#69397 English Premier League 2012/2013

Hopefully we can play more conservatively now.

Unfortunate for Fulham, having a man down for the majority of the match.

I think it's part of a more deep-rooted problem in English football, that your clubs don't have enough faith in local players.
Lambert (and Grant Holt last season) are relatively talented players, and with their form it's not ridiculous to say that they should be called up to the NT.
Problem is they both are in (or approaching) their 30s, and it's unrealistic to say that Hodgson can build a longterm team with them.
Thing is, the pair have been playing lower-league football for most of their careers (Holt played in Singapore ffs) and if a higher-profile club took a chance on them they could play a bigger part in the national setup.

Hence Ferdinand's call-up then, going by your argument.

The team managed to tank it, big time; Biney and Addo were virtually pedestrians at the tail end of the season.
League
In April we were enjoying a decent lead in 2nd place (with a couple of games in hand), and we ended up a successful onslaught away from missing out of continental competition - a monumental fuck-up.
Cup
Biney managed to come up with an oh-so-rare scoring masterclass to save our semifinal encounter.
Reverted to his typical form this season in the final, and his replacement (Addo) didn't exactly cover himself in the glory of competence either.
CAF Confederation Cup
Never looked like getting anywhere near their level.
Next Season
Other than the aforementioned Kofi Appiah, we've got 2 other signings to look forward to:
Willaim Diallo has proved to be a vastly inferior alternative to Mohammed Alhassan when the latter was injured, and Eric comes in as a better benchwarmer.
He'll probably challenge for a starting spot, considering his namesake's disappointing form towards the end of the season.
Clyde Essomba was a Fovu old boy, and having signed him in my time there, he's got a fondness for me.
It helps that he's improved from the mess he was at Fovu, and hopefully he'll be a competent replacement for Eugene when the latter's contract ends at the end of this season.
Newcomers to the Premier league are Moonlight and Real Sportive, while Chelsea (GHA) bounce straight back up.

What else... Oh yeah:

Disregarding the Chinese and Malay options (not interested in learning local languages, and I'm Chinese anyway), which one would you guys recommend?

A relatively strong month with two silly defeats scuppering our chances to close the gap on leaders Hearts of Oak.
That said, a surprising number of last-gasp victories does give me hope on the mentality of the team.
Cup
Another late goal, and a third on aggregate getss us safely through to the semis.
I could well meet Hearts of Oak for a fifth time this season, not cool.
CAF Confederation Cup
A vital away goal allowed me to play on the counter in the home leg, and the more cautious approach paid off, getting one over the Ghanaian league leaders.
Africa Sport was a completely different proposition, our defence was being breached time and again with the opposition showing their superior ability.
Addo's away goal gives us hope in the home leg.
Transfers
Kofi Appiah will join the club next season, as competition/backup to Mbarga, however I have an interest in playing him upfront.
It helps that he's a consistent player.
Also, Francis "a year's holiday LOL" Diallo wants a wage rise.
This despite him being out for the rest of the year and a good part for next.

Season started off terribly, with a combination of both senior goalkeepers out and resting players for the Super Cup match not a recipe for success.
Low-profile loanee Stephen Hammond - having not played with the team at all before - deputised, and had a debut performance that nightmares are made of.
Further forward it was obvious who was carrying the team - last season's top scorer Yaw Biney has yet to open his account in the league, while Addo hsn't helped his own cause either.
Step forward Christian Mbarga, who has already scored more than last season.
We've got good form to show for at the moment, but the big guns are up next; Biney and ddo will need to find their scoring boots, and soon.
The SWAG-Nyemetei Cup
I kid you not, the SWAG (Sport Writers' Association of Ghana)-Nyetemei Cup is Chanian football's Super Cup.
Anyway, on to the game:
And the obligatory image of the celebrations:
Cup
Our cup run's gone well so far, having only met lower-league opposition so far.
Next round has us in an all-Premier League clash though.
CAF Confederation Cup
Debut fixture couldn't have gone any better, destroying the Tanzanian team.
Couldn't say the seam for the return leg, massive complacency issues made it a harder task than it should have been.
The second leg throws up a challenge in the form of domestic opponents and giants Hearts of Oak.
Transfers
First, some bad news:
Midfield mainstay Francis Diallo suffered a double(!) leg fracture and will be out for the entirety of the year, so a replacement was needed.
Luckily his injury happened before the August transfer window closed, so I could get this guy on loan.
Boakye was a longterm target, and I was surprised to see him allowed to leave his parent club.
Helps that I only need to pay him $15 a week \o/
Aided by Nankop's departure and the wages that were freed up, another 3 players arrived to bolster the squad:
Boakye was the only fit senior defensively-minded midfielder, so Lokman was signed to provide numbers in that area.
Again, only 1 specialist left winger (Sumaila), and Frimpong represents competition for the underperforming youngster.
Nankop's departure left me with only Mbarga and Mensah as the only playmakers in the team (Mensah's also regressed in the attacking aspect of his play). Tetteh (hopefully) solves that problem.
