"Pardew charged by FA for violent conduct"... well, who didn't see that coming?

Meanwhile... http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/mar/04/vincent-tan-cardiff-city-illegal-bonus

I really don't imagine this leading to a points deduction but if it actually happens, Cardiff are fucked.

And there's a big difference between a proper headbutt and what Pardew actually did. - But that's not my point, if you're demanding that Pardew be sacked for crossing the threshold between management and footballer, then Meyler should also be sacked for doing the exact same.

Still think the JFK - Phil Brown scrap was miles better.

I didn't actually see that at the time, even if I heard something went down. What happened then?

Having been away during our game, I clearly missed shit going down. Now that I have actually seen it, a ban & fine should be the minimum but grounds for sacking? Not really.

In contrast to Pardew who has said much less considering the similar amount of shit that's going on up there.

Granted Pardew's in probably the only top club that'll persist with him, but it's still interesting to see Mackay do the complete opposite.

Pardew seems to want to say more than he does but is basically employed as a PR mouthpiece to justify the ridiculous antics of Mr. SportsDirect. So he can't.

I still think if Tan was that pissed off about Mackay, he should've either fired him sooner or not been drawn into a protracted war of words. He probably would've escaped being labelled the villain, or at least to the fairly hardcore levels its reached, and been the target of less fan animosity. It doesn't really help that their displays have gone from bad to dreadful under Solskjaer.

The most odd thing is that "piss me off again and I leave" comment - it sounds like an invitation for Cardiff fans to do something along those lines.

Its an odd position because he has done stuff that other clubs in the Championship would want - the likes of Bolton, Leeds, Middlesbrough and others would like a billionaire owner that could clear their debt and put cash towards promotion bids, and some of the stuff does make sense. But he does seem capable of extraordinarily stupid decisions.

Do the predictions we enter for the games postponed due to this weekend's Capital One Cup Final carry over or will we re-enter them when they're actually played?

Somehow rumours have emerged that West Brom are considering sacking Pepe Mel already, after six games of an 18 month contract.

I'd be amazed if it happened but after such a stupid season for managerial sackings I wouldn't think of it as that far-fetched a scenario really.

Fergie definitely made a poor United squad look better than it was, but then he was the kind of manager who could command respect due to his history and prestige. Moyes just doesn't have that, and has certainly not helped by making some amazingly poor tactical choices.

Pardew claims the club have a large transfer budget for next season. And to be fair, you'd like to think so given its essentially 3 windows worth of spending in one.
Don't worry, Shola will tell you soon enough how you're a complete prick for worrying

It looks like we were dumb enough not to include a future fee option so we reportedly got quoted £16M. It may have been a better idea to have bought him in on a permanent deal in the summer, though I suppose its easy to say it now with the benefit of hindsight.

We really need someone who can take corners in the summer. Santon's deliveries were religiously poor and while Dummett's corner taking was better than I thought, we still need someone with accuracy. Though then again, the fact we went 2 whole years without a Premier League goal from a corner until Norwich turned up last November means nothings changed in that regard.

And aye, that's what happens when you have 0 creativity in midfield and resort to 4-5-1 at home to an extremely average Villa side.

Quite.

Gotta wonder what the people who book games for Sky think, given Liverpool and Swansea are having a goalfest and that game's UK audience is exclusively on the illegal streams.

There's a rumour going round 10 players could leave at the end of the season.

I didn't realise we had any fat left to trim. Such a waste of such a talented squad.

Fulham have now confirmed Meulensteen, Wilkins, Curbishley and two other coaches have all been dismissed from their positions at Craven Cottage.

In the case of the first three, it seriously begs the question over how much of a point there was to their appointments.

I don't think Richard Desmond (owner of the Daily Express) understands how newspapers work.

One more for the press ban group:
The Club feels it necessary to respond to the article published in the Sunday Express newspaper, headlined 'Pardew's One Game From Sack - Beat Villa or it's the Bullet', and claimed as an 'exclusive' by the paper. The article was written by John Richardson.

We consider it extremely poor practice for a newspaper to print such an article without first seeking comment or clarification from the Club. The article was completely untrue and we can only assume published for commercial reasons or as an attempt to unsettle and disrupt.

The article also created subsequent ill-informed and damaging coverage in other media outlets and across social media.

To publish an article of such nature gives the profession of journalism a bad name. Journalists and newspapers which print such wholly inaccurate stories should be aware that there will be consequences for their actions.

Newcastle United will not accept false, misleading, mischievous or inflammatory reporting such as this and will take appropriate action as and when necessary. To this end, Newcastle United can confirm that the Sunday Express is banned with immediate effect. This ban does not extend to the paper's sister publications, including the Daily Star, who made contact with the Club to check the validity of the story and accordingly did not publish it.

For some inexplicable reason Twitter has restarted the old rumour Vince McMahon from WWE wants to buy the club.

Amazingly, the site that posted the rumour has now crashed. Though at the very least its given them the publicity they wanted.

Surely the rule is that should be a sending off.

Minimal contact on the first penalty although I'm not sure. Second was heroically unsubtle by Oxlade-Chamberlain so shoulda been given regardless, while how Gerrard avoided a red deserves questioning.

I'd like to see someone come in with a bit of tactical nous and see what they could do with our players.

Kills me to see players like Ben Arfa look so clueless.

I believe the fan-coined expression is "Pardewed", which stems back to when he preferred Hayden Mullins and Marlon Harewood to Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez at West Ham. Fuck knows what's going on given we still don't know what Sissoko's best position is, or where Cisse's form went, or why Davide Santon has gone from shutting out Ronaldo to being a weak link opponents routinely target. And all that before HBA of course.

Certainly, even without a certain departed Mr. Cabaye, we have the backbones of a team that could legitimately challenge if it had a smidgeon more tactical awareness.

Just to make Fulham a bit more complex, its claimed Meulensteen is still on their payroll and may just be demoted to assistant manager, with Wilkins and/or Curbishley getting the boot.

Unholy mess. If they lost at WBA they're doomed.
