#384374 Susie On Tour - #2 The Leverkusen Curse
Shedender
It must have been since I didn't manage to beat them in the league (lost 1-0 at home, drew 2-2 away) but it's frustrating so it is because I could've/should've gotten second place but c'est le vie. I've been playing with three at the back to moderate success but I'm tempted to try and bring in a left back (or two) and play four at the back.

Had to wait until the January transfer window before I could even look at potential new signings and even then it was only signings who could potentially 'tie us over' until the end of the campaign and they all arrived on transfer deadline day. Ruben Loftus-Cheek arrived on loan from Premier League side Chelsea while another player joined us from the Premier League as Jesus Navas cost us £1.4m from Manchester City, the last signing saw Ganso join on loan from Sevilla. Benjamin Henrichs (loan), Wendell and Lars Bender all departed the BayArena in the January transfer window.
These are the results from the season just past and there was some disappointing results in there (e.g. losing away to Ingolstadt) but there was an excellent home success against the league's dominating force Bayern Munich which pleased me, even more so because we had to come from behind to do so. The German Cup was a forgettable experience this season while our Champions League run concluded with a first knockout round defeat to the Italian giants Juventus.
We had to settle for a third place finish which was a little disappointing as I thought we were going to nick the runners-up spot.
Javier Hernandez won German Footballer of the Year though.
Bundesliga: Third (top four) - 15 points
German Cup: Second Round exit - 0 points
Champions League: First Knockout Round - 5 points
Rivalries: Bayern x1 - 5 points, Koln x2 - 10 points, BMG x1 - 5 points
Bonus: Won German Football of the Year - 5 points
Total: 45 points.

He didn't overly feature for me as I don't use full backs, I thought £8m at the time was decent enough.
The more the merrier tbh. You have until the 23rd July to complete two seasons.

He's only scored five goals in the league for me pal, including that hat-trick. Don't know why they spent £14.5m on him for.
In the transfer market though I've allowed Benjamin Henrichs go out on loan to Swansea, Wendell has finally departed to Sunderland for £8m and I'm getting £10m for Lars Bender who hasn't really been featuring for me. Not bad.

There's talk of a 5pm or 5:30pm kick off on the 11th but would that not be up to UEFA, both clubs agreeing and the police?

Rangers shouldn't on paper have any problems progressing against, well, Progres.

It'll probably be played on the 11th night but even then it should perhaps be moved for the week after.

Wouldn't have been hard. I should've been sacked the minute Boro beat us 5-0.
I've no idea pal, I suffered some outrageous hammerings during my short stint.
Indeed pal. Cannae explain what happened in those defeats.
Don't think I'll ever be managing Sunderland again!

Manager profile indicating that I began with no coaching badges and SLF reputation.
Signed a few players in January on cheap(ish) deals. Will Keane arrived from Hull, Danny from Zenit, Eric Mathono from Kaizer Chiefs and Adam Phillips from Liverpool. Seb Larsson went to Derby.
So despite beating Manchester United and Liverpool and drawing against Arsenal, the league form was absolutely awful and the fact I couldn't even see out the league season proves what feat awaited me. The last two games in my short managerial stint was both 5-0 defeats, including one to rivals Middlesbrough. I changed tactics, I changed personnel and nothing seemingly worked at this awful, awful football club.
Relegated with four games to go.
And thus my sacking was confirmed.
Premier League - 20/20 (relegated to Championship)
= -25 points
Sacked? - Yes
= -25 points
FA Cup - Third Round exit
= 5 points
Beat Middlesbrough - No
= 0 points
Beat Newcastle - No
= 0 points
POINTS TOTAL:
-45

Need to remain at Cork for at least another season so I can get the league title.

Are you kidding me?!? On the English deadline day, Reading decided to bid £325k for Jimmy Dempsey who had bagged 18 goals in 19 league games. It's pissed me off because I turned down a £625k bid from the same club a week or so previously. Ballbags. We are currently five points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers with six games remaining and the loss of Dempsey doesn't help, hope Lee Foley can step up until the end of the season.
