Matthew Syed is a boss. Absolutely destroyed Tony Cascarino on the issue.

That's not quite fair. Cascarino was invited on to discuss the impact of Abramovich over the last ten years, so he came on with stories about that, how the club has changed and so on. Syed came on with an agenda to espouse the means being ragged as fuck. That's why you have three people on completely the wrong wavelength with another, because no one came prepared for that. A lot of what Syed is saying is true and I think it's good he did so, but trying to frame it as a destruction of Cascarino is wrong. It's a kick in the face to Sky who thought it would be a a good idea to invite a features writer on board to discuss the merits of an oligarch.

Django, Flight, Spring Breakers, Fast 6, Behind the Candelabra, Mud.

Put it this way, Place Beyond the Pines was perfectly fine, but it's not something I'm in a rush to ever watch again, I'd rather watch The Last Stand again, because that's more engaging.

Completed Tomb Raider last night, so fucking good.

It's a great game. As someone who never had the pleasure of playing an Uncharted game I've heard Tomb Raider was a good substitute.

She has all the assets that go into a top player. Someone like Justine Henin-Hardene was unable to completely dominate because she just did have the physical tools to out muscle people, but Robson has the height to be a complete player. Every game she gets better. I wouldn't be surprised if she's top 10 by October.

When I say it's the best mini-series ever made, I don't mean 'it's the best mini-series ever made, except for Band of Brothers' I mean 'it's the best mini-series ever made'.

Other mini-series it's better than:

Generation Kill
Mildred Pierce
State of Play
The Pacific (which I don't think is that good)
Summer Heights High

But those are all mini-series you need to watch, particularly State of Play and Mildred Pierce.

I read it pretty quickly. The character is a fucking narcissistic monster (film version has absolutely nothing on book version) and I had to put it down a few times, but it's a brilliant read.

I just find it really difficult to read in terms of the actual language structure. Entire pages with no paragraph breaks, aimless description, meaningless interaction. It's brilliant because that style is so deliberately used to desensitise you to everything that happens in his life, to show how fucking pointless everything is. But it's still a really frustrating read.
