Couldn't really lie about it though, as he stands up and spits at Evans, Evans is spitting down so can say he was just spitting on the ground and knowing FA they'll believe it

He's quite clearly spitting at Cisse.

Its going to backfire as well because he'll just end up getting more games added to any ban because he lied

Aye it's as clear as day he's spitting at Cisse.

He won't get banned.

He'll admit spitting on the ground and deny spitting at Cisse.

I'd say he'll get banned, but doubt it'll be for six games, probably get a two match ban.

I don't really see what difference anything he says will make.

Yeah doubt it will matter as the video evidence says it all really.

Depends on the FA really, but wouldn't be surprised, plus he might appeal it, it's obvious he can use spitting at the ground rather than at Cisse as an excuse

I find it odd that people get longer bans for spitting than head-butting or elbowing someone.

Or John Terry for racial abuse. Good old FA.

Well i'd rather be head butted or elbowed than spat on, its fucking disgusting. The worst offence you can do on a football pitch.

Evans has denied his charge.

Hope he gets an extra game added for frivolous appeal.

Hmm i disagree.

Racism and physical contact are worse imo.

I've just rewatched MOTD, to me Evans clearly aims a spit at Cisse. Denying it is just idiotic looking at that footage, both kicked out at each other and spat at each other, both deserve bans.

That being said, it's definitely not the worst thing you can do on the field. Disgusting yes, but I think racial abuse and career-ending tackles are just two examples of things that are worse.

EDIT: Just as I post Evans has been given a six game ban and Cisse a seven game ban.

I agree with the consensus - its disgusting, but its not a leg-breaking tackle or racism. The day after the incident, Sky's Alan McInally was calling for a ten game ban for both of them, which would've been really over the top.

Also nice to see a big "fuck you" to Paul Scholes after his biased view that Evans would never have done such a thing.

Probably only going to see Cisse for 2-3 more games now at NUFC.

30 years old and the summer will be the last chance for a big fee.

I haven't seen the footage and can't be bothered following it up, but did Evans spit at Cisse first, with Cisse then returning the gesture? If so, surely Evans warrants the same ban, if not longer for instigating the situation?

Yeah, Evans does spit first.

Cisse got seven games because he's been sent off already this season. I think.

Aye he's already been banned so gets one more.

Nice to see Evans coming out with absolutely 0 dignity after spitting on someone then refusing to apologise

Same here. At least leg-breaking tackles, elbows etc are 'part of the game' and expected to some degree. Spitting is a purposeful thing done outside the 'realm' of the football pitch and absolutely disgusting

Not really VP, I play a lot of football and id much rather be spat on than have my leg broken.

Regardless of circumstance.

Spitting is disgusting, but I reckon the 7-8 month of rehabilitation you'd have to go through for a broken leg would outweigh that. You'd probably have forgotten about the incident about 3 weeks later.
