Well bugger me a team improved by the presence of Fellaini. I thought it was fictional like unicorns.

I bet everyone with Sky changed to Game of Thrones. Hell, I bet some even changed it to that stupid spin-off thing before it to alleviate the boredom.

The claim from nufcfans was Lasogga was going to join today but his club delayed making a decision.

Doubt he joins.

NUFCfans reporting a signing tomorrow.

I hate how I am willing to believe, despite it being 99.99997% bullshit

Its the hope that kills us really. I haven't heard of any inkling either, as if the board has stopped interest already or is trying to keep in the shadows.

I changed over (alas) and missed the meltdown.

Richard Keys being a similarly clueless fuckwit on Twitter will have to suffice.

West Brom have appointed Alan Irvine as their new manager, with Sherwood reportedly rejecting the role after WBA wouldn't give him the transfer budget he wanted.

1. ... who saw that coming?
2. Is it too early to say they're going down?

There was some fairly encouraging streaks in England's performance, but the failure to break down the Italy defence just cost them. Italy didn't offer much going forward but they did defend very well and had the clinical strikes down to a tee.

Barring the assist, Rooney did shit all, while both full-backs were useless. But I daresay all three will still be deployed against Uruguay, which could be interesting given its a "loser is out" tie.

I guess its up now.

Giving Colombia are missing Guarin, Falcao and more, I get the feeling this could be a 0-0.

Clearly I know nothing.

You forget this is Newcastle - we imagine we get the players but our commitment to fiscal responsibility is to strong to do such silly thing.

So I hear.

Meanwhile Montpellier's chairman has been slagging us off again. I get the feeling if we do buy eventually he is going to look like an arse... but if he has a good World Cup he'll probably go to the PSG subs bench.

Albino elephants.

Knock the Qatar bid all you want but they have three components which will arguably ensure the greatest WC of all time;
1. Close proximity between stadiums
2. Actual infrastructure being built (yes I know what this comes at the cost of)
3. Stadiums being partly dismantled and sent off to Africa

And for people that knock nations like Brazil and South Africa for building big needless stadiums, our 2018 bid had a 46k stadium to be built in Plymouth. Genius.

To be fair, FIFA told the Brazilians they only needed 8 stadiums, with a maximum of 10. Brazil built 12, and 4 of those in cities that, by the sounds of things, don't actually have plans for when they're done.

I doubt a successful bid would actually have made use of a 46,000 stadium in Plymouth, or a 44,000 stadium for Bristol City. The clubs couldn't afford that.

If it had won it probably would just have been the 2 London venues (Wembley and Emirates or Olympic), Old Trafford, St. James' Park, Villa Park, Anfield (or a new LFC stadium) and maybe Sunderland, Leeds, a redeveloped Hillsborough and possibly Coventry, even with the Ricoh kerfuffle ongoing.

But whatever. We didn't win anyway because FIFA decided Russia's bid was more valuable for their cash reserves was the one they wanted.

I wouldn't say I would blame him if he got uneasy given nobody has moved from Wearside to Tyneside directly in 22 years and next season he'll probably get the kind of welcome they usually reserve for Steven Taylor. But I doubt its completely true.

My main worry is that there either isn't any decent forwards available or Newcastle can't find any at the minute. Got a feeling they're willing to pay Gomis big wages, because they can't find anyone else.

Aye the reported Gomis wage would make him either joint-highest earner with Coloccini or outright highest. I don't know if he'll be good enough for that kind of money, in a way that Remy (fat chance) would've been.

Jamaica aren't exactly the greatest oppo - England beat them 6-0 before the 2006 World Cup and were still shit in the actual tournament.

I've heard Debuchy's broken his leg so he'll be out as well. Not that Twitter is helping - some are saying dead leg, or broken foot bone, or a retirement-inducing injury. Make up your fucking mind.

But either way, fucking hell the French are dropping like flies. Though on the plus side maybe that might deter buyers and he'll stay at Newcastle.

Now for the other 4/5 we need.
