Cleverley is hardly a bad player.

I just don't think he's really good enough at anything in particular to stand out in a 2 man midfield at United. I think if he was at a team that played him in a 3 he'd do well at moving the play along and keeping the team ticking over without having to be burdened by the responsibility of being particularly creative or that key defensively.

At any rate, he's a local lad probably content with being a squad player and about good enough to fulfil that role

There's nothing particularly exciting about that, but if Lingard came in and was about that level (set the bar as low as being better than Ashley Young) thats £18m saved if nothing else and if he's any better than that then great.

It's not really worth me offering my opinion of Cleverley's talents but I can't let that comment go... He was born in Hampshire and raised in Braford ffs!

You missed out Kompany - he was outstanding.

I did indeed. That was his best game in a long time, probably his best since the derby he scored in.

Not quite sure where to start with that performance. Everybody was good, even Kolarov looked like a good Premier League player (that's how bad you were in the first half, United fans) most impressive though were Fernandinho, Yaya, Navas, Nasri and Agüero.

Is there a bigger cunt in the league than N'Zonzi? Just a thug.

Oh, there are many, many more. He's not even the biggest cunt in Stoke's squad

Kinda wish we'd signed Baines now.

You may not need him but he'd be such a big improvement on Evra, he's so suited to United's style too.

By all accounts we were reluctantly letting him go for first team football, but he looks as good a winger as Cleverley is a midfielder.

That doesn't sound very good.

Aye going forward it looks absolutely awkward. Toure nor Sakho won't offer much in the attack. Mind you Kolo had a nice run earlier.

Kolo's good as an attacking full-back, he's just not used to doing it regularly, he was really good for us at right-back a couple of seasons back.

I'm not used to seeing us play this well in Europe. It's weird.

Great strike by Yaya Toure!

That was an unbelievable goal.

All I'm getting from this is the north is shit.

No. Certain towns in the North that have suffered from a combination massive under-investment and a lack of jobs are shit.

Pretty sure they've hated him for a while now

Yeah, I can remember him being slated by United fans for his antics last season.

I've always liked Barry and feel like he's always been picked on because of that one particularly poor performance for England against Germany at the World Cup.

Bang on. One of the most under-appreciated players in the country for the best part of 3 years. Hopefully he gets a bit of recognition at Everton.

That was a mistake. Rochdale's a hole.

City XI: Hart; Zabaleta, Garcia, Nastasic, Kolarov; Milner, Rodwell, Toure (C); Nasri, Negredo, Jovetic.

Jovetic makes his debut, Negredo makes his first start and the less said about Kolarov the better.

Just a fun fact, but the guy who owns the WayneGooney account is Game, as in the guy who ran LosWonderkids, SupportsInteractive etc. For some reason during the summer he changed the name of his Twitter account and pretends to be an in the know Arsenal fan. He's claimed some really outrageous things, amongst them things like Fabregas has already agreed to join Arsenal and that Wayne Rooney is certain to join Arsenal too. Of course with one day left in the window his bullshit claims are looking very strange.

Skacel pointed it out to me and I've called him out on it twice, but I get no response. I don't really understand what he gets out of tweeting dozens of times a die lying about Arsenal to people, it just seems really strange.

Makes sense. The guy's a total cunt.
