The final trophy I need to win to complete Uraguay. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be although we performed excellently, but were just pipped to the top spot in our group by 1 measly goal. We performed really well and managed 4 WINS and 3 DRAWS. Not losing in this competition is good for us after we've had some poor form in it recently. It was just one goal that stopped us from progressing to the final. If it wasn't for the Copa Libertadores, I'd probably resign and move on in my quest and just come back to Uraguay at a later date, but I'm looking forward to the challenge in the continental competition.

LEAGUE FIXTURES

https://i.imgur.com/NA2gD3U.png

Coming from a ridiculously successful season last time around, I knew it would be hard to emulate our league form when you add in the added games from the Copa Libertadores. We've still alright and I'm not to disheartened with our form. We've managed to grab more wins than losses. The disappointing thing is that we didn't manage to beat any team in the top 5. We really need to beat those teams to challenge for the title.

Through the first 15 games, we managed: 8 WINS, 1 DRAW and 6 LOSSES. The aim is to have more wins than losses so that's always good. Onto the next 15 games to maybe put ourselves in with a chance of the league title again.

OPENING STAGE LEAGUE TABLE

https://i.imgur.com/p2LBN9G.png

[i]We sit in 6th place at the halfway stage. A fair gap of 10 points is between us and top spot but it's not impossible for us to close it so we will keep on fighting to do just that.

COPA LIBERTADORES UPDATE

https://i.imgur.com/qhrhchV.png

Our first time taking part in the continental competition and we've done brilliantly so far. As expected we succumbed to 2 defeats against the mighty Boca Juniors but managed to pick up vital wins against the other two teams. 2 wins against Boliviar and 1 against Cerro Porteno meant that we had done just enough to qualify for the next round. I'm ecstatic with this and who knows what may happen in the next round...

@bigmattb28, thanks for catching up! Getting in the same group as Boca is a killer, but should bring in some much-needed cash in gate receipts. I hope we can grab results against the other two teams and maybe grab a 2nd placed finish to qualify.

@Dan, 3/4 completed, 1 to go, and it's the cup that nearly cost me the league title last season due to my horrendous form in it. Fingers crossed we can tick it off this time around.

@HvonBerenreute, Thank you for reading up. I've never managed in South America before so it's definitely a challenge. Loving it so far.

@bricktamland, Cheers for catching up! I'm really enjoying this save and hopefully we can tick off the final trophy in Uraguay this season!

Last seasons success is still ringing in my ears and I'm excited to see if we can replicate it. The main bit of news is that we haven't had to go through the qualifying stages for the Copa Libertadores which is really pleasing. We get a cool £1.3m for being in the group stages which helps boost the coffers. I've had issues keeping all my players happy as I've got a set first team which has done well for me, so others aren't as happy. I'll look to address that this season. The aims this season are:

- To win the Intermedio
- To win the Super Cup

TRANSFERS // IN

Nicolas Claveria // CM // Universidad de Chile // Free
Nicolas comes in as Renzo Perez leaves a hole in the midfield. He's a strong player who I'm hoping can slot straight into the team alongside Maximilliano Lemos or Gaston Diaz. That's a strong three players in there anyway.
https://i.imgur.com/QzjOpj2.png

Martin Rios // GK // Once Caldas // £180k
Martin came highly recommended from my Chief Scout and he had a minimum fee release clause of £180k. I thought I should use this and put in a bid to match that. He's a hell of a keeper and has all the attributes needed to become a legend at the club. He's only a youngster and I'm hoping he can be a future leader for us.
https://i.imgur.com/n7GkYDp.png

TRANSFERS // OUT

Renzo Perez // Uraguay Montevideo // Free (End of Contract)

PRE SEASON RESULTS

4 pre-season friendlies as we have a shorter preseason than usual due to the Super Cup. 4 wins out of 4 is always a good sign. A big win against CEC who play their football in the Brazillian first division is always good and I'm really happy to say we can play against bigger teams.

https://i.imgur.com/cQ1w5UT.png

SUPER CUP

We were drawn against Defensor Sporting once against in the Super Cup. They won the Intermedio last season and us the league so that's why we play them. It's another trophy I need to tick off the list so I put a strong team out. It's also a good chance to give the fans some enjoyment. We managed to grab a win on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Nahuel Alfonso continued his scoring for the club with the only goal for us. I know it's not a big trophy to win but I'm pleased to add it to my collection and get it out of the way.

https://i.imgur.com/XHfMDqT.png

COPA LIBERTADORES GROUP STAGE DRAW

As I said above, we have been awarded a straight path to the Copa Libertadores Group Stage and have been drawn in the group as a South American giant. Boca Juniors (Argentina), Bolivar (Bolivia), and Cerro Porteno (Paraguay), are all in the same group as us. It's a tough as but I believe in the boys and maybe we can cause an upset.

Champions Playoff Result

First Leg (Home)

https://i.imgur.com/IMpTDIh.png

We managed to grab the win in the home leg. We needed to make sure we won this game due to the home advantage and that's exactly what we did. Marcio Benitez scampered through their defence in the 6th minute and slotted it home to give us the lead. We were under pressure for the last 20 minutes but we held on and took the lead into the 2nd leg away from home.

Second Leg (Away)

https://i.imgur.com/cxJmRPb.png

WE HELD ON! A boring 0-0 draw was enough to win us the league and crown us champions! What a boring way to do it, but I'll take it. There was literally no action and that's exactly what we needed. An unspectacular way to win the trophy but one that I will take every day.

https://i.imgur.com/WFdNw2I.png

That's 2/4 in Uruguay completed, so only the Intermedio and the Super Cup to win. Hopefully, we can tick them off this season, and then I can move onwards.

We're all done and dusted for my 3rd campaign in charge. It's been one hell of a season and I've have results go in my favour and some games that have been frustrating to watch. We've performed really well and we've surpassed expectations once again. I still haven't found that striker that will score me 20+ a season so that's the target for the offseason anyway. Here's how we got on...

MANAGER UPDATE

Nothing of massive proportion to mention, but I've reached my 100th game in charge of Juventud de Las Piedres. That's come round quickly too, and here's to many more in charge of this wonderful club. My record in these 100 games are: 49 WINS, 31 DRAWS and 20 LOSSES!

So, what I didn't realise was that they take the [b]Intermedio
competition results into consideration too when determining league position. So all those games I lost in that competition go onto the overall league table which is slightly annoying. We continued our league form into the second half of the season and continued our scoring in the process. Our record for the second half of eh season was 10 WINS, 3 DRAWS and 2 LOSSES. I'm overjoyed with how we've managed to establish ourselves as contenders for the title in just two seasons in the league. We score a total of 29 goals this half and conceded 16 in the process so that's good too. Huge wins against Defensor Sporting who have been challenging all season so it was pleasing to see us come out and beat them.

CLOSING SECTION LEAGUE TABLE

https://i.imgur.com/inW3diM.png

WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE, SAY WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE. We won the closing section of the season coming out on top. We managed to scrape over the line and win the section by only 1 point ahead of Nacional who have a mega strong team in Uruguayan football.

OVERALL LEAGUE TABLE

https://i.imgur.com/vgUwxIo.png

AFter taking into consideration the Opening Section, the Intermedio and the Closing Section we finished in 2nd position in the overall table. We finished 2 points behind Defnsor Sporting who won on 73 points, whereas we had 71 points. For some reason, we have been drawn in a Champions Playoff, I'm not sure why as we are 2 points behind them but I'll sure as take it. I think the winner of these 2 legged playoff will win the league and collect the trophy.

The focus is on the league this season so all eyes are on that now. We only managed 2 WINS and 4 LOSSES, That's poor and not really acceptable for our club nowadays. We'll move on quickly from this.

My 3rd season in charge of the club has started and we're still in the top flight. We've also been entered in the Copa Libertadores which is a totally new competition for myself. Who knows what we can do as I don't really know how Uraguyan teams stand against the rest of the continent. The aim this season is to win the league and the cup. Tough ask but one I think we're up to in terms of quality.

MANAGER UPDATE

Just a quick update here, once again I've extended my contract with the club for another year. They are loving having me in charge and I'm loving being here to be quite honest. It was a no brainer!

https://i.imgur.com/T3cinHX.png

Copa Libertadores

As I said before, this competition is a totally new one for me having never managed in it on the game before. I don't think we are expected to leave a mark in the competition to be honest but we gave it our best shot. We were drawn against Chilean outfit Universidad de Chile who are in the top flight in Chilean football. They were the clear favourites against us and showed their ability winning both legs. The first leg ended in a 1-0 LOSS leaving us with it all to do in the reverse fixture. We ended up drawing0-0 at home which was slightly disappointing considering we were at home and we just needed to grab a goal. We had lots of chances so to draw was frustrating.

Only positive was that we got a bit of money to go into the much needed coffers. Maybe next year eh?

When you look back at the form last season in the first half of the season, we started off well but tailed off towards the end of that section of the league. This time around we've done so much better. We've only lost the one game which is outstanding. We've kept clean sheets and more importantly, we've put our chances away at the other end. I'm so impressed with the lads and hopefully we can keep the momentum going into the 2nd half of the season.

9 WINS,5 DRAWS, and 1 LOSSES.

A quick four friendlies is all that we arranged before the season kicks off. We have qualifying for the Copa Libertadores to get through so the fewer friendlies the better really. That's right! The fan favourite has returned. He wasn't enjoying his time at Bella Vista after they got relegated last season. He jumped at the chance to join us again and we paid the exact same for him as we sold him for so no losses there. He's a quality player and we needed someone in the middle to create chances. I'm ecstatic to have him back.

It's been a much better second half to the season as we managed to turn those annoying draws into wins. We also managed to score a lot more which always helps. The Uruguayan Cup competition happens in between the Opening Stage and the Closing Stage. It's a group competition involving all the top division teams which are split into two groups. We were placed in Group B. As you can see, we managed to not lose in the competition and had 2 WINS and 5 DRAWS which is pretty decent in my eyes. We scored a total of 7 goals and let in only 4. If only we could have managed to grab another win instead of a draw as it wasn't enough to finish in the only qualification spot. It was 2nd place for us and that ends our cup competition for this year. Positive though.

Fixtures

https://i.imgur.com/fhJIrN4.png

Draws have been my most common result this season so far. We've had a lot of them which I guess is a good thing, but also it's frustrating as we could've quite easily turned a few of them into wins. I have found that we don't score many goals which is hindering us in key matches. We need Santiago Ramirez to start scoring on a regular basis. It took him 15 games to grab his first for the club which isn't good at all.

So 15 games in, we managed to rack up 4 WINS, 8 DRAWS, and only 3 LOSSES. I'm pretty happy with how we've fared and we've equipped ourselves really well in the first season in the top flight. With a few key signings (one is incoming) I think we could challenge at the upper end of the table.

LEAGUE TABLE

https://i.imgur.com/fhJIrN4.png

We sit in 8th position in the league! Right in the middle of the pack which is well above where the media predicited we would finish. We're expected to be in the bottom 3 so I'm ecstatic with where we are. Time to improve on that in the Closing Stage.

@zippygeorgeandben thank you so much for the kind words! The minor leagues are always interesting, I really don't know much about the South American leagues so it's a learning curve!
I speak English and Spanish fluently on the game, hopefully, can learn a lot more on my travels.

@bigmattb28 I hope it continues to man! It's going to be a tough ask to be competitive in this division this season but the aim is to stay up definitely!

Last seasons title win is firmly behind us, and we've just completed preseason before our first season in the top flight of Uruguayan football The aims for the season are simple: to just finish as high as possible. I'm totally unsure at how things will go but we've made additions and I think we are a lot stronger than before. Some key players have left but we've replaced them well and we're ready for the season to start.

TRANSFERS // IN

Gaston Palacios // AMR // Free Transfer // Free
I bought in Gaston to be an option on the right wing. He's pacey with an eye for goal and seems to be good when coming on as a sub. He's definitely going to have a role this season and hopefully can grab a few goals.

Jean Pierre Rosso // WBR // Free Transfer // Free
Jean Pierre is going to be my back up right back for the season. Mathias Bogado is my number one but he's more than capable of coming in if he gets injured. He's only young so will improve as well.

Santiago Ramirez // ST // Danubio // Free
Santiago has come in to replace the outgoing Frederico Vinas. He's a quality striker with decent finishing and has everythign to be a quality poacher in this league.

Rodrigo Urena // DM // Deportes Antofagasta // Free
Rodrigo is going to challenge straight away for the starting holding midfield job. He's going to be a strong player in that position and I'm hoping he can be the link between the defence and the midfield.

Gaston Rosello // DL // Free Transfer // Free
Just like Jean Pierre, Gaston has come in to back up my left back Brayhan Pinheiro. He's young and has got the good potential to be our starting LB in the future.

Gaston Diaz // CM // Santiago Morning // £40k
My third Gaston in the squad. He's my big money signing and will be my key man in the middle. He's come in to replace Maximilliano Lemos in the centre of the park. I'm excited to see what he can do this season.

PRE SEASON RESULTS

We only had time for the 5 friendlies before the season starts. We have played a mixture of teams and managed to get 5 wins. A good win against Danubio who are in the same league should stand us in good stead for the season. The new lads have settled in well and are itching at the bit to get going.
