It did strike me as being rather odd that we were sharing semi-nude pictures of women around, when we're all perfectly capable of searching for them ourselves.

As a centre-left observer, I want the GOP to go even further to the right, and blame Romney for being too 'Massachusetts moderate'. I hope they nominate the most feckless, authoritarian, far-right fundamentalist who owes a huge living to the Tea Party rednecks who voted them through the primaries. And then I hope the Democrats nominate someone sensible, who's able to come across well to the independents and crush the GOP candidate.

The Libertarians did alright this year in getting 1% of the popular vote - something to be proud of. If the Republicans continue on a right-ward slide, then I could see many crossing over to the Libertarians, possibly in statewide elections more often. The downside, however, is that the Libertarian Party could become an entryist opportunity for social conservatives who want to affect the Libertarian platform on social issues to the extent that the party becomes 'socially and fiscally conservative', rather than classical liberal.

Obama isn't that left-wing in terms of his actions - Gingrich saying that Obama is "America's leftest president" being the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard - but his speech in Chicago on Tuesday night was really good, and actually was a good way of putting into words part of my overall beliefs. Individual ambition along with social obligation and solidarity, not individual ambition and screwing over others to get there - the Objectivist (cuntish) way of achieving success. Obama's campaign team as well, was phenomenal, and shows what can happen when communities pull together to achieve a shared goal - in this case, Obama's re-election.

Anyway, I'll enjoy listening to the right-wing moan about how bad Obama is, what an arsehole he is, etc. Then afterwards, they'll go out and shoot people in the street because that's their 2nd Amendment right to do so.

Butthurt libertarian right-winger is butthurt. Annoying lefty is annoying. That's normal in politics.

I'm happy Obama has won because Romney represents the wrong image - nepotism, snobbery and aristocracy.

I know Obama is with his faults, but he's truly the lesser of two evils. Romney.. he's just such a slimy arsehole who got rich (well, even richer) out of buying out companies and making them go broke. It would really say a lot about the values of some American voters if they chose him other a guy who worked as a community activist and became President despite coming from a less affluent background. Obama represents the American dream, whereas Romney represents your daddy paying for you to go to France as a missionary to avoid 'Nam.

Uncle Sam: while I detest Ludwig von Mises, Milton Friedman etc .. no wait, I detest the people that adore them and idolise them as gods, but still, I'm not economically right-wing, but I respect your ability to stick to your principles and vote Libertarian. The Republicans are so horrendously backwards on social issues that they need to either update or start to lose votes to the new electorate which emerges every four years.

Personally, I really hope Obama wins a second-term, simply to shut the Fox News/Tea Party bigots up. It'd be better for the US if the GOP became more classical liberal on most issues, while retaining an overall coat of sensible, paternalistic conservatism, similar to that of the British Conservatives. Currently, it does that those sort of people, but all the attention goes to the racist, homophobic, hypocritical hacks like Gingrich, Perry and Bachmann.

Anyway, who's up for the US Election All-Nighter? BBC coverage starts at 11:30 and goes through until 6am, so it's shorter than UK general election all-nighters that start at 10pm and (well in 2010) finish at 3:30pm.

People on the continent take left wing politics to ridiculous degrees. I read a mental book by a group of French left wing nutters about the "coming insurrection" in France.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Coming_Insurrection

If you have a free couple of hours and want to read mentalists hypothesising about how the world should run, I could not give it any more thumbs up.

It's usually right-wingers who complain about CCTVs, it impedes on their individual liberties and privacy etc. Julian Assagne is a libertarian, not a socialist, for instance.

It got killed to death by Made in Chelsea. If I were a senior government lawyer, I'd say that the government who designed it as a war propaganda poster still own the copyright, and sue to fuck everyone who's been stealing it.

How come Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the US Virgin Islands, etc, are full FIFA members then, since they're part of the UK or US.

Monaco has a team in the French leagues, iirc, got to the Champions League final, though obviously doesn't recruit just those who are Monaco citizens.

"Spanish twat" isn't racist, but it's xenophobic and stupid. I don't see why anyone would say it without a xenophobic motivation.

If "Massachusetts moderate" Mitt Romney loses - which increasingly looks more likely - then the Republicans will blame his so-called 'centrist' stances and lurch even further to the right in 2016. Well, I hope this happens, because it will near-enough guarantee a Democrat win in 2016.

It depends on who runs, though. Chris Christie is popular, maybe him? But does America want a fat moron as President?

Galloway is a bit of a cunt, but very right on many issues - Palestine, Venezuela etc. If he kept his mouth shut more often, and opened it at the right times, then he would be far more successful.

I've never really 'got' fashion, why it was so important, etc. Most of my friends are quite sensible about it, but others really go out there and spend 99% of their income on clothes and stuff, their money though, I guess.

Very long story. Basically, they had some sort of IT failure on Results Day, meaning they didn't process my accommodation application properly. They put me in a shared room (bunk-beds, for fuck's sake..) in a halls about a mile's walk from the actual lecture buildings. Also, the building was in quite a poor state, with only one shower and toilet for about 30 of us. I applied for my own room, preferably with my own toilet or at least a smaller halls/flat. Anyway, I was quite ill at the time and low on money anyway, so I decided to defer for a year. I'm going back next year, and all I need to do is apply for accommodation - though I'll have priority, as a 'current student'.

So, yeah. Back home and looking for a job on my 'gap year'.
