I swear all that's happened since the boycott was announced is fans spending time online slagging off each other for attending or not attending the game, and with it, slagging off anyone who offers a point of view even marginally different from the one that they hold. It's fucking ridiculous. If we could actually put a concentrated effort outward rather than inward, then something noticeable might actually be done today. But I just get the feeling we've spent more time arguing inwardly and any boycott is going to be marginal at best. Rumour is 6,000, but we've had lower crowds when there wasn't a public boycott, and that's even accounting for the fact attendance figures are routinely exaggerated to be higher than they are.

In the meantime I've heard lots of guff from alleged sources, that chancer Carver and ex-players on Ashley's payroll (Moncur, Beardsley) that we're actually going to spend and compete in the cups more frequently than we have (yes, we made those two QF's under Pardew, but they are exceptions by quite a margin). I'll believe it when I see it.

So it literally has been spent mostly on strengthening the team? Newcastle as far as I'm aware still deal in cash - And Newcastle spent net roughly £18m last summer. Add in the Yanga + Santon sales and should be about £28m in the bank before the TV money arrives. So should be around £50m net available in the summer.

Not sure why they have done it though.

Even so, its hardly the greatest thing to put out when its clear that large numbers of Newcastle fans are not impressed with the conduct and behaviour of those presiding over the whole enterprise. Although those in the sports media linking it with the boycott are reporting erroneously given that the call for it pre-dates the bank announcement.

I think the net spend for this season overall was something like £10-15million at most (although this is factoring in Santon, which is yet to be paid for, and Pardew, which most people haven't counted), and even with agent fees, I doubt we have lost the majority of the £34million banked and the £18million registered profit. Plus as said its before prize/TV money, even if we're looking at a shortfall this year for not being good enough for a top 10.

Utd being in the Cayman Islands and Spurs being in the Bahamas is not "hinting at possible tax avoidance", it's glaringly obvious. Then trying to say Delaware is a tax haven Also "This club is based in a country where its owners are from. TAX FRAUD!!!!!".

Interesting to see Cheltenham and the likes being owned in tax havens though

Delaware is a tax haven: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/01/business/how-delaware-thrives-as-a-corporate-tax-haven.html?_r=0

Tbh I'm more surprised something like this hasn't already been discussed by sports writers, given various corporations, celebrities and most players are noted tax avoidees.

It's been worked out where that missing money went. Turns out in the full accounts, just over £38million was taken out of the club and put in its cash flow account - £4.5million of which got taken off as an overdraft fee. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32322555

You can probably guess that didn't go down so well.

Seeing as the current players clearly don't look like they care, this is hardly conductive.

Are they not some of your better players?

Sissoko has shown a lack of effort for most of the last 16 months, Tiote has been cack since the 5th place season, and Coloccini should have been let go in January 2013 when he kept bitching and whining about leaving.

I don't think Cisse is a problem player, but he's missed an insultingly large amount of football, so if we're to keep him, he needs his indiscipline and injury problems worked on.

Clear out's clearly gonna be required. But I doubt we'll really get rid of 11+ players in one go and actually replace all of them.

Confirmed Yeovil have just hit back to back relegations! The drew at home against fellow strugglers Notts County was enough to stick the knife in! Oh what a miserable 24 months its been!

Seems like its all gone downhill ever since that victory at Milwall on the opening day of last season in the 2nd tier. Shame. Was kinda hope they stayed up last season, and certainly wasn't expecting that.

I don't feel very assured. We do have the potential to lose all our games and end the season on the wrong side of the bottom 3. But in all reality we'll probably scrape a few draws.

Predicting anything is going to be problematic. Most people I'm guessing predicted WBA to beat Leicester today. They needed it given that they have a painful looking run-in, and if they lose at Palace next week they'll be in bigger danger. Hull and Sunderland also have painful run-ins. Sunderland v Leicester on the second-to-last weekend of the season is looking like a pretty massive game.

Burnley staying up after spending relatively shit all would be an impressive achievement. QPR did spunk cash on wastes of time, sure, but if Chris Ramsey keeps them up in his first managerial job and after his early poor form, he's done very well.

Darlow I think may be a good signing long-term. But if we keep Krul then he's basically just an expensive number two, and they dropped him for a long time this campaign to boot, although I don't know if his replacement keep a clean sheet at all before Pearce was sacked and his replacement restored Darlow.

Anyone else finding Leicester and Aston Villa winning a bit uncomfortable for thought, even if Hull and Sunderland both lost badly?

Jesus wept. Last week we treated Sunderland like they were Barcelona while using Pardew's old defensive tactics, then he goes them and fucking hammers them.

Still, least it keeps them as human shields to the inevitable surge from one of the bottom 3.

With the right management I think MYM would've been a great defender, but him and Coloccini didn't work as a partnership. I think MYM's best performances came when Coloccini was out of the team - hell a pairing of him and Williamson kept a clean sheet vs Chelsea, and then one at Spurs (admittedly most of that was on Krul), before Colo was re-stored with MYM in a full back role and we failed to keep a clean-sheet at home to Norwich.

It's fairly clear Yanga-Mbiwa was not a full back, so why exactly Pardew kept playing him there remains a baffling one. But in any case I'd take him over Coloccini if offered right now. But a replacement for Williamson and/or Taylor (preferably both) is a must. Although the Nottingham Forest fans on Twitter seem to think we're mad for thinking Lascelles is that person. Which is assuring.

The Pardew Out brains trust has now established an Ashley Out campaign, and is calling for a boycott of the Spurs game in 11 days time.

Bet it still gets 50k. But maybe it is the start of a crusade to get the Sports Shite git out, and it seems like we haven't really had a concrete opening to any such campaign yet, or at least failed to capitalise on various attempts.

Mackay sacked by Wigan.

Disastrous appointment from the start.

Blimey they fell out of bed from virtually the minute they won the FA Cup.

Same can be said for post-Prem Blackpool, given they're now officially a League One team.

Some people have said player amoratisation allowed the club to appear like it had made a profit in 2012-13 when it had actually made a loss.

In any case this is a summary, not a full account listing. As the deadline for putting those out is this week, we'll probably get full verdicts and arguments later on down the line.

I have to say blaming the government for Newcastle's lack of success is a novel excuse. But its really odd that even after he's left he's making ridiculous excuses for why Pardew's Newcastle reign hit the bricks near the end.

It'll take a chunk but half of those expenses will have already been noted in the 2012/13 accounts, and even by doubling them, I highly doubt they equate to a significant chunk of £25million a year. Not least given Perch, Simpson, Harper and half a season of Cabaye's are also stricken off. £3.3million was the loan costs of LDJ and Remy, but I also doubt they added that much to wages, plus that's about £10million less than transfer fees spent in 2012-13. Not only less transfers but also theoretically less expenditure on home games as we played four less home games last season, and apparently matchday revenue decreased too.

The problem is of course the missing costs side of the account, yet with revenue rising by £33million and wages barely rising if at all, there is still money unaccounted for. Naturally there's accounting tricks and traps, mind. Nevertheless these are partial accounts and don't account for player trading and wages, so who knows how much of it there is on show.

While that's one argument, some have said Ashley's refusal to put in more than his share means the club is heavily reliant on TV money and player trading, which maybe an equally valid issue, not least given how commercial income has decreased since Ashley swanned in. Apparently Wonga are bailing as sponsors as well.

Yeah that's NCAA teams. Although I'm pretty sure NFL teams are happy to waste fuckloads of cash as well, even if they're not non-profits.

Journalists are visibly upset that Newcastle's profits are a lot lower than expected.

American sports teams have routinely been accused of creating phony expenses to make it seem like they're making less money than they actually are. It's not something out of the question.

Still, it is worth asking how costs went up by £30million in a season with less home games, or at least not by using it to pay back some of the Ashley loan. It's one thing that people don't trust a thing the fuckers running the joint say, not least given they have a certain reputation still for past sins, but there is something worth wondering aloud. Will you tell us why you don't see something suspicious?

I think one of the issues is that players were bought for a manager that wanted to play a different philosophy. Under the right manager, MYM would've been a success, but Pardew clearly didn't rate him, for example. It seems to me Pardew has the players he wants for his ideas at CPFC, or at least for now. The way around it is more input from the manager to get the players for the positions he thinks need it, and a final yes/no on potential targets for each position, plus coaching staff who know what they're doing to make it happen. But the board's control seems to hint that the two are going to be kept absent from one another again.

The odd thing with fitness is that we hired a fitness coach with a good reputation, and yet we seem to have gone backwards on injuries. Fuck knows how that's happened.

It is true we have very little strength in depth, but that's been the case for quite a while. Lee Charnley is presumably not the person for it - at no other club would someone make him an MD, or at least so quickly, and he looks like a fish out of water already.

Didn't you want rid of Jonas then?

Its a tricky one - most of us weren't impressed by Jonas' 2012-13 performances anyway, and I think we would've been a bit more sensitive had we realised his body was going through such a troublesome time. When he was loaned to Norwich I thought it was just to get him game-time after an injury, which in fairness to Pardew might have been what the line of thought was, even if he said it in an extremely idiotic way.

I imagine he'll stay for next year at least tbh. Then again I'm yet to watch a game in full since his return to the first team fold, so I don't know how well he has or hasn't played. But judging by what I've red, heard and seen in highlights, I'm thinking Ryan Taylor is the one in bigger danger of being let go at present.
What has happened to Ferrerya? He is a monster for Newcastle on one of my saves on FM, but I don't remember seeing him play for Newcastle in real life.

He played some pre-seasons games, one Capital One Cup tie, was on the bench a few times and hasn't been seen in quite a while.
