Will it have the radical critique of post-industrial capitalism and consider the implications of identity theory like the original, or go the way of all subsequent versions of Robocop and just focus on the fight scenes and the silly sci-fi universe they can create? Stupid question to even ask, I know, given the recent Hollywood trend.

It's being directed by the guy who did the Tropa de Elite films, so I wouldn't write it off before I've seen it.

I don't really see why it should examine the same issues as the original though, if anything a remake is an opportunity to look at a scenario from a different perspective. Given the previous work of the director I'd imagine that a critical look at the interaction between the police and criminals and the role that crime and violence plays in society would be the natural starting point.

Their plan is to come down and demand the removal of the tricolour from the Dáil because their flag was so cruelly taken from them, even though the flag only flies above the Dáil when it's in session. They just want a riot

I hope the Irish Army kick them all right back to Ulster.

The fact that the main source they use is a crazed Colombian and another is just some people they met in a restaurant. A quick google search reveals very little info on this supposed mind control drug too.

It's Vice as well, their website is full of sensationalist bullshit.

It's your typical Vice documentary, they travel somewhere to cover some unusual subject, walk around and speak to some people.

It's just entertainment, it's not meant to be heavy scientific research.

Why is Xabi Alonso in the TOTY when Pirlo is ahead of him?

Because they are not decided by the same vote.

I thought Dredd was a really solid action sci-fi. Definitely enjoyed those 90 minutes.

I just love how FIGC are basically giving FIFA and UEFA a big FU over the whole racism thing.

The FIGC president has gone out and said that they will support the suspension or cancellation of any game featuring racist incidents.

Aye, adding Astori and Bocchetti to the back three would push them much closer towards contending. Certainly better than trying to bring in some Argentinian who's never played in Europe before, which seems like their usual strategy for improving the defence.

Cavani is a god. I genuinely hope with all my heart that he stays at Napoli, I really want to see him and Hamsik lead them to a Scudetto at some point. Just need for De Laurentiis to get his head out of his arse and finally bring in some top quality centre backs for them to really be able to contend.

Serie A comes across as a really unpredictable league these days.

Juve wins the title, everything else is entirely unpredictable.

The NHL will hopefully be back on the ice by the 20th.

Mark Antony might be the biggest badass on television ever.

He really is.

Re-watched Rome over my winter break, it really is absolutely fantastic. Shame they only made two seasons.

They both have the potential to be quality players when the game starts, hard to answer for 3 years in though, as we can't see their development, injury history etc.

The pass was of the highest quality but the touch, to control it and take it way from the defender was world class, signing of the season is gonna be between RVP and Michu

I think the fact that Michu cost one tenth of RVP kind of ends the discussion.

Just went to the bathroom and noticed I had (what looked like) mucus coming out of my tear duct.

It's a shame wraith isn't around any more, could have used his advice on this.

Used to sign him a lot in past FM's, found him VERY injury prone though.

That's entirely realistic though, the man is probably the most injury prone player in recent football history.

Impressive balance considering he's only got one arm.

Why does a man with only one arm even have an Xbox anyway? The controller is hardly disabled-friendly.

Wasn't the figure almost double what Corinthians had paid?

Aye, think the rumours said it was something like €35-38M.

Isn't Robinho going back to Brazil too? I read somewhere Santos have pulled out?

Milan want to get rid of him, but they are struggling to find someone willing to take his wages. Santos have apparently bought Walter Montillo, so they're out of the discussion.

Pato has finally signed for Corinthians. €15M, four year deal.

I hope he does well, he could have been an incredible striker had it not been for the injuries.

He's still young enough to carve out a really nice career for himself. If he stays fit in Brazil I doubt it'll take longer than 18 months before he's back in Europe again.

Milan really do look like absolute cunts for not selling him to PSG when they could have though.

Is there anybody sane in Italian politics?

I'd wager there'd have to be one or two sane people involved in at least one of the four bazillion parties they have.
