Found it! In the db folder, there should be a folder titled 2300, in which the files from this download are to be saved.

 

that fixed it. Thanks heaps.

I'm stumped. What names in particular aren't changing?

 

Manchester United and Napoli that I can see at a glance.

I've had no luck applying the work around to my existing save, the names were actually fine before and then I downloaded the updated file and they reverted in the save game back to the original fake names. 

Any pointers? I 100% followed the instructions….at least 4 times now. 

*UPDATE it has happened in all of my save games, pretty infuriating had I just left it I would have not had this issue.
