#538441 Problems progressing from a training screen on FM 2019
danwhite89
It's my second season, joined a club with no other staff. I don't normally bother with training at all so I'm not familiar with the tabs.
I've hired coaches and other staff and they are taking all the training duties, but I still cannot get past this screen, no matter how many days I go on holiday.
Is this a known bug? Am I supposed to authorise something that I'm not aware of? The only thing I can think of doing is to resign and try again, but I don't really want to do that because I like the team I signed for!

A defeat at home to Honduras didn't bode well, although we managed to get a goal to somewhat close the gap between the two sides.
A big defeat at Jamaica proved how light we were. Interesting was that we both scored in the 53rd minute, and I can confirm that it was us that scored the second goal of the minute, meaning we were 4-0 down at one point. Grim.
Another game, another defeat, although 2-0 down after 9 minutes, we held on to keep the scoreline, if not the other stats, respectable.
Didn't expect too much, truth be told.
We then somehow pulled this out the bag, a magnificent draw at Costa Rica! Despite the stats saying otherwise, we had many good chances to win the game and thoroughly deserved at least a point.
And we bowed out with a defeat to the USA. Similarly to the Mexican game, we crumbled early on and nearly made an embarrassment of the nation, but another great defensive display for 80 minutes kept the score down. On the right hand side, you can see that we got two points and five goals from ten games. Grim, but something to build on, I guess?
Oh yeah, and we fell out the top 100 of the World rankings....

So, we're beginning as Cuba. First off, the administrative stuff:
Deece wage for a nation like Cuba.
Overview of the nation. In the top half of the World Rankings, and with a decent population to pick players from.
Not a bad expectation, considering...
...we already made the Fourth Round. They've not done too well, 1 point from the first half of games, but at least they're there. However, the poor start would probably add reason to this:
Aaaaand already our ranking takes a blow.

The potted history of the national side is interesting, and they were one of the first North American sides to embrace football. Qualifying for the 1938 World Cup, they achieved the greatest feat in the history of Caribbean football, reaching the Quarter Finals after defeating Rumania (not a typo, they were actually called that!). They were soundly beaten 8-0 in the Quarters to Sweden, but remain revered in Island folklore as a side that managed to go to Europe and beat them at their own game. Since then however their World Cup history has been disappointing. Failing to qualify since the 1938 edition, the team didn't even enter qualifying for 1958, 1962, 1970, 1974, 1986 or 1994.
The Gold Cup record has been rather unremarkable as well. They either failed to qualify or did not enter eight of the ten precursor tournaments of the CONCACAF Championship, but have at least been more consistent in the Gold Cup era, with seven qualifications from twelve and two Quarter Final achievements in 2003 and recently, in 2013. If we go even more local, Cuba are a regular feature in the bi-yearly Caribbean Cup, and although they only won their first trophy in the 2012 edition, they have finished in the final four places in each of the last seven tournaments, proving to be one of the Caribbean's strongest nations. With the top four from the tournament qualifying for the Gold Cup, it's imperative to give the competition respect.
So there's history in this Communist country, and history that I hope to tap from in order to make Cuba relevant on the footballing map again.

However I'm afraid I'm going to put this career on hiatus. Why? Well, it's become a little bit boring. Apart from the months of June-August, where I'm doing transfers and trying to qualify for one of the two tournaments. The rest of the year is just me smashing more cannon fodder like I'm The Mountain, and trying not to embarrass myself in Europe, with the feint hope of picking up a point or two along the way.
I know I've made a lot of progress and to end at a point where I've just earned a massive amount of money, broke into the CL and helped us rise highly in the Coefficients might sound a bit daft but to be honest, I'm burnt out somewhat. I can see the career plateauing because to be honest, there's only so much I can do as TNS manager while the rest of Wales limps along uncompetitively. I mulled over taking Saints to as high as I could then taking over someone else, and I also mulled with the idea of adding a manager and trying to take another team to the top (or second) while retaining TNS, but they may have been seen as cheating, I guess. Either way, the challenge is solid, but I think I've proved that you can make some progression. I reckon I could have broken the top 20 if not top 15 with enough work put into it.
I have about 10 other Career ideas in my head, including continuing with my International Series (of which I've only completed 2/8!) so stay tuned because I'll be back with another file in the not-too-distant future, hopefully. And by all means, keep this on tabs because I may come back to it every now and then. The updates won't be as in depth or frequent but if I'm up to it I might give season-to-season updates.
Tarra. For now.

Losing 1-0, bring on the young one, turns the game around in the last twelve minutes. Big future for Dan Haywood.
FUCK OFF THEN DIDN'T WANT YOU ANYWAY
Won the Welsh Cup for the fourth time in a row against some part timers. Yay....
And we won the league. Scored over 100 goals, finally broke into the 90 point margin, dropping just six points all game. Too easy.
Fixtures:
Some big, big scores in there. Couple of 6-0s, a 5-0, beating Airbus 5-2 away from home to win the league in a game where I was 2-0 down at halftime in, it's all quite easy now. Nice that Ameobi got a goal in his final league game too!
The stats. The main ones from there that we'll be seeing no more of are Wilson, Taylor and Harrison who I'm letting go on a free, while Davies, Ameobi and Bellamy are all set to retire, with Stock and Gabbidon having already retired and joined the staffroom.
Best overachievers, hell yeah!
And after five years, FINALLY got the full eleven.
Not done yet, you guys know how much I love my big posts!
Finances:
Christ. If I kept this up I'll have a bigger transfer budget than Newcastle United!
Finally, Coefficients and Europe:
It's not much, but it's progress.
Like every year, I've not exactly gone up 210 places but I have improved my position! Imagine we broke the top 100 one day...
And the big one:
We've gone up 11 Coefficient places, to 35. Unreal.

So how would we do in the Champions League?
Bad start. Well, I didn't expect to get out the group at all but this was the game in which we were most likely to earn points, and we lost. Still, at least we scored, so if we do lose all our games we won't be like Maccabi Haifa (losing all games and not scoring).
Okay, 23% possession and losing on shots to 35-2, but I think we did okay. Better than expected, anyways.
Meanwhile in the league...
The European record is 104 wins by Steaua. I'm keen to beat that record.
Gutter seeing as I didn't think we were all that bad. Not sure why Davies took the pen seeing as he's like 8th on my pen taking list and he's awful at them. Sad really, he was excellent ever since he signed for us and he was the only one of the Olden Generation I was going to keep, but this season his form has really taken a battering.
Signed a keeper. Wasn't going to until the summer but this guy was a bit of a steal. Better than anything else I have and Henley is injured anyways.
Another big defeat, but given the circumstances I think I did okay.
AND THEN MY GOD WE WON A GAME
We didn't deserve to, but Draper's last minute winner means we'll take at least three points from this group! Couldn't believe it. £850k for a win will add to the money pot as well!
Well, after the comeback before halftime I really believed, but ultimately class won out. Still, impressed with the way we got back into it and gave them a game.
The Group:
Bottom, conceded the most group stage goals this season, but I don't think I was disgraced.
Interestingly was that my involvement in the competition meant I was also part of the Under 19 tournament, of which you can see the results of here:
The fixtures. Note that we beat Liverpool's Under 21s (even though it's an Under 19 tournament) twice! Ridiculous hammerings off Bayern but we didn't finish bottom!
As usual, the fixtures halfway through and the league table. Cos the fixtures list is quite big, I've stuck them both in this spoiler:
Played Linfield in a friendly as I see them as a European competitor and benchmark. Unfortunately we got hammered. Lost in the League Cup to the side bottom of the league, and I played a pretty strong team, so you can imagine that I'm quite pissed off at how that ended up. Three years since I won that tournament now, though we did get revenge over Druids with a weird 8-1 in which we were 6-0 up after 28 minutes! Shame we couldn't make it 10 but oh well. Two draws as well, at Aber and Airbus who have had good seasons.
Up until the most recent set of fixtures, Aber were only three points behind. Quite nice to have someone closing me down.

Champions League Qualifiers then, and we started with the usual easy game against a tinpot side.
Bellamy proving his European prowess as usual.
A trickier tie in the Second Qualifying Round, Stromgodset, but again we pulled it off:
I knew Ameobi would do good! Adding to his ever-growing tally of European goals, another one more than Sunderland have managed in any European competition.
Third Qualifying Round and we played Helsingborg again. We wanted revenge after last season...
A late equaliser put us in good nick for the second leg.
And again, Bellamy would see us through! Playoff Stage now. A defeat would mean we'd enter the Europa League Group Stage for sure, but I was keen for the win.
Red Bull Salzburg at home...
We looked dead and buried, but an unreal turnaround means we've sneaked the win! A bit lucky, but I don't care.
Could we do it?
Well.
Three years ahead of our goal, we're in the Champions League proper. Unreal stuff.
Pretty much sorts our finances out for the next ten years if we wanted it to. That windfall is amazing for a tiny club like us!
Bayern will be interesting! Reckon we can get a result of Basel as well.
5000-1 sounds optimistic, to be honest. But I don't care! We're in the CL Group Stage!

New season, let's have more of the same.
Finally, a bit of progress. The Northern Irish league has managed to rise to about 50th in the rankings and I don't see why we can't do the same.
And yeah, well we weren't in 417th position but it's still a rise and still a lot of progress.
Huzzah! The real progress I'm interested in. I think we can break the top 27 (top half of UEFA) if we keep up this momentum. If.
Okay, so now for the developments over the season ahead:
Again, more progress.
We made quite a few signings. I'll be letting quite a few players go at the end of the season, so I prepared for that here.
Loan signing. Truth be told he hardly featured and with about two months and three games under his belt I allowed him to go back to Rangers.
Good striker, promising stats.
Excited for this guy with his pace.
More of a backup signing for the midfield where we've been somewhat weak but a signing nonetheless.
I also used my Newcastle links to sign a couple of their released players:
And then I did something quite stupid.
And quite indulgent.
I'd managed to get the wage budget to over £50k a week, which is something considering I'd started on about £6k. I still had a couple of grand left but didn't feel I needed to sign anyone. I had a squad I needed and the next summer would see me be able to downsize with a stronger squad.
But I had to do it.
He was on a free.
What did I do?
I signed Shola Ameobi

It's just a small update though, to wrap up the season. Like doing my seasons in threes although the way it's going domestically, I might just skip through the boring bits from now on. Everyone knows we're gonna win the league every year (although I want Skonto Riga's record of 14 titles in a row).
Blah blah won the cup
Blah blah won the league. 1 league defeat in 96.
Players. I made a mistake and retained Bellamy, Stock and Gabbidon. High wages and age is starting to show. Big JC and Davies are still useful, even if Davies didn't play many games. My loanees had decent seasons too. As for Hardie, he was a good loan signing but I can do better. Wilson is scoring less. Some youngsters got games due to going through injury spells but Haywood and Horton look decent.
Second half of the results. A bit boring. Aber have overtaken Carmarthen as a team I'm struggling to beat.

MIRACLES HAPPEN
I don't know how with the shot count, but p much everything we touched ended up as a goal. Ace stuff.
Literally going to play Atletico and Lille
Anyway the season went as standard in the background, but this career was all about the Europa League. We kicked off away from home against Dnipro, which wasn't going to be an easy game at all. They had perennial FM legend Eugene Seleznov in their side.
Dnipro vs. TNS
Somehow, we got the draw. Just parked the bus, and came away with a win and some money for it too!
In the league, there was some news:
Always seeing records broken, me.
TNS vs. Atletico
At home to Atletico, we absolutely panicked. 3-0 down after 18 minutes, and I decided to go from 4-4-2 to 5-4-1 to try and plug the scoring. Somehow, we managed to only lose 4-2, and we can take some pride in getting a couple of goals against a top, top side.
Lille vs. TNS
No complaints here. Lille's second goal was an unreal volley.
TNS vs. Lille
More outplayed in this one, really. As you can see with this campaign, we're struggling.
TNS vs. Dnipro
But a few more draws like this means more money and hopefully a few more coefficient points
Atletico vs. TNS
Finally, humiliation of some form. We were doing okay until a capitulation just before halftime with three goals in six minutes or so. We went to park the bus and went out with a somewhat, somewhat respectable scoreline.
Overall, the Europa League was an interesting experience, and we got here a year earlier than expected. Still want in the CL by 2020/21, but with the money and recognition we received here, we should be making sound progress for a few year's time. It sets a benchmark however, that we qualify for this stage every year now, and that won't be easy.
A massive, massive first half of the season. In spite of all our games, we did incredibly well to avoid not winning in the league until our thirteenth game. We were out of the league cup in the Semis again, but it's not a priority.
Really, not bad.....the conceded form has improved too.

Right, my fourth season in charge. The goals are normal. Win the league blah blah. However, having been at the club for three years I have decided to develop some major goals.
BY 2018: Qualify for the Europa League Group Stage
BY 2020: Be spending over £50k a week in wages (at the moment it's about £30k a week)
BY 2021: Qualify for the Champions League Group Stage and break the top 200 clubs in Europe
And try to be financially ace throughout.
Good start to the summer.
This is a lie seeing as I was about 272nd but whatever, we're still improving.
Start off with CL qualifying. As usual, we're in the First Qualla Round, and we got the Gibraltan champeeeens
Not MASSIVELY convincing, but we're through.
Signings time, now. Just made the three this summer:
Mr. Ryan Taylor Over The Wall
Big JC, who is apparently adept at playing up front as well, providing us cover.
But in case the big Jeez can't do it, I've got this guy from Rangers on loan.
Right, back to the qualifying.
Wait, no, because I have something to show you. The Euros happened and Wales did pretty well, but lost quite badly to an unfancied team in the Semis:
...As you can see there an unfancied team who went on to win the tournament!
Can anyone confirm that Welsh national side progress will benefit the WPL?
Anyways, Qualifiers.
Ooooh....
.....Yes. Into the Third Stage with a great win over APOEL. Remember when they got to the Quarter Finals of EUROPE? Well look where they are now, losing top a bunch of Welsh village sides.
Helsingborg are amazing at the moment, we were lucky to draw and it didn't look good for us away from home.
But anything can happen in FM...
...Yeah except beating Helsingborg. Onto the URPA LEAGUE playoff we go.
We were playing Zeljeznicar, a team I know how to spell off by heart cos Newcastle played them in 02/03 for a place in the Champions League and I was a a bit autistic with Newcastle back then.
Anyway, first leg...
A defeat, but it gives us promise for the second leg. Which you'll have to wait for in the next edition of
TNS VERSUS THE WORRRRRLLLLLLDDDDD
Yeah it's all about us now. The other teams have no hope.

Signed this chap on a free, formerly from QPR. He proved to be a good little player in the Centre Midfield role.
But then the horror.
The horror.
We lost a league game. For the first time in a season and a half. At home. To the team second from bottom in the league. And you know what? The goals were all scored by strikers I've let go in the past.
Sickener.
Ugh. Least I got over the 50 games mark but ugh.
I managed to get through to the Welsh Cup Final though.
Boom, have that Airbus. In the three seasons if I've not won the trophy Airbus have managed to.
In spite of that loss, we're comfortable winners of the league. 32 points clear of Second place. I reckon we'll be able to get the full 96 one season, but we'll see. With 32 games a slip up or two is always a possibility. Still conceded too many, though.
Hahahaha Airbus UK did you hear about the Sick Swan
Oh and fucking fuck Carmarthen. Still can't buy a win away from home off them.
The lads. Simon Davies had an unreal season and won the Player of the League award.
Already the most successful manager in Wales of all time.
And we almost cleanswept the team of the year! 10/11 isn't bad at all...
