How was Rooney not booked for that attempt to hack Hazard down?

I really wish we'd take Falcao off.

Dominating possession but unable to get any good chances. Chelsea set up very well.

Probably Shaw's best game for us so far.

Can't see us getting a goal.

Considering how worried I was before kick off I'm pleased enough with how we played. Just wish our crossing/final ball was more incisive. Really impressed by Shaw and McNair as well.

Typical Jose tactics, but they did the job.

We weren't good enough, dominated possession but did nothing well with it. I can't wait for Falcao to leave.

I'm looking forward to next season though, we'll be good.

I think thats harsh, we were no worse than Chelsea.

We were shaded in a close game of few chances, but I wouldn't say 'not good enough' was the impression I got. If anything, it was noticeable how little there was between the teams despite our injuries and I dare say had we been able to have Rooney further forward with one of Carrick or Blind available it might have been a different story.

I think I was a bit harsh, I meant that we didn't create enough chances and didn't really look like scoring. We played very well, dominating at Chelsea is impressive and considering our injuries we did very well.

Falcao offered nothing, it was his last chance I think. He didn't perform well enough.

I think Falcao is long past last chances but I thought he was decent, but for the money you'd expect a lot more. Obviously difficult on your own against a 6 man defence and all that. I don't think its the league for him, and he's not the player he once was.

I thought it was funny myself.

Not 'prickly' as the BBC described it. Weird description.

I still love Mata and was so glad he got a great reception. Virtually everyone stood up and clapped when he came off

I thought we did well enough knowing United were the ones needing the result, we just didn't want to lose. We were definitely lucky early on with Rooney really should have buried his chance, while a better final ball into the box by United's players and it could have resulted in a really good start for them. Chelsea took their chance though and Hazard is sublime. Thought Drogba did well enough considering how little football he's played overall and being 37 and all, but really, we need another striker with some pace. Drogba just doesn't have the legs anymore and it makes it harder to get in behind sides.

I'm also going to stick up for Falcao a little and say that United really don't play to any of his strengths whatsoever. He was actually making some really good runs off the ball that deserved far better service than he got. I noticed he gets ignored quite a bit at times with the ball being sprayed wide instead.

George Caulkin is a wank. It's all emotive bollocks which treats Newcastle fans as stupid.

From trophy to atrophy: We didn't have any fucking trophies anyway. And the clubs is deluded enough not to actually celebrate the ones we have won. You'd literally have to be 50+ to remember the last time Newcastle won a cup. And despite reaching the final - Gullit and Dalglish were sacked. Souness was never viewed as a good manager despite his very good cup record. Keegan's poor cup record is overlooked. Pardew reaching the QF twice in the last 3 years is completely buried.

Over the last couple of years, Newcastle have made me want to turn away. From this loveless club, this lack of access and openness: Sir John Hall used to take us on holiday. Now they've stopped the spread in the press room.

He's a complete bellend. Mentions Keegan and Shearer, doesn't mention all of the years in the second division, or most of the time in the top flight doing no better than currently.

Seriously sounds like he's going to start talking about American Pie and the America he used to know.

Talking about how Newcastle are like a family - Newcastle actually keeping tickets (more) affordable than a lot of top flight clubs is fundamentally more important than anything else. What is the point of success or a trophy if you can't afford to go or be a part of it? If I was an Arsenal or West Ham fan I'm not so sure my dad would have been so willing to take me, and therefore nowhere near as connected to the club. Seriously I would rather watch John Carver lead Newcastle to midtable safety in League 1 then not watch Newcastle compete in the Champions League.

But then again most of the people boycotting wont be going anyway.

I swear all that's happened since the boycott was announced is fans spending time online slagging off each other for attending or not attending the game, and with it, slagging off anyone who offers a point of view even marginally different from the one that they hold. It's fucking ridiculous. If we could actually put a concentrated effort outward rather than inward, then something noticeable might actually be done today. But I just get the feeling we've spent more time arguing inwardly and any boycott is going to be marginal at best. Rumour is 6,000, but we've had lower crowds when there wasn't a public boycott, and that's even accounting for the fact attendance figures are routinely exaggerated to be higher than they are.

In the meantime I've heard lots of guff from alleged sources, that chancer Carver and ex-players on Ashley's payroll (Moncur, Beardsley) that we're actually going to spend and compete in the cups more frequently than we have (yes, we made those two QF's under Pardew, but they are exceptions by quite a margin). I'll believe it when I see it.

They're not really exaggerated - just goes off tickets sold rather than physical attendance. - The difference on a normal week will be what? 50?

My friend once attended a meeting and said that all the little factions sat in groups apart from each other. Remember last time when they couldn't decide which minute to (not) walk out on? imo all 'they' want is attention anyway. They all seem absolutely desperate to get in the papers. Michael Martin and Steve Wraith in particular.

Pardew normally put out a team to win in the cups. It's a myth he got knocked out on purpose. They were just often rubbish. Brighton away was the only time I can remember when I thought he wouldn't mind too much to get knocked out. Brighton 1, Cardiff and Stevenage he definitely went into win, the team just fucked up as they often do in the League.

Police averages claimed Manchester United were regularly over-stating attendances by 10,000, and in many cases more: http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/revealed-manchester-uniteds-old-trafford-2592078

Its counted by tickets sold (inc season ones already paid for long ago) so its not out of the realms of possibility they might claim its higher than it actually is. Only way you'd know for sure is asking police turnstile counters, as was done here.

I don't think you can get something like this off the ground and continue pressing the publicity for it without being attention seeking. Plus change is entirely possible for starting by some loudmouth nuisances gathering support. I'm not saying its a good way, but it is a way and it seems to have gathered some momentum. After all, it was loudmouths that got people to notice the problems at Liverpool during their previous owners' run, yet at the time nobody was saying that Liverpool fans were lucky to be in the Premier League so should shut up when Hicks & Gilett were crashing and burning that enterprise.

But whatever. It just feels set to be an anti-climax. At least despite its fairly chaotic organisation, the Cardiff protest did leave an impression. I'd say the double walkout effect was actually quite good. This just doesn't feel like it has enough support and the fans seem more interested in arguing with one another. Or at least online they do, anyway.

On another note, Alan Smith apparently claimed Man City fans have had to "sit and suffer." Please - the owners of City are very much the opposite of the fucking Oystons.
