That looks perfectly fine and it should work fine in-game.

Can you quickly start a new game and take screenshots of the Bundesliga club names and those in the Portuguese top division? Depends on how they look, I may be able to tell what is wrong. I'm assuming that the files are loaded when you start the new game, right?

This download contains a folder named editor data, which contains 5 files. Put these in Documents / Sports Interactive / Football Manager 2017 / editor data. They must be directly in this folder, and not in any other sub-folder. The path must be exactly as the screenshot displayed above.

I would like to see a screenshot of where the files are, if possible, so I can verify that the above is indeed the case.

Can you check the same path except without the x86 part? It must be somewhere, after all, otherwise the game wouldn't be running.

I told you broadly the same things but at one point you seem to have stumbled on the solution.

Having had another look at your screenshot yesterday, make sure the files are in the same path and structure as the below screenshot.

not working still sadly. I'm not sure what I should be copying across to where. The German team is working but not the names.

I'm only a few games into pre season with my first game so i'm happy to start that again but, from what i can see, everything is as it should be in terms of the files being where there they should be. is it worth a remove and re download the game and files?
or any ideas?

Edit: I see we've already had a very similar conversation earlier this year with the FM16 version of this file and that you eventually solved it, so make sure you do the same steps

That particular file can't be opened with Notepad, but only with the editor.

Club name changes only work if applied BEFORE starting a new game. There is a workaround in the first post to get them displayed in an existing save game, but this will see the respective clubs' nicknames not appearing.

The Germany national team is working but not the team names. I looked in the editor folder and the file is full of nonsense, any ideas what's gone wrong?

Also, ideally, you delete the fake.edt and SI_team_holland files from the edt/permanent folders.

If the save game was started with a pre-16.3 database, then you need to make sure that the lnc files are also placed in the 1600 and 1601 lnc folder.

yep, that's it. just a simple copy and paste of the 1630 inc folder in 1600 and 1601?

As suspected, you've not installed the files correctly.

Make sure you delete the 1630 dbc, edt and lnc folder and THEN put the ones from this download instead.

i've done all that, and the fix in the first comment but i'm still getting BMG and Gelsenkirchen in Germany.

any suggestions?

You've only uploaded a screenshot with the contents of the dbc folder, and not of the other folders I requested. It looks fine.

I have no idea what "nonsense where it was once English" means tbh; appreciate a bit more detail so I can tell what's the matter there.

I'd also appreciate a screenshot of what's wrong in your game so I know what to look for

the nonsense where it was once English is attached as forbidden names and the 1630 dbc screenshot that shows the file path

what's wrong in the game is that the German team names have reverted so it's BMG, Gelsenkirchen etc,

1630 inc and edt permanent are there too

Looks to me like you've not applied the files from this download correctly. Can you upload a screenshot of your 1630/dbc/permanent folder, your 1630/edt/permanent folder and your 1630/lnc folder?

Also, the Brazil fix cannot be remedied at this point if you'd started the game already without applying the changes from this download...

i started a new game relatively recently and the name fixes have broken, certainly on the German teams.

i did the Brazil fix but that hasn't worked.

Apologies if I've missed someone else giving the fix but I couldn't see anything in the comments I saw.

Can anyone help?

Just remove any entries which you don't want or like, and they'll take effect the next time that you load your save game.

Open the file using Notepad, then follow the instructions in the very first post. Should give you the correct club names that way.

i didn't know about notepad. all good now, thanks very much,
if anything it's too good as i now have no idea what all the Serie A awards are now that they've reverted back to their full and proper names.
any tips for that?

The files in the first comment are the basis of this download. If they're not there, then you haven't applied or downloaded it correctly. Have another look and find the City, Club and Stadium Names.lnc file.

i did this and on my saved game it hasn't sorted the German club names. i don't know if it's sorted the German national team because they haven't had any games since i did it.
i tried the thing in the first comment but couldn't find those files
any tips anyone?
