So she has a lot of one-night stands and alcohol issues- doesn't mean she consented to have sex with Ched Evans. The only reason this website exists is because he has the money to afford this sort of disproportionate legal support.

There's a far simpler explanation.

We aren't signing Falcao.

Quite.

I can't see Rooney staying if we actually do go ahead and sign Falcao, unless he intends to turn into an attacking midfielder permanently. Maybe Hernandez put in a transfer request?

Jaygull attempts to look clever while failing to spell "Falklands" correctly.

Oops, amended that, not that it detracts from the content of the argument.

Yeah, should have ended 2-1 really, with Reus' goal as the late winner if the linesman actually paid any attention during that match.

Absolute codswallop. Lower league football is brutal compared to the Premier League. The PL is basically non-contact these days.

The 'km' run will be far more demanding, and therefore lead to muscle fatigue and increase risk of injury.

People celebrating her death rightfully come across as morons. Especially those who are under the age of 30.

True, the death of a frail old woman is nothing to celebrate, especially given that her ideological stance is the default position for all common ground politics today. It's hardly like Thatcherism died with her.

I really don't get it though. Let's establish one thing first, I don't like conservatives. Social conservatives anyway, they have this annoying habit of using politics to disguise their intolerance. I would never even consider voting for them while they have their current attitude because voting for them is basically voting against myself. Not that I have any intention of voting for Labour either but that's a different issue.

The thing is though people voted for Thatcher. Lots of people, it wasn't even really that close. Then she won 2 more elections with the margin widening. Then when she left, people voted for John Major. She did some harsh things, but hard decisions had to be made. The country was fucked when she came into power and she improved the situation. That's why people kept voting for her. I'm not much of a humanities guy, but I am numbers guy and you can't argue with those stats, most people thought she was doing a good job.

I understand that the people who don't think she did a good job are REALLY going to think she didn't do a good job and that's fine. I don't have any issue of that, she did some tough things. But when facebook and whatever else is filled with teenagers who don't even know what she did or why celebrating her death that's just fucking stupid.

Thatcher's ability to win elections was a mixture of Labour having to reorganize and regalvanize itself as the hardcore leftists left for the Social Democrats Party and the Socialist Worker's Party and the Tories reshifted the consensus towards a neoliberal monetarist ground. Winning elections in a two-party state is easy because of Duverger's law, which is that in a multi-party system that operates with a voting system like FPTP, you will always get safe seats and two dominant parties. Rather than attempting to win over the public, she was willing to absolutely destroy Wales, Scotland and the North and redistribute wealth to the South in an attempt to win the marginal seats. It was realpolitik at its worst, and it was shockingly immoral considering it only happened 30 years ago. I have lived in the South all my life, but it is obvious to see that she created nothing short of a class war and divided our country geographically as she did so economically, destroying the infrastructure of the North whilst bloating the financial sector of London, deregulated and tax-haven to the wealthy.

There is plenty of information available on the Winter of Discontent, and indeed, on Keynesianism, to suggest that there are substantial myths about the state of the country's finances and the ways in which they were caused and how they have been resolved. The country started to falter only during a recession when Callaghan started to adopt monetarism, something that Thatcher embraced more vehemently. The election results are a mixture of the fact that monetarism massively favours the wealthiest in society (ie. all private media outlets such as newspapers and television) and the elites of society, more so than any other economic and political ideology.

Out of all the criticism towards Thatcher, the both subtle and not so subtle criticism of her liberating the Falklands completely baffles me.

How anyone could possibly argue that defending your own citizens and freeing them from a junta-led occupation is a bad thing is completely beyond my comprehension.

It's a mixture of the fact that she was warned about the Falklands, and did nothing, and then went gung-ho and then used this outpouring of military victory to pave over the cracks of her first term, and callously used the deaths of the soldiers of both sides for the political purpose of re-election.

FWIW. She was right about Sands, Mandela and Falklands. I hate the way she ruined the area I grew up in but over the last few years memos have gone public showing that Hillsborough and the area bias was not wholly due to her so that for me has softened my stance against her.

Ireland remains under a post-colonialist shadow, divided by religion and political loyalties tied to economic development. Mandela is not a terrorist. The Falklands war perhaps could have been avoided, and I don't begrudge her that, but rather the manner in which it was used as the means of re-election strategy.

I forgot to mention that she was anti-feminist, anti-homosexuality, anti-society and pro-Pinochet.

Why do all the Brits hate her? I know all the republicans here in Ireland absolutely despise her, like she was the worst person that ever existed, but what did she do so wrong in Britain?

The privatization of infrastructure, the creation of a graduate class, a speculative and deregulated financial sector, Rupert Murdoch, calling the ANC that was fighting against apartheid 'a bunch of terrorists' (Nelson Mandela was one of those involved in the movement), supported the despotic regime of Pinochet, covered up the police incompetence with Hillsborough, mass unemployed and a stubborn refusal to change from monetarist policies even as Reagan changed course. I probably left some out.

QPR deserve that. Three minutes of the four added on have been waiting for them to build walls for two free kicks. Wigan should have been given more time to try and snatch a winner.

I think the death penalty should be allowed for certain cases, such as Mick Philpott's case. The sick cunt killed 6 children , 6! And to make everything so much worse he doesn't give a shit , you saw how he smiled when he left court and stuck up the two fingers to the public gallery, wanting to sell the teddies outside of his house and demanding he gets the profits and so on. He's a sick creature who deserves to be thrown into a burning house and burnt alive, just as he did to those kids, whether he meant it or not. Recently read an article about a guy in Saudi Arabia who will be paralysed as punishment for paralysing his victim. What better way to punish him? I dunno how the prison system in England is but here in Ireland its a life of luxury. They all have TV's, game console's and all that. Those privileges shouldn't be given to any prisoner. Not a mind someone who murdered another person/persons. We're far too soft its almost embarrassing.

An eye for an eye justice was dated when it was espoused in the Old Testament. Killing a man because you think killing is immoral is illogical, and state-sanctioned murder. Furthermore, if they're dead, there's no punishment.

No, the rule is that if two men from the same team are down injured, the game has to stop, and that you can't order two players from the same team off for treatment at the same time, and the ref did both of these things...apparently.

It's actually 3 games in 5 days.

Ironic? just fact.

Anyway, we beat Macc 3-1 last night. Dunno if our Macclesfield supporter is still on here these days?

Apparently, Macc reckoned our 3rd goal was offside as the ball played through went forwards.... Pretty comical that they don't know the rules. The lad who scored ran from 10 yards behind the play.

Obviously playing two top-flight games, especially in English football, is going to be more physically intense and more mentally fatiguing than playing against lower league opposition.
