#133731 Barclays Premier League 2013/14

#133563 Pentagon [FM14]

Gambled by resting my CB pair for the cup tie against Coton Sport and going with defensive training, and I paid for it by gift-wrapping the title to Tiko United.
A positive is managing to prove the punters wrong and achieve promotion, despite ranked 7th likeliest to go up.
Speaking of the cup tie:
They bombarded our goal, but couldn't find a way through - not that we were overly clinical either though.
Could we pull off a shock?
Well no.
An attempt to replicate the 1st leg's tactics was initially successful, right up to the concession of the winner.
We found it difficult to come out of our shells after that and it was a foregone conclusion from then.
Anyway... We're now in the top division, which means a whole new league, and transfers to be made:
He was signed on loan towards the end of last season, and proved to be a decent acquisition.
A short-term solution to the potential problem area of left-back, Onana has come in as 1st choice.
Signed on a free, he has some top-tier technical attributes for a centreback.
Not that he'll relish going up against Peter Crouch any time soon though...
Finally, a properly experienced forward!
Also provides potential cover on the left flank.
A preference to sign a left midfielder without breaking the bank led to his loan.
(I know, I'm terrible at this game.)
Coming home from Bangladesh, he is my Ozil.
On a Bosman, too.
Aoudou and I go way back, in my previous Pentagon career in my failed spell at Fovu.
He comes in as the best right midfielder, but I'm not overly keen on playing him there - we'll see.
Seems like Cameroonian bookies are deluded, last year they had us on mid table, while this season they've done the same - a division higher.
Finally:
An unorthodox choice, he wasn't even the best defender.

Good riddance.

Thanks, too bad it didn't turn out too well though...
So I played a few matches:
Still unbeaten, not half bad.
However, thanks to the already great form this team has already produced before my arrival:
So with promotion sealed, time to focus on the cup:
Beating top division strugglers Unisport isn't something to be sniffed at, not to mention winning 3-0 on aggregate.
Now here's a proper challenge. *glup*

Here we go again - apply for all jobs available and picking the 1st one that comes along.
This proved to be slightly surprising though:
Now to weigh my options through a series of interviews (not really, do the 1st one and holiday through the others - it's not like I'm going to do 180 interviews with that same question template).
Anyway...
And the club?
Great news.
With regards to the playing staff:
My best players (i.e. 5-star ones) are all on the wrong side of 30, while my best forwards are 17 and 16 respectively.
And we have nothing of note on the wings at all, oh joy.
The 4 best players...
... and my best forward.
Good news is that I'm arrived when we're well into a promotion battle. Nzoyem also has 10 clean sheets, so we've got a steady pair of hands through this season.

While I can't deny his quality, neither can anyone dispute his lack of work rate either.

I'd like to see if Wenger can tame him though, I've a sneaky feeling he just might.
#130968 Mid-Term Report
Eric Portapotty
League Position: 1st
Star Man: Ramsey - Never in my wildest dreams would I have seen these from him, having come such a long way through injury and criticism.
Most Improved: Bendtner - Let's face it, low expectations, him actually scoring has already surpassed it.
Honestly though, I like how he's finally decided to work harder, years in the wilderness did do him some good.
Best Youngster: Gnabry - Fitted in well in the absence of Walcott and the Ox, here's to seeing more of him.
Most Disappointing: Cazorla - I've always maintained that he should rotate with Ozil, but he's not contributed as much as last season (albeit trying to meet such a high benchmark). We'll see more of him in the coming months, I'm sure of it.
Best Game: 4-1 Norwich, the last 20 minutes was the best I've seen of us in a long, long, time.
Best Goal: Because I still can't tell whether that Wilshere goal was intentional, I'll go for Ramsey v Liverpool.
Worst Game: 0-1 at Old Trafford - Van Persie, Ozil going missing, Giroud not doing enough, was an impotent performance.
How's the manager doing?: Lesser men would have given up after the vitriol that he has to endure, so credit has to go to Wenger for that alone.
Ozil was a masterstroke for more than just footballing reasons.
What player do you want in January? Morata on loan doesn't sound half bad.
Where will you finish? 1st, because what's a fan without his delusions?
Overall Grade: A

Ozil looks so weird in that Superman suit.
And I'm surprised Park's even invited to these things anymore, could've sworn he'd stay at home crying about his playing time.

Honestly though, he started so well, then faded badly - and when you're bad at Arsenal the fans don't treat you well.
I blame the shisha.

Not really, there are probably other nations that have much more widespread footballing corruption than Italy, but only the Italians make the headlines due to their prominence in world football.
