Finished my first season.

Won the League, Cup, League Cup and Europa League, beat Sporting once, Belenenses twice and Porto four times.

I believe that adds up to 113 points.

Decided to do the Benfica challenge just for fun.

First window transfers:

Never use transfer budgets in the first window otherwise, so I decided that I may as well go crazy with it. Wasn't really a fan of Pereira or Garay anyway and Luisao is slow as fuck. Besides, as I am only in it for the challenge it doesn't really matter if the clubs finances get fucked over the long term.

And by the way, letting the game decide the potential abilities by itself isn't a good idea.

Rolling a dice to decide whether someone gets a -7, -8 or -9 would be a better way of doing it. Or just give everyone the same fixed PA and see how they develop based on the attributes they picked.

Dortmund have not plateaued

They can't offer the kind of wages they'd need to compete with Bayern over the long term. Their squad is still really young and plenty of their players have the potential to get a lot better, but most of them won't spend the prime of their career at Dortmund. Eventually most of them will follow in the footsteps of Götze and Lewandowski and go to clubs that can double, triple or even quadruple their wages.

They will ultimately face the same fate that Bayer Leverkusen, Werder Bremen and all the other German clubs that have briefly challenged Bayern's supremacy over the last 20 years have, even if their time in the sun will have lasted a lot longer than those who came before.

I can see some sense in it. For Sagna it's simple, he gets a pay-rise, a three-year deal and a good chance to win some silverware. For City we need a reliable back-up right-back but also need to strengthen several other positions, so whilst his wages will probably be larger than most of the alternatives, the fact we wouldn't be paying a transfer fee could come in useful for when we're trying to sign a defensive midfielder, a centre back or Luke Shaw. Lastly, his age arguably works in our favour, we have a number of talented young right-backs and signing a younger player would make it harder for them to get their chance in a few years time. Sagna would be a good signing for a few years before leaving at the time we'd be expecting one of these young players to be making the step-up to the first-team squad.

It also works as a Machiavellian move, weakening Arsenal is in City's best interest, even if Sagna would add very little to them.

There's loads of managers that could be possible in the summer. Van Gaal, Simone, Klopp, Low.

And that's only looking at the top, top managers. There's probably about 50 managers (and that's very generous) who could do better than Moyes.

Löw isn't really that great a coach. I'd expect him to go back to coaching clubs in Turkey if he ever returns to coaching clubs, not getting jobs at big clubs in the top leagues.

I watched Insomnia yesterday, ironically while I was struggling to fall asleep myself.

It was okay, far from the worst film Al Pacino's ever been in but definitely Christopher Nolan's weakest effort. Still some beautiful scenery, good cinematography and a predictable but not terrible story. Overall enough good bits to make it a half decent thriller, nothing more, nothing less.
