Worrying that that's the best we've played all season by a mile and we can't even beat a shite Leeds side.

Isaac Hayden genuinely looked good last night. Mitrovic was good as well, he's a much better option than Gayle imo.

But Jesus our defence is an absolute joke. Mental how overrated Lascelles is/was.

I see Notts County taken the same number of points since Shola signed for them than before he signed for them. He's been there since February....

He misses the ball by less than a foot. Time between the header and contact is less than 1/10th of a second. No raised arm. Contact between Turner's head and Whitehead's back, with Whitehead looking to avoid that contact after he'd realised he wasn't getting there. Not reckless. Not a booking by any stretch. It's a slightly late challenge made to look worse than it was by awful play-acting and seven Burton players reacting to get at Whitehead. Seen the incident a good 15 times now, including slowing it down to see if there's a raised arm or any intent, and I've seen nothing. It's a 50/50 with a player a split second late, as will happen 15 times a game. We got shafted by a play-acting racist and a referee too clueless to realise.

That's mostly irrelevant - it's obvious the Burton player is favourite for the ball and Whitehead has jumped into him anyway. - He looks like he's caught him with his shoulder and looks like he has tried to generate power in doing so. - And Turner reacts as if he's just been smashed in the face by a quite heavy man.

Whitehead hasn't used an elbow - probably because he thinks he'll get away with it if he keeps his arm down.

Anyway I see referees have been misapplying the rules again - I'm not sure how what Keith Stroud did was against Huddersfield - but I'm sure it was.

A good read on the Scweinsteiger to Newcastle story.

Still can't get my head around what they we're trying to do. Seriously Llambias and Wise flogging a key player to sign punts for almost the same amount of money. Thank God for JFK - might actually one of the most important figures in modern Newcastle....

Bloody Ritchie going down after someone stood on his ankle.

Especially with Kachunga's totally natural fall in the same game......

You cant turn a shite team into a class one in 8 months. We're doing well atm people just love to whinge

Hughton did a hell of a lot better with £50m less.......

And Clement, Silva, Allardyce, Advocaat, Di Canio, Poyet, Pardew, Shakespeare have all seemed to make at least some sort of impact a lot quicker....

btw Anita and Dummett were pathetic on saturday - both more at fault than Shelvey.

Nah Shelvey is absolute poison. Absolute waste of time. It's not about playing badly, it's about basically not trying.

Yesterday felt like Benitez in a nutshell.

It was a year since he took over (and lost) - The announcer played 'La Bamba' before kick off, while some cunt with a microphone instructed us to 'Make some noise for Rafa' - And the Chronicle / Newcastle seem to be making 'Until Rafa I was never happy' - a club slogan.

But y'know - predictable, negative tactics - an attacking trio offering zero threat going, forward, Colback picking up 4 men, ropey defending and punting long balls for a short striker to challenge for.

While the Chronicle and some fans do amazing mental gymnastics to absolve Benitez of any blame what so ever. Chronicle are praising Benitez for identifying that Tom Cairney was a good player. - If only we signed Cairney, Hogan, Snodgrass, Brady and McCarthy to prevent the possibility of a player we've ever been linked with having a good game against us.

Also Newcastle now seem to have organised fan groups set up to slate other fans. And blame fans for defeats. - I agree that the atmosphere is shite and has been for years - but back under Pardew - it was 'long suffering fans who had simply had enough of being 8th and had the patience of Saints for protesting finishing 8th in the league.' Under Benitez there traitors to the Rafaloution who shouldn't be allowed back.

Anyway we were murdered today - If we finish 3rd and Fulham take 6th - I genuinely believe Benitez would set them up in the exact same way with the exact same result in the playoffs.

Just rewatched the highlights - Shelvey culpable for all three goals - by literally letting his man go and not closing down. The absolute waste of space. Makes Moussa Sissoko look like Bert Trautmann.

Shelvey really needs to fuck off. I've never seen a player so visibly not try.

In the second half, Newcastle players actually stopped passing to him. Noticed they all seemed to be blanking him after the match as well.

TM has completed his independent inquiry into the situation, and has found that all refereeing decisions that benefited Huddersfield were indeed correct. Where as all refereeing decisions that adversely affected Huddersfield were not correct.

Leicester players suddenly playing well after they got Ranieri sacked, funny that.

That being said this is a great result for us.

It's not exactly a rare occurrence.

Also if Man Utd pay £80m (or whatever) for Kane - he'll be absolutely box office regardless of if he's won anything or played well for England.

He'll be the new Gazza or Rooney and be the absolute talisman for England and the Premier League.

Don't know imagine a lot will do with endorsements and such that will be inaccessible if they don't play in the CL or for a big club.

Like I imagine Alexis Sanchez probably has a much larger profile than if he for example went to PSG straight from Udinese, rather than playing for Barcelona or Arsenal. (Although I maybe ignorant about PSG's reach these days)

A quick glance on Twitter shows Sanchez is on 1.95m followers compared to Pastrore 1m and Verrati 200k followers - and likewise the Arsenal twitter has 9m followers compared to PSG's 4m. I'd imagine this is important to footballers and agents when sorting out where footballers want to play football.

Yeah but competing in the Champion's League would get in the way of their ultimate goal of qualifying for the Champion's League.

In fairness the likes of Ozil and Sanchez will only come if they can get CL football....

So y'know, if Simeone/Benitez/Tuchel lands lets say Rakitic and Morata next year rather than their Europa League equivalents. And snarky people talk about how new guy has taken Arsenal to the next level, (but also relying on Wenger delivering a fairly consistent level of success)

I'm not happy with the results, lose tomorrow and we'll be right back in the mire. Our wage budget is probably bigger than Reading, Leeds and Huddersfield combined.

The performances have usually been dreadful, the tactics awful, and the players seem to be getting worse. He squandered £55m in the Summer - and seems to mismanage the playing staff awfully.(Leaving Sels in has probably done him a lot of harm), (Hate to be that guy but maybe if you didn't buy Hanley, Sels, Lazaar, Gamez and Murphy - you could have afforded someone in January)

And strange decisions, Ameobi is back in the team now? Why did he loan him out? Has he brought him back in an attempt to prove a point about how little he has been backed? Or did he want to get rid of a player he hadn't actually see play, because he wants his own signings?

I'm more concerned about what happens at the end of the season if we don't back him properly.

Alarmed with Benitez' post match comments about how he 'doesn't know' why we didnt sign anybody and that he's dissapointed.

Be the biggest mistake of all Ashley's huge monumental mistakes if he lets Benitez slip through his fingers

Or Benitez is making excuses to cover his own bad decisions?

Feel like in the summer Villa will sign Chris Martin for £8m, Rhodes to Derby for £9m and McCormack to Forrest for £6m. None of the clubs will be improved any.

Huddersfield, Brighton and Leeds the three outstanding Championship teams seem to have avoided this trap.

Looks increasingly like Townsend is coming back. Which is good.

F365 always bang on about about how nearly promoted sides - always focus on attack too much - and don't look to spend big money on defenders - When clean sheets tend to be the best way to stay up.

Championship sides seem to be really bad at this; Spend £7-12m on a forward and results never seem to pick up too much;

Like Villa and Derby seem addicted to buying striker for around £8m. Villa could soon have Ayew, Hogan, McCormack and Kodija

Love Big Daz - really enjoyed his performance - as a focal point I think those around him really benefit from him. Perez was actually good today - I think he might just have no idea what to do when he's with Gayle. Hayden was much improved - didn't try and overplay. Shelvey was very good in the second half after a poor first half.

Just wish we would play with more attacking intent from the start - Yedlin was superb for the third, but doesn't really attack like that at 0-0.

Wonder if people will praise Rafa for his tactics today after the injuries seen as he's been receiving an absolute hammering from people that apparently know a lot more?

Were his tactics not exactly the same as they've always been? - 4-4-1-1? Obviously didn't see the game. I'm absolutely ecstatic we actually put in a cross with a big lad who headed it in. Very little of that this season.

Disgusting that a manager's tactics have been questioned imo. I've literally never seen criticism of a manager ever before, think this is the first time ever.
