Sour grapes time - Wigan are back in this because of Mark Halsey.

Had the team of officials at Wigan-Newcastle disallowed the handball goal, we'd have gone home with a point but more importantly, Wigan would be 2 shorter. This would mean their mountain would be steeper, and who knows where it would've gone if McManaman had been sent off for his alleged tackle - almost certainly not 3 points. Now there's the very real possibility of us being relegated from Wigan on goal difference and all because of the fucking referee.

I had let it go to boot.

1-1. Crap.

Either a 2nd Potters goal or Southampton and Spurs pummel them will help.

I had figured Norwich would be our patsies in the face of a Wigan revival but Sunderland works too. They look in trouble.

Still gotta win at QPR, naturally

I think you'll beat QPR. Anyone should beat QPR.

Sunderland and Chelsea got 1 point from their 2 games vs them. Impressively. But I digress - if we can't beat QPR our status will be in supermassive trouble. Pardew has to get it across anything less than 3 points and we're stuffed.

As for Pardew, someone in the other threat mentioned Rene Girard should be chased as a successor. French press say we've been presented an offer to appoint him.

That scene at the end of Luke Steele just calmly wandering around his box with the ball whittling down the clock was brilliantly absurd. In keeping with the rest of the division tbf.

So what are the chances Jordan Rhodes won't be at Blackburn Rovers next season?

Can see him heading to Spurs or Liverpool.

I think if we stay up we should sign him. Probably not on our radar given he's neither French or has Premier League experience, but he could do a job for us.

I still think the play-off final will be between Watford and Brighton but the momentum has moved against the Hornets given the way they ended and the way Leicester secured their spot.

Who would you actually get rid off? Aside from Pardew.

Theoretically you could kick Pardew up the arse and tell him to stop giving the team such a cowardly mindset. We lack attacking nerve - 3 goals in 6 league games is not good enough - and something needs to be done to correct this for the last two games. It's no good saying "we need these results to stay up" if we get nowhere near the fucking goal for the bulk of the game.

A lot of things need changing. We can't afford to stay back almost all game. We can't afford to have the usual slow start to the second half. For QPR at least, we have to go for it. Our defence looked a lot more secure vs West Ham but our attack still lacks something.

It's doubtful as to the merits of Pardew to build for the future - who is getting a kicking from almost the entire fanbase - but surely he can prove capable of keeping us up. Surely he knows relegation would finish him as a credible gaffer.

The worst thing Newcastle United could do now is gamble on other results going their way.

They've simply got to pick up a win in their last two games.

No, of course - as much as I feel worried at the thought of Sunderland and Wigan lapping us by our next kick-off, we have to win at QPR next Sunday. No win is the real doom maker.

I feel like I've had the question "what is going wrong?" being posed every week this season. Everything is going wrong - players aren't performing, the manager is clueless, there's stupidly bad luck with injuries and referee decisions. A huge shake-up is required next year, and that's just if we stay up. If we go down, we're fucked.

As said I think our human shield is Norwich - I don't see them beating WBA or Man City. We should be able to pick up something to keep us up to keep us above them.

I don't feel comfortable saying this as I like Hughton and I'd rather Norwich stayed up than Wigan, but that is the reality of the situation.

Until today I was optimistic but after the referee gifted Wigan victory and took a victory from us, we're in significant trouble.

Our only hope is that Norwich take 0 points, which I think will happen. But that's the only reason I see to be cheerful.

On a scale of 1 to 10 do you think we'll stay up?

This last few games has seen my mood slide down the scale at an alarming rate. If we don't beat QPR next weekend it could well be curtains.

Cisse's 'goal' was tricky to tell but it looked over in real time and on replays, andthat should have been enough. If the referees had called them right it means we could've had 5 extra points (today and the Wigan fiasco).

Everything now though is pointing to us being in the bottom 3 ahead of QPR, and Pardew seems to show no ambition. No matter which tier we're in next season the question needs to ask "is he good enough?"

The stage was set for Watford and of all the things to happen. I feel sorry for the goalkeeper - senior debut after Watford's first choice goalkeepers got injured, and he's conceded 2 soft goals.

Still, well done to Hull for getting into the top flight.

I find it quite bizarre that there's been so many turns and twists but as it stands the key positions will end in the exact same way. Unless of course there's a change... don't rule it out.

He reminds me of Jonas Gutierrez for Newcastle - lots of running, but little end product. Granted, it's a lot more intelligent running and he can actually play with the ball, but he does seem to be lacking something. Maybe a good idea for MUFC to focus on helping his finishing ability in pre-season as he did look a good little player last season.

Oddly, I'm at Spurs on FM12 and a few seasons before I joined, Welbeck scored 38 in 38 a few seasons before to win them the league. Which is pretty ridiculous for any striker, nevermind DW.

Welbeck's played some brilliant stuff this season, and although he's goal return has been poor that doesn't mean that he hasn't been useful.

I've obviously not watched MUFC that much then because he barely scores or assists and often looks like an odd one out up top. So what does he offer?

Yup, Leicester in play-offs despite Bolton coming from 2-0 down to equalise v Blackpool, while Peterborough are now in the bottom 3.

16 minutes added time at Watford... that's fucking crazy. Though of course, it looked like a horrible injury for the Watford keeper.

Unconfirmed NUFC teamsheet:
Elliott - Simpson, Coloccini, S. Taylor, Yanga-Mbiwa - Cabaye, Tiote, Jonas - Ben Arfa, Cisse, Gouffran

What? Welbeck's been far better than those two.

How is one goal (two in all comps) better?

He was a useful option last season but this season he's gone backwards and not really offered as much as he's made out to be.

I think The Sun are about to be added to the "banned" list, or at least sued, judging by the club's response to some crap about HBA going to the gym in a PSG kit.

Proving doubters wrong. That a boy Stewie!!

Downing is still not a £20m player but he has shown significant improvement this season.

Lennon is alright but Valencia and Young haven't really impressed at MUFC. Not as bad as Welbeck, but neither have been amazing.

Our alleged new kits:

I like the middle kit but it's annoying how willing Puma are to refuse to go beyond templates. Plus that yellow kit is terrible. I'd take this:

Krul

Debuchy - Coloccini - Steven Taylor - Santon

Cabaye - Sissoko - Marveaux

Ben Arfa - Cisse - Ba

Tbh, there's not really been much to shout about and some of these options I doubt.

We've banned the Daily Mail before so this is hardly a new idea of ours. But we do seem to be opening ourselves up for trouble.

Interesting though how little is made of the fact Ferguson regularly bans journalists.
