Reading that we're getting money to improve 2 positions in the squad.

2?

We need 6 first team players.

They should be met by a member of the board at the club with the head coach there too. It's the professional way to do it.

Can't wait until next year when players are released via Skype at an Internet cafe so we don't have to pay for phone calls.

Can't see us ever finishing higher than 9th/10th while Ashley and Charnley are here.

The sad thing is Gutierrez wasn't good enough to be retained - but he was probably our best winger.

People like Obertan, Ameobi etc have no business playing in the Premier League

I'm not particularly advocating for McClaren, I was asking because I'm not convinced Vieira is ready to manage a Premier League team yet. He's done alright at City but while the EDS have been pretty good, they've made a habit of letting leads slip and he seems incapable of properly organising a defence.

I'd prefer Laudrup or Garde tbh.

But Vieira is more exciting than McClaren - who was awful at Forest, average at Derby, awful at Wolfsburg, awful at Twente when he went back and awful at England.

McDermott isn't a bad manager - done well with Reading and wasn't awful with Leeds despite horrendous circumstances.

A league 2 club would be lucky to have him, imo.

Aye. He's failed at his last 5 jobs.

Why do one of the richest clubs on the continent put up with absolute dregs?

I can't imagine the uproar if they gave it to Carver. Why are they even interviewing him?

Face to face is the only acceptable way of doing that, regardless of where they are in the world.

£1000 is fuck all to Mike Ashley.

Or they possibly could have been told when the decision was made - which was most likely before they left for their holidays.

It's just a cunt move - every little thing they do wrongly. Ridiculously inept.

You guys obviously don't play football enough if you think that goal didn't require almost unhumanlike levels of skill.

It was absolutely sublime.

Good to see so many familiar faces still around and some popping out of the shadows.

I'm still regular, not many of the old guard around nowadays.

It's looking increasingly likely that it will be Vieira, he's odds on with all bookmakers now.

Pardew is very much an old-school type of manager, likes fast wingers who aren't overly technical, a big guy and a small guy and two box to box midfielders.

Whereas Carr is more modern and was signing people like Cabella and Marveaux who won't fit in a 4-4-2 in any position.

A McClaren appointment would be completely underwhelming and lacks ambition.

Like Bolton finishing 3 points off a CL place?

To be honest it's impossible for teams like that to come as high nowadays anyway in the current PL, he's mainly tasked with keeping teams steady and competitive in the league on more often that not a limited budget. Which he guarantees every time.

It wouldn't be a long sustained period of success though, it'd be a flash in the pan - he's been completely mediocre since then.

Big 'Limited Budget' Sam - he's had fortunes to spend at West Ham, Newcastle and Bolton are one of the most indebted clubs in England.

The Chronicle is outstanding. They're actually blaming Pardew for the second half of the season. And praising Carver for keeping us up. And suggesting that Carr has a 100% success rate.

"A year ago an agent who worked with Newcastle told me that United’s scouting team wanted technical, attacking players who could deliver excitement on-the-pitch" - Yet Pardew insisted on shite players. Carr apparently wanted Hazard, and Pards insisted on Karl Henry.

They blame Ashley/Pardew for everything. Whilst praising Carr, Carver and Charnley regardless of terrible they do their job.

I'm baffled by the Chronicle's support of Carver and Charnley. Both completely clueless.

Carr I understand a bit more as he's been good in the past - I think he's under pressure for the 'perfect deal' now - whereas if we were allowed to spend a bit more he'd have continued his run of good signings (possibly). I think he's made more good signings than bad ones though - players like Marveaux and Mbiwa are good players they just needed a manager who would believe in them and play them in the correct positions for a sustained period of good form.

If we got Aubameyang/Lacazette/Grenier in etc.

Nah, I'd rather not watch horrendous football.

And he signed dud's like Alan Smith, Geremi, Cacapa and Viduka - all contributed hugely in the wrong way in the season we got relegated.

Bournemouth look like they're making signings that'll make them a bit more exciting than the regular cannon fodder for the top sides that usually get promoted.

I don't think it's shocking goalkeeping - he has to be aware of his far post as Messi is a master at that curling finish, but that bullet into his near post is near unstoppable imo

Need to get rid of Williamson, Gouffran and Riviere now and start a proper rebuild.

GK - Krul, Elliot, Darlow - we're okay there.

DR - Janmaat - backup needed

DC - Coloccini, Taylor, Williamson, Lascelles, Dummett? (Satka, Streete, Good) - more quality here definitely needed. 1 starting centre back.

DL - Haidara, Dummett - hmm a tricky one, if Haidara can stay fit and show the form he did before he got injured we'll be okay.

DMC - Tiote? might be leaving - needs replaced with a top quality DM if so, Colback - we're okay here

MC - Sissoko, Anita, Colback, Abeid, De Jong? - one more quality CM and we'd be okay.

AMR/L - Gouffran, Ameobi, Obertan, Aarons - none of them premier league quality barring maybe Aarons but he's unfit a lot and we've hardly seen him. 2 quality wingers needed.

AMC - Cabella, De Jong, Perez - should be alright there.

ST - Cisse, Riviere, Perez, Armstrong - Cisse might leave, if so needs replaced. Riviere not good enough and Armstrong needs loaned out. 1 quality striker needed, 1 young one for backup as Riviere should be sold.

Hardly any of the above will happen.

Ameobi and Jonas are shite, tbf.

If I was keeping one it'd be Jonas but they're both not Premier League quality. Jonas tries his heart out and Ameobi just wanders around then falls over. He would struggle in the Championship. Means we're not going to sign a winger as well, which we desperately need.

If West Ham get De Boer and we get McClaren, Ashley's pre-game comments were clearly just a measure in PR.

Security on the arrival side is normally extremely minimal. The main checks are when you board the plane.

That should be alright if you don't have luggage, yeah.

Depends of course how far the train station is away from the airport

I'd definitely take Laudrup, don't know much about Garde and as said earlier I think we should explore other options than McClaren now.

They're the 3 names in contention apparently - I'm over the moon it's not Carver.
