He lashed out and definitely meant to leave one on Downing as you said. Deserved the red and three game ban that'll come with it. Just proved he's not right to be captain doing that, really dropped us in the shit and it probably should have cost us the win as I'm not sure Nolan was offside when he scored.

I agree that Rooney definitely isn't a great choice of captain. He has great passion and is loud on the pitch etc but this side of his game has always let him down, coupled with his often poor attitude and application he isn't the type of player who others could see as a role model or inspiration. The main problem is we don't have anyone else even close to him in terms of captain qualities. RVP is a potential one but even he seems fairly quiet on the pitch and with his injury record it would seem kinda pointless.

Yeah we've just been defending ever since Rooney got sent off. Took Falcao off and left Van Persie on which essentially gives us no movement at all up top too. Basically all we can do is hold on now

And theres the inevitable...oh wait ruled out. Phew

Our best performance of the season (until Zaba was sent off at least). Nowhere near good enough going forward but the midfield was pretty good and the defence was even better, Mangala was brilliant.

Not 100% sure if the red card actually was a red (I haven't seen any replays yet) but Mike Dean had a shocker overall. The only thing to really annoy me about that game.

They were both definitely yellows IMO

So what do all the Utd fans that were saying things were looking much better after the QPR game think now?

I think all of us acknowledge we weren't there yet and all of us have also acknowledged how awful our defence is. We were just happy to see us playing better, quicker and with more movement and even for a large portion of the game today we were still pretty good. We just fell apart and Leicester capitalised on it perfectly.

It was game over as soon as at 3-3 we took off Di Maria and Falcao. Leaving us with Rooney and RVP up top. The same blunt, slow, insipid attack we had at the beginning of the season. Fair play to Leicester though, ran their socks off all game.

Pretty much yeah, though it does still depend quite a bit on the skill of the player. I've seen a fair few level 20's be awful in deathmatches.

Yeah we obviously weren't tested defensively today and it's no secret we still need at least one world class centre back. Maybe even another strong midfielder like Strootman/Vidal or whatever. Sort that out and I'm pretty sure we can consistently compete at the top again.

But honestly the best thing about today was the tempo we played at.

Yeah we know it's only QPR. But any improvement in performance and more importantly confidence is a massive step forward.

We look much better with 4 at the back. Much quicker passing and Di Maria is absolute tits. Reminds me loads of a young Giggs the way the just bombs forward.
