Newcastle have been linked with Jenkinson for ages. But I don't think the deal makes sense for anyone.

Arsenal aren't going to let him go for like £2m, and Newcastle won't be willing to pay what Arsenal will want (£6m?+).

I don't think we'll sell him. He even said himself that '"he'd have to be dragged out of Arsenal". I think every Arsenal fan wants him to develop and I think Newcastle would be good for him on a season long loan. With a run of games he's a decent fullback. Quick, great engine and a decent cross on him.

Not much in it for Newcastle to loan him. He's not going to improve the team, like Remy or Gareth Barry type player. And if he signs as a second choice RB he's not in much of a better position than at Arsenal.

If he does outstanding then Newcastle won't have a chance to sign him, so a bit pointless.

And Arsenal will be well bitter, when Newcastle beat them to Riviere. Wenger will probably resign.

He'd be good enough to start for you once Debuchy goes.

I'm assuming that Janmaat or someone else is signed.

Aye we're not letting Debuchy go until we've got Janmaat - who is better than Jenkinson most likely.

Aye I've heard we want Janmaat in before we allow Debuchy to leave.

Its unlikely we're going to be getting Remy or Ba but an out-and-out goalscorer is still needed, and if we get that, Cabella and Janmaat, the squad is looking in fairly decent shape. Though at the very least it can't be any worse than the shitfest that trundled from February to May.

tbf theres still a derisory wage offer coming for Cabella

QPR will probably steal him away.

Apparently Feyenoord have rejected 6m for Janmaat and we're unwilling to go higher.

Cabella has been photographed at St. James' Park and the photo apparently took place after a medical. So it sounds like he's all but ours.

Aye, confirmed now. 5 year deal transfer fee 10m.

Great stuff.

Two strikers and a Cabaye replacement now please and we'll be having a great time.

Delighted with Cabella and Charlie Adam.

Wonder which strikers we'll go for?

Think Emanuele Riviere is all but completed but we need a proven goalscorer to go alongside him.

Riviere's goal record doesn't look too good, so I'm hoping he's being bought as a second choice, with a better striker also coming in.

His starts to goals ratio last year wasn't too bad 10 in 19 starts.

But yeah, Remy would be outstanding but I can't see it. Ashley has already sanctioned quite a bit of money for his standards.

£60m is apparently the budget - Luke Edwards is adamant its true. So maybe.

Either way, I think Newcastle actually have the intention to spend, which they haven't really had the past two windows.

We still need a replacement for Cabaye tbf - our central midfielders (Sissoko, Colback, Tiote, Anita) haven't really got any.

Baffles me the statistic about Sissoko and the amount of chances he creates.

So say we've spent 20m already?

12m on Janmaat and Riviere leaving 28m for a centre midfielder and a goalscorer?

Newcastle won't be able to replace Cabaye - he's too good to be replaced.

Reckon Pardew will plan to star the season with a 4-4-1-1 - DeJong and Tiote CM, Gouffran and Sissoko wide, with Cabella AMC.

I think de Jong is intended as the Cabaye replacement. Though considering Sissoko did well with chances from wide, maybe he could be developed into a more central role. The Sissoko stat is weirdly impressve, and he also got six assists, which is a pretty decent haul - particularly considering that he posted some poor displays in the last third of the season. Though tbf he was hardly alone in that.

De Jong isn't a Cabaye replacement though - Cabaye dictated the defence and the attack in the midfield whereas De Jong is a number 10.

We need a box to box midfielder like Cabaye with a bit of quality.

Grenier?

De Jong in CM is asking for trouble.

That £60m may take into account wages - in which case it's nearly all spent.

Although tbh, I'm not expecting another midfielder, and certainly not another top one.

Apparently not interested in Grenier any more because of the De Jong singing.

Is CM not meant to be Siem De Jong's natural position?

Nah, AMC behind the striker is where he said his best position is.

Traditional number 10.

I thought we wouldn't sign Cabella due to the signing of De Jong.

I thought Cabaye was played in the number 10 role when we went on the run in November-January that encouraged PSG to buy him.

In theory, Sissoko could be trained to play a sort of intermediate role to get the ball forward from defence, with Cabella taking his slot on wide right and de Jong behind a striker. But maybe something else is planned, ehdunno...

Krul

Janmaat Mbiwa Coloccini Santon

Sissoko Tiote

Cabella De Jong Gouffran

Remy

That's not bad in all fairness. Maybe Colback instead of Tiote against poorer opposition. Huge improvement on last year anyway, if Ben Arfa and Pardew could become friends again he could replace Gouffran and that lineup is looking very nice.

Mbiwa has been heavily linked with a move back to the France sadly. Don't think we've ever really seen him at his best in his time here.

Sky reporting Janmaat is on Tyneside for a medical. So we should see that one confirmed soon.

Remy is an annoying one - QPR apparently have it as £8million for Champions League teams and £15million for everyone else. Robbing bastards.

So The Sun are now Newcastle's "exclusive media partner" and are apparently funding their academy to "find the new Gazza".

So - Newcastle have decided the way to remove criticism is to start asking for money?

Don't see why anyone would care that Newcastle have started selling interviews, no different from football clubs selling 'exclusive access' to sponsor the kits or show the football live.

Sun aren't 'exclusive' anyway Sky and BBC Newcastle are already 'media partners'

Ashley pulls off incredible business deals from time to time. He's managed to get the Sun to charge for interviews when they have never ever done that and he managed to get Wonga to pay £10m a season to call St. James's Park "St James's Park"
