I will be absolutely gutted if you end up with Sagna, especially as you'll only be using him as back-up. I could live with him going to Monaco or PSG but it would really hurt if he leaves to join City.

I remember like 6-7 years ago when you had all the youngsters like Fabregas, Sagna, Clichy coming through. Everyone was on about how in 5 years theyll be leading Arsenal to titles and what not. Now they are all pretty much gone

I remember Arsenal's kids smashing Sheffield United 6-0 in a cup competition around the same time and everybody saying the same thing. Carlos Vela and that crew it was.

tbf if arsenal didn't sell people their squad would be easily title condenders:

Scezesenezenseny in goal,

Sagna, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Clichy

Song

Fabregas, Wilshere

Ozil Nasri

RVP

Then you've got people like Aaron Ramsey, Walcott, the ox as backup.

Arsenal are awesome./could have been awesome.

Aye, I saw that earlier, it doesn't really make sense, he'll be in the same boring league, still in the Champions League but playing in front of 8k who don't really care rather than a packed stadium in Paris.

Seems they think offering him more money will do the trick. Apparently they only think they have a serious chance if PSG win the CL this year.

Tbf, I'd rather live on the Côte d'Azur than in Paris.

Barcelona transfer ban: Fifa issues 14-month sanction

Spanish champions Barcelona have been given a 14-month transfer ban by Fifa for breaking rules on signing international players under 18.
The Catalan club cannot buy or sell players until the summer of 2015 after the world governing body imposed a transfer ban for the next two windows.
They have also been fined 450,000 Swiss Francs (£305,000).
Fifa has also sanctioned the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for the same breaches.
The RFEF has been given a fine of 500,000 Swiss Francs (£340,000) and told to "regularise [its] regulatory framework and existing system concerning the international transfer of minors in football" within a year.

Where is that from?

They should also be copping some sort of transfer punishment for their dodgy Neymar deal too.

What happens to ter Stegen then?

Because I'd imagine Atletico do need to replace Courtois.

Transfer bans always end up being lifted or effectively circumvented anyway.

Don't expect this to hurt Barca at all.

Aye I'm pretty sure the one Chelsea got for Kakuta was repealed almost as soon as the appeal was lodged.

Completely different situation. Chelsea just had to agree compensation with Lens cos they breached his contract or something.

FIFA have said it is "irrevocable". Which probably means it'll be brought down to 1 window next Winter

Barca statement:

Clarification to the sanction imposed by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation and FC Barcelona for offenses related to the transfer and registration of players under 18 Club will present the appeal to FIFA and if the review will be submitted for arbitration of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)

Following the sanction imposed by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee to FC Barcelona (FCB) for offenses involving the transfer and registration of players under 18, FCB want to point out that:

According to the official statement released by FIFA, the Royal Spanish Football Federation has also been sanctioned by international transfer of minors.

The alleged infringement standard is intended to protect minors in the actions of sports clubs that incorporate children's rights without ensuring training and attention that the FCB itself develops the model of La Masia.

The model incorporates the Masia educational training programs, accommodation, meals, medical care, attention to the needs of children and sports development plans. The FCB way people before sportsmen issue has not been considered by FIFA, which applies a penalty criterion ignoring the educational function of our training program.

All players have always had FCB by and update their federal licenses as required by the respective federations. All of them at all times.

Some of the players affected by the filing of FIFA have even been summoned by the Catalan Football Federation to participate in the regional championships with the Catalan team.

Since the file was opened by FIFA, the federation licenses were withdrawn players and they have not returned to participate in official matches. Thus, in no case are any non-regulatory athletic participation with any of them.

The FC Barcelona has not breached any civil law and all children enjoy their training center are legal residents in the country.

Players who order FIFA have been nullified their federal licenses have had the option of continuing in the Club, which keeps them committed to ensuring their education, in order to not suffer social harm, though not to play.

No player of FCB is in an irregular situation.

The FCB has raised to FIFA for some time and in different areas, the need to revise the regulations intended to protect minors, to make this more effective protection.

The training model FCB has always received the express recognition of FIFA, La Masia has always been used as an example of good practice.

Our candidates for the Ballon d'Or is an example of the recognition of FIFA in our sports training procedures.

The FCB training model helps families of many players to integration and social growth.

Only in Catalonia, is estimated at 15,000 the number of players under age federatively registry, which would be irregular to have been born outside Spain, according to the criteria of FIFA in its disciplinary proceedings.
Therefore, the FCB will present the appeal to FIFA and if the resolution submitted to arbitration arising Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Appropriate precautionary measures to preserve the rights of the Club, among which are included the addition of players during the transfer periods were also requested.

They'll appeal.

If they appeal to Fifa they have 3 days. If that is successful they'll sign him.

If that is unsuccesful they will appeal to CAS who will hear the case, now, probably after the World Cup.

Until that appeal is heard then they will be able to sign players, so as long as they do business then they'll be able to buy during that stay of execution.
