I only watched the last half hour, but Fellaini and Cleverley looked like nothing in the midfield.

They've been pretty dire so far this season, yeah, but I'd say Big Sam's impressive record on the whole over the last 12 years, rather than the last 12 games, should mean his job is under no immediate threat.

Injuries to focal players for you is the issue not Allardyce. You will be perfectly fine

I think the failings were in the transfer window rather than specifically in the games played. And as far as I know Allardyce has control over transfers. Going into the season with one striker that Allardyce rates is absolutely awful. And it can't really be considered too unlucky, that an extremely injury prone player has gotten injured.

An experienced manager should have sorted it. Sign two cheaper strikers or at least have a viable plan B.

Alan Oliver was banned from Newcastle ages ago too, wasn't he?

He always used to write shite in the Chronicle.

Aye, 2009. The last time Kinnear was here.

Things will probably be looking miserable again soon when we fail to put in performances against teams we should be beating.

Big test for Pardew. Newcastle have really struggled against the lesser teams who want to defend. Which Norwich and WBA will probably do.

Anyway I bought the new True Faith fanzine as it's meant to focus on Newcastle's finances. Some of the finance bits are ok, but the problem I have with it is there a couple of legit grievances, such as the website store being run by Ashley and the lying about the sponsorship being used to 'showcase' for unused space.

But most of the fanzine is a Daily Mail style of printing bollocks, to get people pissed off. Lowest common denominator stuff. Everything good under the Ashley regime is attributed to luck and everything bad is attributed to 'just deserts'. A load of bollocks made up. And loads of references to previous relegations.

No fucking wonder the club can't be arsed to communicate with the fans, when they tell the truth, the fans deliberately misinterpret the truth.

Yeah, thought England were pretty good. Lallana, Townsend and Cleverley all had some good touches.

Wasn't expecting Max Kruse to play upfront. Very strange from Low. Germany have sometimes been playing with a false 9, and they have Gotze, Reus, Ozil, Muller, Kroos, Draxler, Gundogan, Schurrle, Sam and Podolski to pick from for the front 4, seems weird playing a quite average guy upfront.

Genuinely didn't know that. Hard to find anything on the internet about it. Even so it doesn't actually inconvenience the fans in any meaningful way.

How come none of these AMF people don't hate Arsenal? They're a 'franchise', have a corporate branded stadium, and have recently changed badges.

I'm just incredibly bored of the anti-commercialism that football media seems to have gotten obsessed with. The media go on at length about how commercialism is negatively affecting 'real fans', while generally listing a bunch of grievances that don't affect fans in the slightest.

- Cutting the words 'Football Club' off the badge
- A sponsor is donating a statue
- A sponsor did the halftime draw
- Players wear green and orange boots
- Man Utd have a 'laundry partner in South East Asia'
- Man Utd give out gifts worth £1000 to sponsors who invest millions

It's just a complete load of bollocks. There was nothing or very little about things that actually matter to fans, like making the ticket prices cheaper, or criticising Manchester United's cup ticket scheme .

While there is quite a bit of xenophobia within that article (and most articles about 'foreign ownership' ).

Derby County have renamed their stadium.

Always love the 'outrage' caused by commercial decisions. By fans who now feel less detached to 'their' clubs after these decisions, whilst simultaneous demanding the owners put more money into the club to reach the riches of the Barclays Premier League....

16 long years of history traded for 30 pieces of silver...

Just stuck £50 on Fulham doing the double.....

Guessing he'll be in charge by Christmas.

Hmmm, not so sure. It doesn't make a lot of sense from Fulham's POV to appoint a manger when they've already got one. Why not just sack Jol and have done with it? rather than delaying the inevitable and slipping further towards relegation.

Hahaha, I'm waiting for a picture of how dreamy Giroud looks from the game.

He looked pretty dreamy, while allowing van Persie to get in front of him for the goals

Not celebrating would have looked totally disingenuous anyway. Arsenal fans give him loads of abuse.

Does anyone know what Soldado is? Like what's his style of play?

Spurs look similar to Newcastle last year. Inferior teams respect them, so play to frustrate. And Spurs don't look good enough to break teams down.

Also Newcastle have 10 points from 12 whilst playing with Shola and playing 4-4-fucking-two.

Apparently the 'selected games' are 1 game PER YEAR from every single British (/english?) team in the competition.

So 4 lots of FC Cluj vs Manchester United reserves and the like + the final.

Seems pretty unlikely, I'm guessing they still need to grab as much as advertising revenue as possible. And will more than likely be trying to persuade non-subscribers to subscribe so will try and put on a hyped up game.

And Jake Humphrey vaguely said they'll put on every British team at least once FTA. So at least 5 or 6 games, isn't quite the dramatic comedown from 15 currently shown FTA. Apparently UEFA and the EU have some sort of agreement on a minimum number of FTA game in the Champions League anyway.

I don't get why people seem to think Champions League should be FTA anyway.

I never realized what a whiny little bitch Lewandowski was.

You love Giroud

I thought Dortmund's attitude was really poor tonight though. Lewandowski was the worst, but at the end the Dortmund players and Klopp are screaming at the officials. Really poor.

Klopp still doesn't seem to be able to balance Bundesliga and Champions League.

Decent chance of Dortmund, Napoli and Arsenal all on 12 points as well.

I know, I just liked it better when promoted teams were really rubbish, rather than buying their way into mid-table.

tbf Vorm did sort of kick someone in the chest, arguably a violent conduct ban would be more appropriate.

Just saw the 'On this Day feature' from 2006 when Sheffield United beat Newcastle 1-0 in 2006.

I miss the days when promoted teams would get promoted and make these kind of signings, (and have a chance of staying up). Rather than spend £8m on England International defenders.

Mikele Leigertwood - England Crystal Palace, £600,000 (compensation), May 2006
David Sommeil - England Manchester City, free transfer, 24 May 2006
Claude Davis - England Preston North End, £3,000,000, 14 June 2006[11]
Christian Nadé - France Troyes, 27 June 2006
Li Tie - England Everton, free transfer, July 2006 [12]
Rob Hulse - England Leeds United, £2,200,000 rising to £3,000,000, 24 July 2006[13]
Ian Bennett - England Leeds United, undisclosed, 27 July 2006[14]
Colin Kazim-Richards - England Brighton & Hove Albion, £150,000, 31 August 2006
Paul Gerrard - England Nottingham Forest, free transfer, 27 September 2006
Matthew Kilgallon - England Leeds United, £1,750,000 rising to £2,000,000, 8 January 2007[15]
Jon Stead - Sunderland, £750,000 rising to £1,250,000, 11 January 2007[16]
Mamadou Seck - France Le Havre, free, 15 January 2007
Luton Shelton - Sweden Helsingborg, £2,000,000, 15 January 2007[17]
Ahmed Fathy - Egypt Ismaily SC, £700,000, 24 January 2007

Palace have had a good go mind.

Yeah that has been a twitter/ man down the pub rumour for ages.

Until it was sensationally reported by former Evening Chronicle chief sports writer Alan Oliver, just days after the Chronicle was banned from Newcastle. Alan Oliver is currently banned from Newcastle following an article he wrote about Joe Kinnear. It's very impressive that 'Mr. Newcastle' has sources within the Birmingham management.

I can't really picture Joe Kinnear at a Birmingham v Swansea, Carling Cup third round tie, without even a specific target in mind. KIU Joe.

Yeah, you were by far the best team for 90 minutes.

He's not great.

Do you's rate Navas? I've thought he's looked pretty poor from what I've seen of him.

If Remy played instead of Cisse we'd have won about 2/3-0

tbf to Cisse, Remy hasn't done anything when he's been upfront by himself. Cisse looked a lot better tonight with Ameobi beside him. The striker always seems to be totally isolated when Newcastle play 4-2-3-1/4-3-3.

I meant Newcastle have the prerogative to not speak to whatever media they want. - If Newcastle had committed crimes, obviously it is in the public interest for the media to expose it.

Newspapers can obviously report on whatever news stories they see fit to. And Newcastle have a right not to speak to newspapers they feel are trying to cash in by creating a crisis to generate sales.

The football press is beyond parody when they're denied access. The Mirror are calling Newcastle 'bullies' for not answering questions from journalist they don't want questions from. And talking about how Newcastle are damaging 'free press'.

They are also pillars of local democracy who hold politicians, judges and, yes, football clubs to account. They are indispensable allies of fans ripped off by ticket prices, fobbed off by useless signings or, say, wrestling with their consciences over sponsorship deals with payday sharks.

I mean fucking hell, can you not tell the difference between an elected public official, a public justice official and a privately owned company owned by a private citizen? As a privately owned company they can answer whatever questions they want. Newcastle haven't broken an laws.

Anyway it's good that the fair and balanced press definitely don't have a vested interest in the story. It's good that the Daily Mirror aren't saying "shame on you Newcastle for not answering questions from newspapers in the Trinity Mirror Group. Shame on you."

But I reckon Pardew has to go that was awful. We're not playing to our strengths or exploiting other team's weaknesses.
