Simeone signed a contract until 2020 just a few days ago. I imagine Atletico would demand a massive compensation fee from anyone trying to lure him away.

Money isn't an object for Arsenal, not anymore at least. The next manager is more important than any player we bring in. I thought at the sluggish start to the season that Wenger would leave at the end of this season, but I think he'll retire after the next one.

Thats what I meant, a 20m release clause to CL clubs. Surely it would be more considering those clubs will have more money?

You'd imagine it'd be more considering Spurs bought him for about €15m.

You never know though, I mean Reus had a low buyout clause.

It's usually the player/agent that forces it. The cheaper the transfer free the higher the signing on fee for them.

If it's the option of buying them with the clause or not buying them at all, you're obviously still going to go for it.

Read a piece yesterday by Tor-Kristian Karlsen who suggested Nat Clyne, Ron Vlaar and Mauro Icardi should be Man Utd's summer signings. And maybe Schneiderlin for midfield. He's usually not far off in his sayings about transfers, prospects etc.
