#357136 Life On Campus (The Prelude)

@Cymro, as do I, have a soft spot for Llandudno since FM14.

Managing: Cardiff Met Uni FC

After a turbulent career of 18 trophies in 6 different countries in FM16; the man behind the glasses, David Nealon, has decided to educate himself (quite literally) by taking time out before his next adventure to sign a short term deal with Welsh Premier League debutants, Cardiff Metropolitan University. Formerly once known as UWIC Inter Cardiff, the club were condemned to non league football after their relegation from the League of Wales in 2001. After that, they've struggled to make ground and were down as low as the Welsh Football League Division Three (fourth tier) in 2010. Luckily, their luck turned in 2012 when the club formed as Cardiff Metropolitan University F.C. and their rise began, with three promotions in four years to get them into the Welsh Premier once more.
David Nealon applied and got the job following a positive interview.
The squad inherited needs....a lot of improvement...
All amateurs.
This is only a short term save, just to break the game in. Hopefully we don't get tonked too often.

The cream of the crop among Irish managers.
Players to shine during the season were undoubtably Suslov, Aleksandravicius and Zakharov to name but a few. The fans seemed to have taken a liking to Suslov since his arrival, getting the approval of Fans' Player of the Season ahead of Aleksandravicius and Kurbangalijevas.
Zakharov finished as our top goalscorer just ahead of Mantas Stankevicius. Aleksandravicius grabbed 14 incredible assists. January ins, Róbson and Rybin also provided a hand in our success.

Ending the season on a high. Four back to back wins after the run of four without a win.
Winning the league by ten points in the end where Suduva seemed to have just burnt out towards the end, likewise with Trakai.

Turned on in style after going behind early on, pressure off our backs certainly helps.

ZAKHAROOOOOOOV! He's missed almost half the season, not scored in 6 games but what a time to bag a hattrick. Credit also goes to Stumbras who came from 2-0 behind to hold Suduva to a 2-2 draw in the 89th minute, meaning the Lithuanian title is ours!

I'll be the first to admit: it was an undeserved victory, but Róbson was our knight in shining armour. Guess you could say Nikola Stankovic had a 'stanker' at the back.

Spurned the perfect chance to put the league to bed. Rybin struck a sensational free kick to put us ahead, but Suduva bombarded us and eventually cracked our resistance.

Panic stations, we are in a tailspin situation now.
What was originally a nine point lead, now reduced to five. But what shocked me most was the relegation to Zalgiris!
Five games remaining, we enter into the Champions Playoff.

400 and still going strong.
But a truly awful collapse as Suslov turned from hero to villain, scoring and then conceding a penalty to where Suduva were always on the ascendancy. Second half was tragic and it seriously affects our advantage at the top.

Had an important league match later in the week in mind so fielded a largely rotated side. Nevertheless, it was an embarrassment in the cup as we went down to second tier Bangas.

Took our chances on the day, an important brace from Jurgelevicius.
It has been mainly down to this man why we've been performing so well, racking up the assists.

Mantas Stankevicius gets us back to winning ways, but my word we're looking dire lately.

Thought we would get by here with a narrow victory, but Simovic decides to hit us hard, point blank into the bollocks in injury time.
Zakharov, the man made of paper skin. Yet another injury.

A huge three points, our first win over Trakai that could be a season defying result.

Foiled by our rivals, good to see Zakharov back in the goals though.

We were obliterated here despite only conceding one. Not a sniff of goal. Notice also how Borislav Valev changed his hair from the first leg.
Zlatan in charge of Sweden too.

Don't think we'll have many problems in Azerbaijan. Solid start for newcomers Rybin, Popa plus a debut goal for Róbson.
