Team versus Stoke: Cech (c); Ivanovic, David Luiz, Cahill, Cole; Ramires, Mikel; Mata, Oscar, Hazard; Torres

Subs: Turnbull, Azpilicueta, Terry, Bertrand, Romeu, Lampard, Moses

Nice attacking team. Can't wait to see Trio of Mata, Oscar and Hazard playing together.

Lampard finally dropped and Ramires in central, about time. Hopefully this provides the defence with a bit more cover, while also helps Torres having actual attacking players to support him.

Would like to see either Moses, Azpilicueta and Romeu at some point too.

Can't you re-scale pages in your browser?

That's a good point, completely forgot about that actually.

Will do that in the mean time.

Ay the multi quote only works if you click preview or full editor (that's how I always used to do on the old forums). It used to work with the reply button but then Mons made me change it so that reply could be opened in a new tab. I can eventually make it work, but it's a bit fiddly and if I did all of those little fiddly things release would be 2 months later Easier to get it all moved over and slowly iron out the bugs from there.

Well there you go, I guess it was just habit of being able to click on reply and the quoted posts showing.

Now, not sure if this applies to everyone (guessing won't bother those who are running high res) but is there any intent on downsizing font sizes of the entire forum? Everything feels so big and childlike running at 1440x900 on 15" MBP. My vision hasn't degraded that much... yet.

Still trying to warm to it all, everything feels so big and childlike though.

Noticed Multi Quote doesn't seem to work either. You can select the option and tag posts, but clicking reply just replies to whatever post you click reply on with. While "Add Reply" just does nothing. Nothing shows the quoted text in the reply box.

Otherwise obvious missing things like align text etc.

Thomas Hitzlsperger is on trial at Everton

I don't understand why he always finds himself without a club, he was quite a good player in his Villa and Stuttgart days.

Actually surprised he's still only 30.

That's a shit thread title.

It will be changed, don't panic.

The forum was giving me the shits, as you can see with first post. So left it as whatever it was in at the time.

When will we replace Mikel?

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but getting rid of Meireles seems like a mistake. He was impressive against Newcastle, and our midfield looked a lot more balanced there than it does with Lampard in there.

Mikel isn't the problem, he's been good generally this season. The issue is more Lampard than anything, he simply doesn't hold his midfield position and always ends up far too forward, leaving Mikel and the defence exposed. That was the difference between Meireles playing, he would actually play alongside Mikel, focusing on his defensive duties first and foremost. In the current system, Lampard is the weakest link.

I don't see it happening, the clubs don't have the income to continuously do that year after year.

I think with Del Piero they've brought him in for the next two seasons, then after that Sydney FC will look to bring through a lot of youth that hopefully have been exposed to him in some way, so they can learn from his professionalism on and off the pitch. I still think the way to go is bringing in more youth players, I think the national team is suffering because not many players are coming through at A-League level and overseas.

Yeah, but clubs simply looking to bring through youth doesn't provide the excitement. Without having established quality, the league suffers too.

The national team is suffering because our "golden generation" is coming to and end. The A-League isn't really good enough just yet to produce players ready for the NT, while a lot better players go to Europe, they still struggle to really make an impact- unless an exceptional talent. Mustafa Amini is basically the only real exceptional talent going around at the moment, who could become big if he develops well at Dortmund. Besides that, a lot of flashes of potential without much real substance.

Oscar's goal was sensational and oozed class.

Chelsea really need to sort themselves out though, very much over this Ramires playing on the right and having Lampard play in the holding role. Neither excel in those positions and at times (particularly Lampard), leave the defence exposed.

That said, good to see Juve graft out another good comeback. It's something that's been very much instilled since Conte joined and shows with the players he's brought in.

Hopefully both clubs progress through the group.

Heskey stuggles to deliver during an English winter, can't see how he's going to cope playing in an Australian summer.

Would love if a club picked up Zambrotta, since there's a real lack of quality full backs going around.
