It's probably prudent to point out that the Danish version is pretty popular in England.

Sunderland really must believe Di Canio has some kind of clout with Italian players. I don't thin I've ever seen any Italian talk kindly abut him, save for Lazio Ultras.

Moyes: "Good morning Antonio.
Valencia: "Boss, I have a problem I need to talk to you about."
Moyes: "Go on."
Valencia: "Well, I would like to switch back to my old number."
Moyes: "From the number seven? But why?"
Valencia: "The pressure of the number is getting to me. Every time I step on the pitch I feel it burdening my shoulders. The rich history behind it, the names. Every game I play I feel as though I am not just playing of myself but playing with Best, Robson, Cantona, Beckham and Ronaldo sitting on my back.
Moyes: "I'm the boss and I'll be the one to decide who stays or goes."
I don't know, I got bored and was going to turn it into just parroting FM conversation tree selections, except they're just dull.

It's 3m up front, which makes it more reasonable. Looking at the pricing of supposedly decent strikers from the Championship that figure is not absurd. I would need to know exactly what the add-ons are though, although even if it's just a s simple as, say, £2m if they survive then you have to say it's worth it.

I think the best example is to look at the reactions to offensive and hateful comments on Twitter. I can only talk about myself, but I can assume to a certain degree that there are people who would side with me, that reading about hateful comments like "i wish you were dead", "I'll rape you", "I'm going to blow you up" don't even register on my radar. That's because I've grown up with the internet, exaggeration as a form of expression is par for the course. But the fascinating thing has been watching people whose use of the internet prior to Twitter was for email and occasionally checking out the BBC website: they get angered by it. Outraged. They're up in arms, they want justice.
Let's be real here, if anyone on here received a death threat from someone on Twitter, would they do anything? I highly doubt it. But it's this intriguing melting pot of old world meeting the new world and not liking it, so they're trying to mould it to fit their beliefs.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying going around telling people you want to kill them should be an acceptable thing, but I just find it difficult to care because I'm so desensitised to it, but also I accept the internet, at least the social side, has to be taken with a pinch of salt.
I do wonder if things will still be the same in 50 years time, or whether the internet will be a clean, sanitary version of now with blocks and panic buttons all over the place and some kind of digital response team. I think it'd be rather sad, because for better or worse the ecosystem the internet has now is endearing, in its own way, like an irradiated dog or ripped jumper.

I started a petition, which will hopefully accelerate the change we need.

I don't think it is short-termism. The amount of cash clubs get once promoted has risen hugely since the middle of the last decade and it sometimes feels like we're still stuck in that mindset. At least sometimes I am and I need to re-check my thinking: staying up is so lucrative it makes complete sense to purchase high value players who can bring something to the club. I was as surprised as anyone by Gaston Ramirez's arrival in Southampton, but it's moves like that which will help you cement your place.
You only have to look at how difficult it was for newly promoted sides in the early 2000s just to stay in the league, because they simply didn't have the funds, to realise that it is in your best interests to go all out to secure top flight status. I haven't got any statistics to hand, but I'd bet the survival rate of newly promoted sides from the last five years is higher than from ten years ago, because they can support themselves better.

I've been watching a lot of BBC News this week and they haven't stopped going on about how poisonous ask.fm is and how it needs to be better monitored etc. I can't wait for the fallout tomorrow. They had advertisers dropping them left right and centre because of this.
