Campbell would have made an impact by now if he was going to be a top player, I think. Be game to be proven wrong though.

MYM played with the young'uns and reserves though didn't he? While Steven fucking Taylor got a game in the first half? I'm unsure how the game went btw as I was out so correct me if I'm wrong.

Ellis Short is a billionaire though, whether he's sick of spending money on complete dross like Adam Johnson and Jozy Altidore is yet to be seen.

N'Diaye dominated Cabaye and Tiote by himself in the derby he played, but was complete horseshit against Villa when they won 345345-0 that time.

Apparently Riviere will be unveiled tomorrow with Janmaat, and then our persuit of Lacazette will start again, according to GFN_France for the first bit (quite reliable) and Lee Ryder for the Lacazette bit (questionable).

Weird that as I always thought N'Diaye had it in him to be a decent player.

Superb news.

One more signing and I'll be happy.

Summer of recruitment is pointless if we don't replace the main amount of goals we scored last season.

If Pardew is freezing out Marveuax, Ben Arfa and Mbiwa they all need replaced too. They need to be sold - I don't want to hear "we couldn't get the last few 'over the line' because big wages were still on our wage bill because Pardew isn't using them correctly.

Hiring a competent manager would solve this, though.

When in the past 3-4 years has Messi done nothing?

Been consistently one of the greatest footballers ever to play the game.

Stupid prick.

Pfft. The Glazers have somehow managed to swindle Chevrolet and Adidas out of more money for kit sponsorship alone than they actually paid for it.

Not denying the Glazers are fantastic businessmen too.

Baffled why people don't want to see him do well?

He's hardly a cunt on the pitch and very rarely dives.

Ashley pulls off incredible business deals from time to time. He's managed to get the Sun to charge for interviews when they have never ever done that and he managed to get Wonga to pay £10m a season to call St. James's Park "St James's Park"

His game is based on him being fucking awesome at everything. He'll be just fine when he hasn't got any pace as he's one of the best passers of the ball in the world.

A "couple important goals" in World Cup matches are pretty big things, tbf.

Average

I just think many expect way too much from him.

He is the best in the world so I suppose it's expected.

4 goals and an assist in a World Cup is not "sub-par" by anyone other than a completely unreasonable person's estimation.

I'll reference the fact that Messi scored or assisted around 80% of the runners up of the tournaments goals.

Messi was phenomenal in the group stages, definitely the best performer. He lacked the same spark in the later knockout rounds but had more than an average tournament. Way more.

Nah, Mascherano did.

But still Messi was definitely in the top 5 players in the tournament.

Messi wasn't average this tournament btw - he was fucking awesome until about the quarter finals.

He was involved in something stupid like 80% of the runners up of the tournaments goals.

People expect too much.

He's just moved to Stoke in my game for 32m

Their first marquee signing after being taken over by a tycoon.

Krul

Janmaat Mbiwa Coloccini Santon

Sissoko Tiote

Cabella De Jong Gouffran

Remy

That's not bad in all fairness. Maybe Colback instead of Tiote against poorer opposition. Huge improvement on last year anyway, if Ben Arfa and Pardew could become friends again he could replace Gouffran and that lineup is looking very nice.

Nah, AMC behind the striker is where he said his best position is.

Traditional number 10.

I thought we wouldn't sign Cabella due to the signing of De Jong.

Newcastle won't be able to replace Cabaye - he's too good to be replaced.

Reckon Pardew will plan to star the season with a 4-4-1-1 - DeJong and Tiote CM, Gouffran and Sissoko wide, with Cabella AMC.

Grenier?

De Jong in CM is asking for trouble.

De Jong isn't a Cabaye replacement though - Cabaye dictated the defence and the attack in the midfield whereas De Jong is a number 10.

We need a box to box midfielder like Cabaye with a bit of quality.

So say we've spent 20m already?

12m on Janmaat and Riviere leaving 28m for a centre midfielder and a goalscorer?

We still need a replacement for Cabaye tbf - our central midfielders (Sissoko, Colback, Tiote, Anita) haven't really got any.

Baffles me the statistic about Sissoko and the amount of chances he creates.

His starts to goals ratio last year wasn't too bad 10 in 19 starts.

But yeah, Remy would be outstanding but I can't see it. Ashley has already sanctioned quite a bit of money for his standards.

Wonder which strikers we'll go for?

Think Emanuele Riviere is all but completed but we need a proven goalscorer to go alongside him.

Great stuff.

Two strikers and a Cabaye replacement now please and we'll be having a great time.

tbf theres still a derisory wage offer coming for Cabella

QPR will probably steal him away.

Apparently Feyenoord have rejected 6m for Janmaat and we're unwilling to go higher.
