lamela - Eriksen - Chadli. But as much as I love Chadli, he didn't impressed me.

Genuinely can't remember the last time we played well there, and Moyes impersonation of Fergie picking spastic teams was pretty good.

Young was poor, Giggs was fucking awful. Cleverley was pretty bad and even Carrick too.
