#383329 Tonges' Journey Around the World [FM17]
tongey
Here he is, Mark Tonge. The man who is going to enter the history books in the future. Born in Northwich, the 23 year old is an avid Manchester United fan. For some unknown reason Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola already have a disliking for me but I'm sure they'll come around soon enough. Starting off with no coaching qualifications and no playing history will make this challenge all the more interesting. I'll be looking to improve my stats as I go.

Welcome to this challenge to win every trophy in the games main database. I've attempted this along with many others before and have ultimately failed but once again I'm back and ready to give it my best shot. Only loading a couple of leagues at a time should let me speed through seasons and tick off those trophies nice and quickly (hopefully)
So without further ado, here is my story...

I decided to sign the following players from this years intake. I am slightly disappointed with the intake as last years was phenomenal and I have improved the facilities and coaching but there is still some quality in here.
Kristian Jensen (DC)
Anthony Boateng (GK)
Dennis Thorup (AML)
Gideon Sekyere (DC)
Joseph Archeampong (AMR)
Casper Ellegaard (MR)
Anders Laudrup (DL)
Jannik Mortensen (DL)
Ole Edvold (ST)
Niclas Nielsen (ML)
Kingsley Alhassan (DC)
Kristien Jensen is predicted to be the best player out of the lot. I must also have a link with some club in Ghana as I always produce some wonderkid from Ghana.

So with the quit reasonable transfer budget of around £12.5m to spend on new players I set around strengthening in the key positions for my formation which included a CM and a new Striker. Welcome to the club Milos Jojic from FC Köln and Shane Long from Southampton. Both were reasonable prices for what they can help do. In the other direction off went Seb Larsson to help free up some funds and Borini, Rodwell and Gooch all went out on loans as they were deemed useless for the first team.
In the FA Cup we didn't really get going. A 3-0 loss to Reading means we get only 5 points which is very disappointing as it was a winnable tie.
So down to the main meat in this challenge sandwich, 'The Premier League'. As you can see our form dramatically improved after my taking over. We actually managed to star scoring and we scored regularly. Up there in my best wins was a 1-0 win against Manchester United to end the season. A 4-3 victory against Arsenal was a surprising result and kickstarted us on our way. We managed to get the victory needed against Middlesborough with 2-1 getting us that win. Another 5 points in the bag.
Shane Long managed to scored 15 goals in the 18 games he played for me. That's a good return in my eyes.
So with those fixtures we managed to climb from rock bottom up to 12th position. I'm half tempted to carry on this challenge, we shall see...So it's 15 points for our league finish.
Unfortunately no awards to gain some extra points but a good haul and a good half season overall.

Superliga Preliminary Phase / Preliminary Phase Fixtures 1/2 / Preliminary Phase Fixtures 2/2 / Superliga Championship Group/ Championship Group Fixtures
With the media predicting us to finish down in 7th, we managed to surpass that ridiculously well. It took a while to get the tactics right but once we did then the results started flying in. We managed to finish the 'Preliminary Phase' down in 3rd a massive 10 points off the top placed FC Københaven. The top 6 teams qualify for the 'Championship Group when they play each other twice. At the end of this, we finished one measly point off the top spot. A great achievement in my first season in charge of the mighty Tigers.
Danish Cup: We were expected to reach the quarter finals stage at least so to only get to the 4th round is quite disappointing. I'll be aiming to progress further next season and hopefully pick up my first trophy at the club. A penalties defeat is always hard to swallow, especially against the bottom club.
Squad: The squad has changed all season long with a number of players leaving half way through due to having a storming start and attracting the attention of some bigger clubs which I guess is the whole point of this save. To keep churning out the talent. Zackarius Faour and Tobias Mikkleson both chipped in with 11 goals a piece and Mohammed Fellah lead the assist charts with 11. Stanislav Lobotka and Pascal Gregor were the pick of the bunch though with average ratings of 7.40 and 7.52 respectively. I'll be looking at replacing a few of the squad with some of the youth next season.
Finances: A good season as we made a profit of £3,884,977 with most of this coming from transfers which totalled £4.4m. We have invested in the junior coaching which has improved and the youth facilities are being upgraded as well. I hope to keep this up every season.
My aims for next season: With a good performance in the Superliga this season, we'll be looking to go one better and win the title and knock FC Københaven off their perch.
The Danish Cup will be a place where the youth can look to impress me. I'll be rotating them in all season and hope they can improve to make that first team squad quickly. I'll be in the Europa League as well so all eyes turn to Europe where I hope we can progress a few rounds to bring in some cash to improve the facilities some more.

The first youth candidates of my career have been on trial. I'm really impressed with who we've managed to get and the future looks bright with these youngsters.
Whole youth candidates squad
I decieded to sign the following 12 players who showed the most promise!
Simon Svendsen (DC)
Jakob Bredal Skov (DC)
Erik Sørensen Bundgaard (STC)
Henrik Thorup (AMR)
Ahmet Kamburoglu (DM)
Benjamin Issah (CB)
Malik Boateng (GK)
Kim Christiensen (DR)
Daniel Jakobsen (MR)
Jorgen Svendsen (CM)

Of these candidates, Erik Sorensen Bundegaard is touted to be the best of the lot. I can't wait to see what happens with them.

So the board had a bit of a mad moment on transfer deadline day. They decided that 3 offers on players that were in my first team plans were too good to turn down. The following players have left the club. Onwards and upwards, and more room for some youth players to impress now.
Mads Pedersen (LB) (has been at the club since he was was a boy) (joined Sampdoria for £1.3m rising to £2.4m)
Christian Kohler (CM) (has been at the club since he was a boy) (joined Sampdoria for £1.4m rising to £2.6m)
Ernest Asante (AMR) (joined FK Austria Wien for £750k)

FC Nordsjælland: A Background
Founded in 1991, FC Nordsjælland currently play in the Danish Superliga. The club play their home games at the Right to Dream Park and possess Impressive training facilities and average youth facilities. They also have average junior coaching and a well established youth recruitment network. The club have had success in the past having won the Danish Superliga back in 2012 and came runners up in 2013. They've won the Danish Cup on two occasions in 2010 and 2011. Since then they have had nothing to note.

I'm back, I've had a rough time with FM lately having not been able to get into a save and just pottering around different clubs to see if I liked them or not. I had a decent stint in America until the salary cap annoyed me and I gave up on that one too. After seeing a number of Youth Only careers, I decided that I would embark on my own since I haven't done one before. Denmark is my destination and FC Nordsjælland is the team! Let's go.

MID SEASON UPDATE: HERTHA BERLIN
So first of all I need to apologise for the time between this post and my last one...believe it or not, I was in Germany on a scouting mission (not really) but I was over there visiting the Christmas markets in Cologne so thats why I haven't posted. Last time I did post, it was pretty much the start of my mission, I had taken the reins of Hertha Berlin and was hoping to start my challenge for European glory but how did I get on?
A difficult fixture against Leverkusen was my first league game in charge (a little harder than I wanted to start with) and somehow we managed to sneak a draw after being 3-1 down. Points on the board and a run of 5 games where I'd gain maximum points in the league and on my travels in Europe. An 8-0 thrashing of Qarabag set me on my way in the Europa League and I couldn't have wished for a better start to my tenure. My form maintained itself through the mid part of the opening sector including a huge win against FC Bayern which I didn't expect and also we progressed further into the latter stages of the DFB Polkal cup after a fantastic win against fellow high flyers 1. FC Köln.
Overall this meant that we had finished the first half of the season at the top of the league. We would be going into the winter break friendlies 3 points ahead of the rest which totally surprised me. We also finished 2nd in the Europa League Group and got drawn against Braga from Portugal who will provide a stern test for us but I'm confident.

Metropolitan Man: Pre Season RoundUp
The start of the season has quickly come upon us and we have finished our pre season. One I'm pretty proud of as we played some great football both in competitive and non competitive matches. Signings came in and I've had to bat away approaches for my better players that I think will be key for my challenge. I've also changed my captaincy and my squad seemed to take it well and react in a positive fashion. Let's take you through a few key areas:
Transfers: In & Out
It's not been a busy time in the transfer market for me, both on the incomings and the outgoings but I feel like I've strengthened the first team squad with some added depth which was needed. The two outgoings were loan listed and hopefully both of those will come back to the club next season better than now. A lot more youth players and reserves will be loaned out a bit later on in the season to help develop themselves.
ILIE
SUTTNER
Form:
We have played a total of 13 games in pre season: 5 of those beings competitive fixtures and 8 friendly matches. 4 of those games were in the Europa League Qualifiers and the other one being in the DFB-Polkal Cup.
As you can see above we won all the competitive games and we played really really well. Luzern were a strict test for us although I always expected us to win. A 5-2 win on aggregate sent us through to the Group Stages where we have been drawn in a group with: Qarabag, Zenit St Petersburg, and Ludorogetswhich could be tougher than it looks but I hope we can perform well and gain the all important european experience which will be pivotal when we challenge in the Champions League.
The DFB-Polkal kicked off and we got an away win against lower ranked Lotte, but I did expect us to beat them by a bigger margin. A win is a win though and we march on to the next round against FC Koln.
