I think you'd be looking at about £10m more than those prices tbh.

Yeah, he'd give us some steel in midfield which isn't the worst thing in the world (and certainly seeing the end of Jones as a midfielder is a blessing) but I have serious concerns about his passing in that role and his best performances for Everton have been in the hole, something Moyes won't forget.

I'd rather we had a more serious look at Wanyama (Ok you lose the height of Fellaini, but he's not much shorter) for cheaper and then explored some more explosive, pricey options for the front 3.

He's not worth more than £20m really, so if they want more they can keep him.

Definitely don't want to see Jones in the midfield. Might be a big year next for Cleverley, can see him getting the nod early on from Moyes to partner Carrick given the energy he brings to the midfield, kind of like Leon Osman. Really wish Anderson would get fucking fit and by fit I mean actually lose about a stone or two by the looks of him.

It's just going to happen, we have to accept that fact.

(In seriousness though, I don't actually particularly want him, would be worried if we did sign him he'd play in the hole and Kagawa would go out to the left and Moyes would use his Everton tactic of hoofing the ball to him and think there's better players available for what Everton would want)

I'd take him if the price was right, say between £15-£20mil.

I actually think he could shield the defence quite well and allow Carrick more freedom to get forward. I wouldn't want Kagawa pushed out wide, not at all. He's shown already how dangerous he is playing just in behind the striker and he'll probably be even better next season after his first year in England.

I hope the club doesn't take any u-turn from Rooney this time around. Get rid of him and use the money to bring in either Falcao or Ronaldo if possible. He thinks he's far more important than he actually is and as Flash said it'll give Hernandez and Welbeck more chances.

I actually couldn't care if Rooney leaves, on his day he's a very good player, but he's been very inconsistent.

It's not as if he fucking died or anything

True, but it's still massive news.

I've never known another Manchester United manager just like most on here, that's strange in modern football and it's shocking how quickly it all happened.

By the sounds of that they've already got it all sorted out which is kind of comforting I guess.

I wouldn't rule out Pellegrini either, didn't we want him as assistant with a view to eventually taking over when he was at Villareal?

Heard there was talk he was going to go to City.

The fact that Everton beat us is a stupid point. Shall we approach Chris Hughton too? Rafa maybe?

This is the Manchester United job. Not a Man City team new to Europe, or a Chelsea team with little to no expectations in Europe that season.

So that Man City team were new to Europe but had a very experienced manager, shouldn't have had problems.

That Chelsea team had all the expectations in Europe that season, they were heading out and that's why AVB got sacked.

Well what's your point really? Moyes will fail because he hasn't managed to win trophies, get Everton into the Champions League? Any manager who takes over this role is going to be under a great deal of pressure.

The only managers I can think of that are good enough and I'd say available Mourinho, Moyes, Heynckes and maybe Kloop.

Birmingham too.

Middlesbrough won the league cup as well iirc, not sure if it's inside the last decade though.

It's stupid to suggest Moyes would fail at United just because he hasn't won anything at Everton. Theres no doubt it'd be a step up and he'd be under a lot of pressure but so would Mourinho, Kloop or any other manager replacing arguably the greatest manager in the history of football.

What does it matter why he has no experience?

What evidence do you have to suggest he'll play attacking football?

Roberto Mancini has European experience and has handled world class players but couldn't get out his group two years running. What about Di Matteo last season? No real European experience in management and had been sacked by West Brom, won the Champions League. Experience is helpful, but it's not the only thing that matters. Everton played a huge part in us failing to win the league last season and beat us on the opening day this season.

As for what evidence do I have he'll play attacking football?
Well outside the top 5 and Liverpool they've scored the most goals, sounds kind of attacking to me.

It seems you've made your mind up that he'd fail at United which isn't fair at all.

He's not my first choice, I'd prefer Kloop if we're looking at a long term successor.

It has to be Mourinho for me. He's the only man with the ego to step into the role, and even then I'm not sure he can.

At the very least you'll get 3 years then the next man in doesn't have to replace Fergie but 'only' Mourinho.

It's tricky. Do we go with a few year fix or appoint long term and hope that works?

It's going to be interesting to see what happens. I agree with the last bit you said, replacing Mourinho and not Ferguson, could be an important bit the board take into account.

By bluemoon. | Permalink | On 08 May 2013 - 18:58 PM
Hahaha.

That's the best comment I've seen so far

Heynckes would be a brilliant appointment for you.

If we're going for a short term fix I'd rather him over Mourinho, look what he's done at Munich and by all accounts the players absolutely fucking love him.

He has very little experience in Europe. He has no experience with world class players.

All this talk about Ronaldo returning. Can you see him even answering the phone if Moyes rang him? Quality players will certainly be put off by the drop from SAF to Moyes.

I don't think he's won a trophy at Everton has he?

By tmatthew | Permalink | On 08 May 2013 - 18:49 PM
What makes you think Moyes would play exciting football?

He has little experience in Europe and with world class players due to Everton being broke.

As for trophies that's again hardly his fault. I think Swansea and Portsmouth are the only other teams to win in the last decade outside of United, City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal, the latter going broke because of that spending.

I think he'll play attacking football and have a go, certainly more than what Mourinho will do.

He wouldn't demand respect that's the problem.

People will be calling for his head by November.

Anyway, I knew Ferguson hated midfielders but I'm amazed that he would rather retire than sign one this summer.

He'll get respect from the players and the fans, I'm not worried about that. He's not a shit manager, he's proven that. A part of me doesn't want Mourinho because it's about him, not the club, we'll probably play negative football and he'll fuck off in 3-5 years. I'd take Kloop ahead of the both of them after what he's done at Dortmund or maybe even Heynckes, although he'd only be a short term fix.

Aye was thinking about how excited they must have been getting, and are now shitting themselves.

Ideally it'd be him or Klopp, but I'm really scared it could be Moyes.

Why are you scared of Moyes taking over?

He's done unbelievably well at Everton and would demand respect at United.

I'd rather Kloop over them all. I can't see Mourinho staying long term tbh.

He barely touches him.

I'm not defending Rafael, if you kick out like that you deserve the punishment, but it's fucking terrible seeing top professionals doing shit like that. Laying on the ground laughing and acting. Aguero obviously didn't kick him hard enough.

Fuck right off.

Regardless of David Luiz's reaction, Rafael got sent off because he blatantly fouled him. He was nowhere near the ball and he got backlift ffs.

I guarantee you had Luiz stayed on his feet and not feigned injury like he had Rafael would have been only booked.

Rafael was gonna be sent off anyway, deservedly so. Luiz had just been booked after being justifiably frustrated at another terrible decision by the officials and been jeered by the fans. Then he managed to get a reaction from Rafael right in front of the linesman. Add to that the fact that Chelsea were about to win a massive game and you can see why he was smiling.

He was smiling because he knows he's going to get a player sent off due to his acting.

That's why he's an absolute dick and that behaviour is no different to diving, you're conning the referee.
