Speaking of shit black managers, Chris Kiwomya and Notts County lost 1-5 at Leyton Orient tonight, which leaves them rock botton of L1. If he's still manager come Saturday I'd be heavily surprised

They're playing as shit as their kits then.

Bloody hell.

He looked in pain after two similar aerial duels left him on the deck but I didn't know it was to such an extent.

The only way it can get worse is if someone goes in the Millwall home area during a game and punches the manager in the face. Which is probably not out of the question.

Looks like it.

From what I gather, West Ham were terrible yesterday - something they seem to have been since the first day of the season. Obviously no out-and-out striker given Carroll's in the knacker's yard doesn't help.

Also - I hate Alan Hansen and his constant criticism of Ben Arfa.

Why on earth would his game improve by tracking back? He's a forward/attacking midfielder - not a box to box midfielder.

It's harder to expect wingers to track back, and to be fair, Ben Arfa did track back a bit more than usual yesterday, particularly towards the end.

Number 1 - You weren't in Lichfield today before the game were you? there were hundreds of your lot there stopped for a few drinks before heading on to Aston.

I heard there was a fair few Toon fans round there but I wound up going straight to the ground.

Back from Villa Park.

We looked pretty good today. Smooth passing, looked more dangerous throughout, and contained a remarkably poor Villa side. Ben Arfa was in particular very good, while Remy also looked good. Cisse need's a bit more shooting practice but the signs are there I guess.

It's a long way from the opening day mauling. Some good stuff.

I'm more amazed by how poor Villa were. By and large their sole move was Guzan hoofing it to Benteke, who would either lose out to Yanga-Mbiwa or see his knockdown picked off by Santon or Coloccini. Lowton and Westwood were really poor, and Guzan seemed particularly irritated how often it would be passed back to him.
Yeah. I feel sorry for Haidara for being knackered while McManaman continues to make horrendous challenges. At least Shawcross had the decency to apologise.

Is he still making them?

I remember seeing him sent off for a similarly terrible challenge during Wigan's recent defeat by Bournemouth that nearly led to a fight between the benches.

Didn't Vaz Te go out on loan as well?

He handed in a transfer request but has not left. Just as well really given the latest development.

I remember reading Spurs have, in real times, only received something like £15M for Bale so far given RM are paying in installments.

It probably helps Portugal that NI have had two players sent off.
Switzerland have turned it around. 2-1 now.

Not quite sure where 4-4 came from.

Given we were towards the top of long balls table last season, that's why we got the stigma of that delightful accolade. Most people had a downer because of games where everything went to pot - the home derby, Liverpool at SJP, the final 20 minutes at Arsenal, home defeat by Reading... could go on.

Some progress has been made but we play less long ball with Shola out of the team.

The £17M spent is arguably the Carroll cash, given the club had a very low net spend in 2011-12 until Papiss Cisse was signed. Obviously agent fees, wages and maybe a little towards the academy accounted for some of it but its arguable what we spent in January was leftover cash from that windfall.

The conundrum was presented on a Mag article - we've gone from an owner who spends what he doesn't have to an owner who refuses to spend what he has. Neither option is going to end well, its just that the eventual end misery is going to be different

Sammy Ameobi at least has shown some potential. Jonas and Shola, on the other hand, are in the twilight years and regularly off the pace. Sadly, Pardew does not seem to believe this.

It's more that he's played in all of their PL games this season I think, and is now being left out, suggests absolutely abysmal planning. Garvan has also played quite a lot as well.

All three - Garvan, Dobbie and Wilbraham - have played in two games apiece and have featured in the squad for all three.

Either they have that much confidence in Barry Bannan or they've fucked something up.

Tbf, with Aubameyang, once Dortmund came along there was only one place he was gonna go.

What's more annoying is that we couldn't get an alternative despite Pardew repeatedly saying "We need signings". He repeatedly said we needed another striker on top of Remy, and although he's a good player we still needed another striker.

Now we don't it's another season lumped with Shola, who has scored less than 80 goals in over 370 appearances.

Also, its arguable that we needed replacements for Simpson and Perch, and possibly a long-term one for Jonas although I daresay we may have to wait until he actually leaves for that. None of those arriving means our squad is not stronger.

Palace have announced their 25 man squad - and have left out two summer signings, Florian Marange and Stephen Dobbie. Owen Garvan and Aaron Wilbraham have also been left out.

Given he was scored one League Cup consolation since joining, is Wilbraham being left out that much of a surprise?

Dobbie left out is a bit more surprising.

I know there were loud feelings things were going awry in summer 2011 but I don't recall the mood being apocalyptical. I suppose it helps that by this point we'd won the Derby, which helps improve the mood of things, and JFK had not emerged saying all sorts of bollocks in an official capacity.

The fact he said "Judge me by my signings" and said we'd sign three, and then promptly sign one on loan, is an invitation to judge him in a negative way. So that's what a lot of fans are doing.

It also does not help the feeling that Pardew spent the whole summer going "We need signings" and then backtracked with what could be interpreted as a whitewash over the lack of transfer activity.

Pardew speaks:
We are delighted to have brought Loic Remy to the club in this window and we believe he will form an exciting and effective partnership with Papiss Cisse.

Joe has worked hard on numerous targets, particularly an additional offensive player. However some of the options that were available within our financial means were not as good as the players we already had and there is no point bringing in new players unless they can improve us and take us forward.

We did the majority of our business in the January window, signing five excellent first team players.

With the strong squad we have we should all approach the season in a positive, optimistic frame of mind.

A few months back Pardew said:

"We still need to make sure we get two or three recruits in there which take us forward. If we can do that, they’ll grow as well, and we’ll be much, much better next year.

"You hear managers taking about needing three players to make the perfect side – Arsene would probably say the same – but we genuinely, genuinely need a couple in that first team that complement the others."

Guessing this plan was pre-JFK.

If Remy had ignored QPR's advances in January and come to St. James' Park instead, would we have signed anybody in this window?

If BAE goes to QPR who do Spurs have at LB cover apart from Rose?

Vertonghen - a risky move given he's their main CB. Beyond that youngster Zeki Fryers and either reserves, youths or dropping back midfielders.

What has Kinnear done wrong?

Tbf to Kinnear, if Ashley gives him a budget of £2M - Loic Remy's loan fee and the only fee spent - then there's not a lot he can do with it.

But its just annoying we're being habitually outspent by Norwich, WBA, Hull, Southampton, Fulham (not that they were that good on Saturday) and the rest when we're supposedly one of the world's 20 richest clubs and arguably still need 2-4 players.

But whatever.
EDIT: Also, Kinnear did say "Judge me on my signings", which is basically handing fans a stick to beat him with.

Bit weird WBA are allowing Odemwingie, Long and Lukaku to leave in same window. I don't think Anelka, Vydra or Rosenburg are good enough replacements. And I can't see Anichebe being ood enough either. Would predict them to struggle this season

Rosenberg was already at the club and they're also signing Sessegnon.

They've been shedding names up top though - much as Odemwingie and Fortune (who also left) were more on the periphery, no goals and only four shots on target in their first 3 indicates they could use more options rather than offloading Long, who is arguably now their best forward.
