I think Ashley on balance is one of the better owners of a club. He has made loads of mistakes. Most were prior to relegation. I have some criticisms of the club, mainly using SJP as a billboard and seemingly having his own company running the NUFC online site, (and no details of if NUFC are actually generating revenue or just Ashley) These are just extremely minor criticisms, compared to the 20 years or so of Sir John Hall and the Fat Controller. And Sir John Hall is a hero for some reason.

Kinnear is basically in my opinion a scapegoat, blamed by many for everything that goes wrong. I think Ashley just gave his mate a job. But yeah, ticket prices are apparently one of the best, the club were the first to do reciprocal prices for away fans, and the team is possibly at its strongest point ever. Go wave a bedsheet.

I just don't get why print media gets things for free which TV and radio have to pay for. I mean, I genuinely don't understand why, they get something for free to then sell.

Won it about 5 times hasn't he?

He won the LMA (proper) award once. But he claimed to win 3 times, counting his Mirror and SkySports manage of the year awards. The media mocked him for it, but he clearly think it's an honour to beat Wenger/Ferguson and whoever else was around at the time...

Anyway Newcastle are trying to get newspapers to pay for some media facilities. I have absolutely no idea why print media gets anything for free at football grounds anyway.

It's OK, accidents happen, its not like they call themselves the 'intelligent tabloid' and post articles on how silly other people are when they make mistakes.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/joe-kinnear-radio-interview-line-by-line-1960189 (At least two mistakes in that article as well)

In other news, Joe Kinnear officially pointless

Must have been a repeat. I think EVERYONE knows he won manager of the year by now.

Watching Palace v Cardiff.

Palace leading and the better team. Chamahk, Bannan and Jerome all looking very good.

EDIT - Chamahk just scored a class goal. Palace look very good and organised.

Thank the Lord that Debuchy got injured. I don't know what Pardew was planning to put Cisse on for. He just kept sending on strikers

I saw an article in the summer using stats that basically said Spurs and Manchester United were in potentially big trouble over the season as they both massively overachieved. http://www.forbes.com/sites/zachslaton/2013/09/30/manchester-united-or-tottenham-hotspur-who-is-more-likely-to-be-the-newcastle-united-of-201314/ I don't really understand all of it tbh. But is basically is saying that Manchester United massively overachieved last year, and were always going to struggle this year unless something changed. Also from a neutral perspective, I wouldn't say Moyes is doing any worse than Mourinho or Pellegrini considering he has a much, much bigger challenge.

“The stuff Manchester United were doing offensively under Alex Ferguson was analytically unique across the entirety of Europe. The vast majority of teams rely on shooting the ball as much as possible while trying to make the opponent shoot as little as possible…. United, on the other hand, [were] analytically inexplicable. I’ve walked through almost every predictive model I can find, and the closest anyone [could] get them is fourth. That’s Alex Ferguson. Fergie was one of the most innovative, adaptive, and genius tacticians football has ever seen…

Kagawa has made 10 starts and hasn't scored a goal or got an assist. Maybe Moyes has his reasons.

Krul needs to fucking sort himself out as well, he seems to be totally unable to cut the mistakes out of his game.

Great article here explaining why improving the training centre is a bad thing. And how Ashley and Kinnear are being evil.

Now lets hope Newcastle can 'paper over some cracks' and beat Swansea tonight,

Why is Steve Cotterill so hated? he seems to have a pretty decent track record.

Stange how about four years ago, Coyle was seen as an excellent manager who played football the 'right way' and now is seen as being kick and rush.

Coyle? I didn't even realise he was under pressure. Seem harsh, they're not too far off the play-offs and over the worst of the Europa backlog.

According to users he did better than all West Brom players other than Myhill, Olsson, McAuley and Brunt.

Bit strange I thought West Brom were really good and pehaps the better side. Impressive more as a unit than individuals though. No idea Zoltan Gera is STILL there.

It is a major annoyance of being quite good, you begin to really regret the bad results, if only Newcastle beat Hull, Sunderland and West Ham, and got the draw against Everton. Top.

Crazier to think that after the Sunderland game, most people would have loved to see Pardew sacked, and a month later he will (almost certainly be manager of the month. No doubt Arsenal fans will feel much the same about the Villa and WBA games.

More importantly though Newcastle have opened a big lead over Swansea, WBA and Aston Villa. Arguably in a mini-league with Everton and Southampton at the moment. In the upper mid-table battle.

I'm loving this mini-revival Shola's been enjoying recently.

16/18 points taken from when Shola has been available.

Newcastle would be second now if they had beaten Sunderland.

I doubt this run would have happened, if Newcastle beat Sunderland.

They are.

I think this is probably just really an inexperienced team, with an inexperienced coach, getting beat of a really experienced team. Like Dortmund's results two seasons ago.
