Aye some poor squad decisions in the second half of the campaign cost us a spot higher than 10th. But if we can pull off Grenier and Lacazette, we certainly would have a team looking set up for good things.

I can't understand why no one is buying Fraizer Campbell. Think he adds something to the vast majority of clubs.

Crystal Palace have apparently got a deal to sign him. Same with Sigurdsson, although this Swansea part-exchange might derail that.

Must be something about Liverpool and large transfer fees.

14m for Borini to Sunderland?

They've had their pants torn down.

Report is Remy is replacing him at Liverpool for £8M

Not a bad deal. Even if QPR are wankers for making us pay double in case we wanted to buy him.

Surely he's only worth half that?

It's been reported 2 Newcastle fans travelling to New Zealand for the tour there were on the Malaysian plane shot down in Ukraine yesterday afternoon.

Shocking news. Thoughts and prayers with their families, as they are with everyone else on board that flight.

You know what QPR are like, he'll be getting paid a fortune. Expectations on him will be low as they're probably gonna be involved in a relegation scrap regardless. Perfect move for him on a personal level, and for QPR? well I hate them and 'Arry so I'm not at all fussed.

£100,000 a week I think is the figure quoted.

QPR really haven't learned from their spending big on old duffers policy in 2012/13 have they?

Considering the US government ratified sanctions on Russia only yesterday, what is the next step?

I really hope this doesn't lead to war, although I can imagine morons like John McCain already booking talk show slots to advertise the starting up of the war machine. But unless Russia either disowns the rebels or tells them to stop, this is not going to end well.

I'm probably not the only one to notice this but whoever at Blackpool let 27 players go in the summer, leaving with them with 8 first teamers (including 1 midfielder and 0 goalkeeper) is a fucking idiot. No wonder the fans want money-hider Oyston to piss off.

I look forward to Emmanuel Riviere weighing in with 7 goals a season. I still think we lack a top striker.

Still more than Shola and de Jong.

But yes, we do need one more and I think the club are still looking for one more.

Its always been established we want and need two strikers to replace the departed Remy and Shola. One down is progress towards that so now one to go. We'll see what is the right fit.

I don't want Benteke at the moment because he's going to be injured until October/November, and that puts a lot of pressure on Riverie, Perez, Armstrong and Campbell to carry us until his return. It's a shame as he would be a very useful option, although I'm more amused less by the Newcastle fan reaction and more of those of Aston Villa fans screaming blue murder.

I know we lost but I don't know how much can really be read into it - it was predominantly kids, plus one may recall we got walloped by Leyton Orient in the run up to the season we got promoted from the Championship.

I don't think Obertan can ever be made into a quality player, but the underuse of HBA and Marveaux towards the end of last year was stupid. Maybe things will have been repaired by the summer break... one hopes so anyway.

I know little about Riviere but might have potential. We need one first choice at the least along with him and the soon-to-be-confirmed Janmaat signing.

Weird how Manchester United aren't getting any criticism for having an unethical sponsor.

Tbf, nearly all kit-makers employ sweatshop labourers and have been accused of environmental pollution, the league as a whole is sponsored by a bank that gets accused of some new moral shittery every week, most the league's sponsors have ethical problems and at least one club has been directly accused by the government of paying employees less than minimum wage. Ethics sailed away from football a long long time ago.

That's what I was talking about last night. Them, the mirror, and the other shite papers reported it last night to click bait. I'd be surprised if any United news got broken by them.

All rumours are clickbait balls to an extent. If you get a photo of him having a medical, going to sign a deal or actually wearing the shirt and speaking of his delight at joining, then you know for sure he's signed. But the amount of stuff at this time of year that is absolute bullshit is at toxic levels.
Had the potential to be a decent player too.

Stupid prick.

Aye. It would have been even more irritating if he'd scored more than 3 competitive goals at Newcastle, tbf.

Mail reporting the Vidal deal is off as Louis van Gaal wants other targets. Bold, and possibly bad, move if true.

Twitter buzz seems to indicate Nile Ranger is a target of Leeds. Fucking hell, how is he still getting chances?

I'm not really keen on the whole monetising newspaper access point, although I can probably understand why Ashley looked at it and thought, "Let's do that". But making that hateful comic the chosen partner is a step too far.

There's also some close ties going on there - as Simon Bird Tweeted recently, one of last week's Sun papers (can't remember which day) contained an op-ed from its City Editor on "Why we should love Mike Ashley". Interesting turnaround really considering that in 2009, Ashley said he felt a Sun article about him partying in a New York club led to threats against him and his family, as reported here: http://www.pressgazette.co.uk/node/42731

Sky reporting Janmaat is on Tyneside for a medical. So we should see that one confirmed soon.

Remy is an annoying one - QPR apparently have it as £8million for Champions League teams and £15million for everyone else. Robbing bastards.

I thought Cabaye was played in the number 10 role when we went on the run in November-January that encouraged PSG to buy him.

In theory, Sissoko could be trained to play a sort of intermediate role to get the ball forward from defence, with Cabella taking his slot on wide right and de Jong behind a striker. But maybe something else is planned, ehdunno...

Aye - James and Muller were more worth winners than Messi, who has gone missing since the Round of 16 game.

I think Argentina could've won it if only Higuain and Palacio had been accurate, and Aguero wasn't more interested in kicking the shit out of Schweinstiger. But I suppose Germany have been better throughout and got the desired rewards.

We still need a replacement for Cabaye tbf - our central midfielders (Sissoko, Colback, Tiote, Anita) haven't really got any.

Baffles me the statistic about Sissoko and the amount of chances he creates.

I think de Jong is intended as the Cabaye replacement. Though considering Sissoko did well with chances from wide, maybe he could be developed into a more central role. The Sissoko stat is weirdly impressve, and he also got six assists, which is a pretty decent haul - particularly considering that he posted some poor displays in the last third of the season. Though tbf he was hardly alone in that.
