Into the Third Qualifying Round of the Champions League. A defeat would still mean a Europa League Playoff berth, but I don't really want that. I WANT THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
At 1-1 I went all out and it failed.
...Europa League it is.
We got Stoke. A Championship Stoke, but Stoke nonetheless. And it wasn't good.
Scocco taught me how to play footy hard.
I #daredtodream after going 1-0 up. Ah well, earned plenty of money.
Unremarkable standard thrashing of Prestatyn but look at my last goalscorer. Ger Henley's my keeper! Scored with a long range clearance (I'd upload it but the whole uploading thing is not being cool).
Results. Drew at home early on in the league but otherwise it's been a clean sweep.
12 points clear halfway through. Easy.

GOALS AND STUFF
-Win the league
-Do better in Europe
Started off by being shrewd this transfer window. I didn't exactly have money to spend, although I had managed to increase the wage budget from £6k to about £25k now, so I decided to put the money purely where I needed it, instead of signing 50 players like the previous summer. I signed two, this summer:
Right back.
Left back. And a former Welsh International. And a recognisable name. And only 26!
Unfortunately the Welsh League were being useless bastards in Europe, resulting in this:
But at least we did alright. Considering I was 295th, saying I moved up 118 places is a big big lying lie. Either way, I want to break the top 250 now.
We had Europe, and because everyone else was making us look bad, we had to start in the First Qualla again. And again, we were drawn against the Sammarinese (spelt that right first time, geddin) champs.
Easy.
Bellers proving his Nou Camp-scoring form to dispatch of the mighty Trei Fiori.
We had Slovan Bratislava in the next round and I reckoned we could have them. The first leg gave us great promise...
Away from home, an own goal following a Draper shot, and then a Simon Davies freekick. We dominated.
The home leg was amazing. Seven goals in ten shots, another Davies freekick, and we were 6-1 up on aggregate at one point.
The win meant we were in the Third Qualifying Round for the CL. That meant even a loss would put us in the Playoff round for the Europa League, which would = more money, which is what I need the most. Hooray!

He just comes across as a very insecure man, which really wasn't his mantra as a player.
And christ that "research" into winning a cup is one of the most appalling things I've ever read.

Gosling is cack.
Anyway, the Dummett red card got overturned. Thoughts on him? I think he's been rather average, with some shocking performances at times. Dunno what's happening with Santon, is he even injured or just out of favour? Haidara seem our best bet for LB at the moment.

My supervisor is such a cock. Soz to be all whiny and stuff but whatever. Anyone ever been in a situation where everyone literally respects you more than the supervisor on your shift? Cos that's happening with me, and the supervisor hates me for it. And as a result tries to make my job proper hard.

Eyyyy! We beat Bangor 7-1 away from home last season. This season we went one better. Thomas and Draper bagging a hatrick each. Tidy stuff.
Signed two more players during this period:
Perry formerly played for Rangers and had the technical and physical (if not the mental) stats to suggests he could be a star in the WPL at least.
Oh yes. Bellamy signs.
Brian Stock has picked up a knock. Dunno why it made me laugh. To be fair he gets a knock every damn game nowadays so it lost its charm.
Premier League Cup Final. As you can see, we did much better than last season. Also note that Ross Perry, the CB signed halfway through the season, bagged a final hatrick!
And the Welsh Cup final. there were four goals in six crazy minutes from 20-26, and we were 5-1 up at halftime, but we couldn't make it another embarrassment. A thrashing would have to do.
Second half of the fixtures. Frustratingly, we ended up conceding a hell of a lot of goals despite my efforts to really sort out the defence.
Also Carmarthen. FUCK CARMARTHEN. That home 2-2, I was winning 2-0 and yet another 93rd minute equaliser came. That 1-1 draw? An 89th minute equaliser! Three times!
I hate Carmarthen now.
We did win the league though, and we were unbeaten. 30 points clear at the end, 13 points better than last season, although just four goals better off and three goals improvement in defence (so +7 on the goal difference if you can't do maths). I don't mind toooo much about not scoring more but I'm disappointed we let in that many.
Still, we're in the Champions League again.
The squad. I know who I'm getting rid of, but one of them was going to be Graham Wilson. He saved his TNS career with a good first half of the season. Davies exceeded expectation even for this level and picked up the WPL Player of the Season, and Casey Thomas also did well. Jamie Oswell however was poor, though I did only sign him so Airbus couldn't have him, as mentioned.
So, another title and a couple of cups to add to this! Was half tempted to turn this into a British Steel Challenge but knowing who I signed in the Summer, I decided to keep this going...

Okay then, here's the goals for the next season:
Pretty simple. Europe is the main target no matter how, but progression in the CL will be the best place to raise the Welsh League's reputation.
Because the Welsh League got worse, we had to play in the First Qualifying Round for the Champions League. It meant we had the luxury of playing Murata, the champions of San Marino. Would we slip on this potential banana peel?
Nope.
We were held to a goalless draw in the second leg, but 5-0 is 5-0. Hooray!
We played Legia next. A win over this tie would result in us guaranteeing four more games, in the Third Qualifying Round and then either the CL or the Europe League Playoff round. Which also means more money, which also means better signings!
Err, 2-0 flattered us.
We played a lot better at home, but still lost 3-1. I was buzzing after we took the league, but unfortunately we were 2-1 down by halftime and that was the dream over. Looks like I'm gonna have to bring in some ace signings:
Boom.
BOOM.
For what it's worth, take a look at the SPL and the Scottish Championship:
Rangers, Hamilton, Hearts, Dundee and Dunfermline vs. Celtic, Partick, Ross, Inverness, Raith and Cowdenbeath. the Championship is more prestigious than the SPL!
All our fixtures this season. Safely through all the cups, and we only drew because Carmarthen scored a 93rd minute equaliser cos they're bellends. Graham Wilson, our signing from last season has managed to score a fair amount while Draper took a while to get going, but he's starting to score now. Casey Thomas has eased into the side okay but Oswell hasn't really done much. To be fair, I only signed him so Airbus UK didn't have him anyway.
10 points, bitches.

Here is how Wales are doing as a League:
Well, a terrible start to proceedings.
Boom. Making the rest of Wales look shit, as per.
Anyway I got rid of some dross and brought in loads of players, cos the budget a week went from £6k to £18k.
Goalkeeper:
Jamie Stephens, loaned from Newport
Defenders:
Mike Williams, DL/DLC
Ryan Austin, DC/DR
Midfielders:
Luke Williams, ML
Danny Gosset, MC
Huw Johnson, MC/MR
Shaun Rooney, MR
And finally, Strikers. This is the goalscoring chart of last season:
As you can see, Greg had a stunning year, but Oswell and Thomas also impressed, frustratingly against me a few times. So I did a dick move and signed them both:
During my British Steel Challenge a few years ago, Casey Thomas was the star player in my TNS side before moving to Motherwell. Let's hope he can do it again and stuff!
I signed a few more players but they were the major ones. Just hope I haven't spunked most my money on dross eh.

Sunderland survived
Liverpool won't win the league (prefer them over that cantankerous wanker Mourinho and Man City)
We've been shit
Carlisle got relegated
It's all crap. Apathy is the worst thing when you love the game. After both derby defeats I was pretty apathetic. Hell, I struggled to care during the home defeats to Spurs, Everton and Man Utd. When you're getting thrashed by teams you know you were capable of beating earlier in the season away from home (would have done Everton if Iron Mike played the whole game) and you're not caring or even just laughing then it's gash.
Chronicle are just being as immature as they've been treated. They're having such a laugh with it too, I know a couple of lads who work there and they say the stories they can now print have given them the freedom they've not had in years, and with the headlines it's never been so fun to work for the paper.
One of them though gets through to the actual media though as he's also freelancing for the BBC, heh.
#163847 Can anyone give me FM14 training tips?
danwhite89
But with this TNS game I'm doing (shameless plug for my career, see sig) I think it might be a good idea to try and sign young players and make them as good as possible. Thing is for my level, I have no idea how to do it with training and stuff.
So yeah, how would I do it?
#163819 Starting From The Bottom

In the second half of the season, I decimated our "competitive rivals" Bangor 7-1 away from home for our most impressive win of the season.
And. Oh yeah. THE Simon Davies.
We ended up losing three games, but it took the 22nd and final game before the split before we finally did it, disappointingly at home against Airbus UK (who would beat us three times, and would therefore mean I superhate them).
Comfortable 14 point margin between us and second. Airbus UK would also win the League and Welsh Cups though, meaning they are our super rivals and that I turbohate them.
Squad list. Used 24 players in all. Greg Draper was unreal, with 38 in 27 and 26 of those in the league. Wilson impressed when he signed, yet Matty Williams was disappointing, and ended up leaving at the end of the season. Alex Darlington did well up front but by then, I'd already agreed to let him leave at the end of the season, so we lost a potentially decent player. Ah well.
Champions League Qualification it is then. Standard.

Not a terrible defeat.
Also, records and stuff.
Got to say it's not a bad result at all. Plus, the combined income from these two matches plus reward money would pretty much bankroll of for the whole season.
This file isn't so much about the domestic side, provided I finish in any of the European spots. Obviously, I have to adhere to the criteria given to me by the board to make sure I still have a job and stuff, but here's the halfway point:
Unbeaten in the league, but out of both cups in home games. In the Welsh Cup, it was on penalties to a bloody non-league team too...
At least Greg Draper is scoring for fun.
The league table. Six points clear halfway through.

Anyways, the team I chose are...
I had chosen Prestatyn, the club I support in the WPL, but they were crap and I figured that if I was going to try and make the WPL better, I might as well not worry about trying to get to the top and just start at the top.
Yes yes.
It's not a very good league, is it.
Really, really not very good.
But at least we as a club are hovering around the 300th best team in Europe mark...!

Can't say it was the biggest surprise ever.
What can you say. I didn't do too badly, I don't think.
It wraps up this career and in a way I'm happy, as I was beginning to burn out a little bit. Definitely going to do a club career next time round, need a change of scenery!
Thanks for reading.

A group I'm cautiously optimistic about.
We then had our Summer fixtures to contend with, which were a bit disappointing:
The result against Bahrain was great but we drew twice against weaker nations and a bad defeat to Oman. I think amongst everything else, I need to start playing more home games!
We had one friendly before the year's South East Asian Cup.
Just to see if we remembered how to win.
So, tournament time once again! With Australia being part of the sub-confederation now it was unlikely that we would retain our trophy, but a good run would always be welcome.
Cautious start against a side that could always threaten us. We graciously took the point despite being in control for most of the game.
Unfortunately, we had a poor game here. A nightmare start turned into an awful first half. Luckily we showed bouncebackability to come up with the late, late equaliser. Still, two points dropped as I see us as much stronger than Malaysia. To make matters worse, Phil Younghusband got a three week injury after this one!
An important win to take us top of the group.
Unfortunately we suffered another loss of points to a side we just beat days before the tournament opening! Once again we conceded first and although we equalised with an hour of football to go, Laos were able to hold on. In the 88th minute I believe Pontillas missed an easy chance and we knew it wasn't our result.
It put us in a horrible position with a win needed against hosts Vietnam to have any chance of making it out of the group.
Could we do it?
No.
We were out. Laos, incredibly, won the group!
Of course Australia were going to win the tournament.
The year's fixtures. 7-7-5 isn't terrible but not the best year we've had either. 32-10-20 overall.

Challenge Cup time again! Unfortunately we aren't the favourites despite being holders as North Korea are back in the fold for this year's edition. And they're also in our group, as I've mentioned.
We got off to an absolute flier with a thumping victory against the side we regularly paste, Turkmenistan. Schrock on form for once!
Another win, another goal from Schrock. We maybe should have made this more emphatic than it was, but we're through to the Semi Finals so I don't really care too much.
50 games!
Unfortunately, that 50th game was against North Korea and with the schedule being rather relentless for this tournament (the three group games in five days), I had little choice but to put a reserve side out for this one. We lost poorly.
A nervy win over Tajikistan in the Semis. We didn't deserve to go through at all, to be honest. But we sneaked it in extra time. Hooray! We're in the final again!
Against
North Korea
Well we faired better, but North Korea was just far too strong. They were something like 40 places ahead of us in the World Rankings so I think second place is fair.
Although a lot of people didn't.
Bullshit. The lot of them.
And at least we won something!

So, 2016 started and we had a Challenge Cup and a South East Asian Cup to look forward to again.
First off, a show of our next starlet. 8 games, 5 goals. He's going to be the star of the team, trust me.
Our final qualifying game, and I'm quite gutted that we failed to pick up a point, coming so close. 1-0 up, taking it back to 2-2 in the 81st minute, but ultimately losing out. The stats didn't lie though. 3-22 to Kuwait regarding shots and 33-66% in possession. Meh.
In spite of this, we were apparently making progress, which is true I guess. We'd never made it this far as a nation, and we can only keep progressing further!
Beat Gibraltar, just to see if we weren't the most awful team of all time.
Pre-Challenge Cup stats. Clearly the greatest team of all time >_>
The Pre-Season friendlies:
Sao Tome were hard. They quickly went 2-0 up, but we were able to control it until after halftime, when we were able to turn the game around. First time we've been able to try to turn a game around and actually do it!
Then a disappointing draw against Sri Lankan side Java Lane.
#148289 A Tenure With The Philippines
danwhite89
Sadly, it started out badly although I'll maintain that we kept the game competitive. Unfortunately three goals was too much to pull back. This match would set a trend for the rest of the tournament, but at least we scored twice!
It doesn't get much better. 3-1 to Kuwait who were 3-0 up at one point, and I got a red card just to make it even more frustrating. At least I scored.
Took a wee break from qualification to hammer the Northern Mariana Islands, just really a confidence booster amidst these humblings in the World Cup Qualifying.
...
I have to admit, I believed for a moment that we were going to completely turn the game around. Australia then scored on the break but goddamn, I believed, and I have to praise my team for allowing me to believe.
The Asian Challenge Cup group, and unfortunately after missing out in 2014 due to corruption or something, North Korea (who are like 40 places above us in the World Rankings) are back. Apart from that it should be an easy ride to the Semis. Should.
Another World Cup Qualifying defeat thanks to an early capitulation.
It left us the inability to qualify for the World Cup. I wasn't too disheartened though.
This, however, disheartened me. I'd always somewhat been in the matches but Australia just rolled us over. 5-1 was a lucky escape!
The raw facts. 6-0-10 for the year which is a record low. 25-3-15 in total, so at least I'm still in the positives!

Bit of a big update here as I like to limit my updates to three per year, so plenty to go through. As I've started doing, I'll split it into spoiler sections a little bit.
We had our Asian Challenge Cup Qualifiers, to all be played in Guam. First up we had the joint-group favourites, Tajikistan:
An unreal result, especially as we went from 2-0 down to 3-2 up within the first half! Second half we were much stronger, and ran out victors.
Again, we had to come from behind to win and we managed to do it within eight minutes of going behind. Pretty dour game after that, but it's another win.
And we wrapped it up with a frankly terrible game against the hosts Guam! 1-0 up with a header inside 40 seconds, that's about it. Two reds for second yellows, one apiece. Annoyed at our red though as Pacquaio was only booked two minutes earlier!
No competition to be honest.
We had a set of friendlies up next, with each one set to frustrate and annoy me even more.
Guam, Bhutan, Maldives, Taiwan, and now Brunei. Why are we completely incapable of defeating the lowest Asian sides out there?! A terrible result.
Despite the defeat, we managed to climb four places in the rankings.
For reference, here's the latest rankings graph:
Highest position has been 105. I would dearly love to break the top 100 one day! Just got to stop losing to countries smaller than the average Tesco store!
This ain't for like, a year and half, but still nice to get the draw out the way. Frustratingly as with real life, Australia are in the tournament now as the newest South East Asian Confederation member. Means it won't be plain sailing to the trophy as it was last time...
Happily, we'd progressed enough in the rankings to avoid the First Round of the Asian World Cup Qualifying.
Another terrible, terrible friendly result.
World Cup Qualifying Round Up
Despite a Yemen win, East Timor would go through 3-2 on aggregate. A tiny country but the only one I can seem to beat.
We kicked off with a 2-0 home victory. Ideally the score would have been more and with the possession and chances we had it should have been, particularly as we played against 10 men for half of the second half. But it gave us a good chance of making the group stage.
And despite an early scare, we were through 6-2 on aggregate! East Timor really made a go of it and fair play to them, but ultimately we were too strong.
Our group. Not the hardest group I guess, but still an incredibly difficult one for a team of our calibre!

Can I maybe request that you include the scores in your match reports somewhere? Can be quite hard to follow some of the games when you've got a hangover and you're trying to count goals from the minutes scored, haha!
But great story. I'm always interested in the alternative leagues about there.
