In the winning run earlier this season we mainly played 4-3-3 with Sissoko in a box to box roll and Colback and Abeid or Anita as deep liers. Maybe that should be looked into again. Might have to be given Cisse is most likely going to be out for a while.
Wtf was Tim Krul thinking?

Most of us have put the blame on Abeid. He got in the way of Gouffran, who looked to have Shrek under control, and then made the idiotic pass while falling to Krul, who did not want it. Rooney's running did not help Krul but his composure was non-existant. Don't know what the fuck Janmaat was doing either. He stood and watched the ball go past him.

Cisse and Evans getting a 6 game ban apparently.

One report said Cisse is getting 7 as this is his second red offence after the one he picked up v Everton in December.

Also, Newcastle apparently asked the FA to look into Evans spitting at Riviere after the non-awarded penalty incident. Not so sure on that one, although I haven't seen any close-ups.

I think Raylor will get a new deal but Jonas... who knows. He didn't seem too bad tonight considering this was his first game of Premier League football in nearly a year.

There's been some talk Rooney pushed Abeid in the sequence, although I'm not quite sure. Need to watch a replay in better definition than on my laptop. But Abeid has certainly got a bigger proportion of the blame than Krul - the keeper had absolutely no time to react, although his pass was terrible. Janmaat's positioning was also poor.

It does sound though that none of our DM's can control a ball under pressure - Tiote was poor before disappearing to the ACON and related injuries, Anita is regularly terrible, and it seems Abeid has similar failings.

I can rant all night that MUFC didn't deserve to win because they didn't. But had we won it we'd probably be a bit sheepish and admit we didn't either. Woeful game of football, and that's even despite that for me the first sixty minutes only existed in text and Tweet form.

Shocking to hear the Gomis situation. Hopefully its not as serious as it looks.

I really wish Cisse would stop doing his best to get retrospective bans. Just because Evans was naughty too doesn't make it right.

The SFA has fined Mike Ashley £7,500 for breaching duel ownership rules: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31714103

That's so going to stop him.

Dave Whelan has quit at Wigan chairman and given his 23-year-old grandson control.

Surprised he didn't mention breaking his leg in the FA Cup Final in his departure interview.

I thought we'd grown up out of it but apparently not, given the amount of Jimmy Savile chants that appeared in the wake of the various revelations about him in 2012. Not saying it makes it ok, just saying its probably to be expected.

I don't know how much you can say on it without falling into contempt of court traps. So I'm not really going to say much.

On a slightly more trivial side, next month's Derby (and indeed the other games Sunderland have) are going to some interesting chants.

Title race looks effectively done. Yaya Toure looked such a liability when put in the deeper role after Lampard came on.

Goes without saying but great goals for Henderson and Coutinho.

Theoretically we are but unless we contrive to lose every single game from now until May we won't. And even then I can't see certain teams down there making up the game between us and them right now.

It does sound like the kinda of game that makes you wonder if the new TV deal is an elaborate con pulled by the league to rack up the moolah.

One of their players, Islam Feruz, tweeted the team 'takes more kick-offs than corners'. Shots fired

Needless to say, he deleted the tweet shortly afterwards

Didn't a guy on loan there earlier in the campaign put up a Snapchat of him and a teammate with sad faces going "We're going to lose again" before a game that they did lose?

To be fair, I play drums, so a film soundtrack that is basically one long drum solo with classic pieces works for me.

1-1 between Everton and Leicester.

Didn't see Everton's goal but their defending for Nugent's equaliser was appalling.

I think both Coloccini and Williamson are having problems at the moment, and if we had anyone else then both should be dropped, but we don't really have anyone else to replace them. Its a deeply worrying issue though - not even when those clowns Boumsong and Bramble made the first choice pairing were we losing games by 3+ margins on a regular basis.

Sure. Most people have argued Abeid should've played instead of Anita, and Obertan could have been useful in this one, like he was in the Capital One Cup win at their place. I know you're probably bored of NUFC fans saying Gouffran was a waste of a shirt, but yesterday, he really was a waste of a shirt. The stat when he was subbed showed he made no shots, crosses, key passes or successful tackles, which begs the question "What the fuck is he doing?". Sissoko could also use a rocket up his arse.

Selling Faye was never a good idea, but wasn't his departure because he wanted pay parity with Charles N'Zogbia or something?

Ehdunno... in any case, Williamson was a reasonable defender in the Championship and the first two seasons after our promotion, but in the last three, he's served up some terrible performers, and while I haven't watched all of our recent games, I've found his recent contributions to be unimpressive. Coloccini has also fallen off the cliff of late, which may betray the fact that both our CB's have no real competition.

At least two have to be bought int he summer, maybe three if Steven Taylor is cashed in on.

What did Williamson do?

I wasn't really watching the game but everything seemed to be someone else's fuckup...

The particularly galling moment was on goal 4, where nobody showed any desire to stop Silva shooting. But the last few weeks have showed a defender that is out of his depth.

Yet he was still more involved than everyone's other pet hate in Gouffran, who didn't do anything despite being in the number 10. And yet somehow both were better than Anita, who fucked things up.

It was a fucking terrible performance from pretty much everyone.

So no Cabella, De Jong, Aarons, Tiote, Dummett, Steven Taylor or Ryan Taylor, plus passengers like Riviere will still likely be in use.

Anyone else worried for the game tomorrow ending very badly?
