David Conn now moaning about clubs being owned overseas as they could be used for tax avoidance reasons. FFS. He was having a moan about clubs making a profit last week. No evidence whatsoever that there is any wrong doing.

Really fucking hate David Conn.

He does grate a bit, doesn't he?

He's generally got a point, he's just so evangelical about it all that it gets pretty annoying.

Utd being in the Cayman Islands and Spurs being in the Bahamas is not "hinting at possible tax avoidance", it's glaringly obvious. Then trying to say Delaware is a tax haven Also "This club is based in a country where its owners are from. TAX FRAUD!!!!!".

Interesting to see Cheltenham and the likes being owned in tax havens though

Can't believe Joe 'lives in a yacht in the Bahamas' Lewis has got his shareholding registered offshore. That is shocking.

And yeah he does normally have a point, but he has a moan at everything that isn't fan ownership. Can imagine him having a go at a club for using losses brought forward to cheat the Great British Taxpayer. Aston Villa today switched from Digestive biscuits to Jaffa Cakes in their press room in a disgusting tax avoidance scheme.

Also pisses me off how he always goes after easy targets. He's wrote loads of articles about Wonga, but only once they sponsored Newcastle. Hearts and Blackpool get a pass for some reason and acts like Wonga is destroying the North East. Newcastle has a far bigger problem with gambling and alcohol.

Yeah, that was basically my point. He's alright in small doses but he just gets annoying after a while.

Delaware is a tax haven: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/01/business/how-delaware-thrives-as-a-corporate-tax-haven.html?_r=0

Tbh I'm more surprised something like this hasn't already been discussed by sports writers, given various corporations, celebrities and most players are noted tax avoidees.

It's a tax haven if you're based in the US though, so not really a 'worldwide' one like the author is suggesting like the Cayman Islands

PFA Young Player of the Year nominations:

Thibaut Courtois, Philippe Coutinho, David de Gea, Eden Hazard, Harry Kane & Raheem Sterling.

Hazard for both? Also not sure why Coutinho is in there.

Hazard for POTY and Kane for YPOTY.

Coutinho scored a few goals when the voting was being done. Plus Terry nominated him to help Hazard win

Surely at least one of Fabregas, Rooney, Terry, Aguero or Matic are ahead of Coutinho though?

This.

Kane will probably win both as he's English though.

Agueros been shit, Rooney not really anything special. Same with Matic and Fabregas really, but that's more do with their position, they just do their job sort of thing.

Coutinho's been decent tbf, although he probably doesn't deserve to be in there.

Fabregas has 16 assists in the Prem alone this season and both Cazorla and even Ramsey have better goals/assist stats this season than Coutinho. No idea how he is in there.

  • I think they were interested in Di María and Sanchez, we certainly tried to sign Sanchez a few years ago.
  • They don't really need Ozil, given they already have David Silva who is both a better player and already settled in.
  • Chelsea wouldn't have sold Mata to City.
  • Bit weird they don't seem to have tried for Kroos or Thiago though.

Ozil is a far better player than Silva. When City raided Valencia they got the wrong player as they should have picked up Mata instead

In what world are Ozil and Mata better than David Silva? They're all good players but Silva is definatly the best.

Aye, the joint top scorer in the league has been shit.

David Silva is one of the premier league's greatest 'imports' to coin a phrase from Sky.

Mata and Ozil have nowhere near the same level of consistency as Silva over the last few years.

And aguero has been shit since Christmas

He hasn't been as good since Christmas but regardless, he was absolutely brilliant before and he's still joint top scorer.

Mata's second season at Chelsea was better than anything Silva or Ozil have produced, tbf (12 goals and 12 assists).

He suffered because of managerial change etc - but I feel if he was used correctly throughout his entire time in England he'd be regarded as better or just as good as Silva.
